New thread, new week! What are you playing?

I am putting most of my free time into Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Act 2 at the moment. I think the main story has fallen off a bit. People you need to share key information between each other. :confused-face: Honestly have no idea how the story will go. Gameplay-wise, it continues to be stellar.

I want to have a talk with the person who designed the second Gestral Beach though. You, you are pure evil. :jj_mofo:

Street fighter 6 and Trials of Mana, I don't know what to say about the game the constant interruption with super short cutscenes feels a bit off and having to retread the same areas in such a short time is a bit annoying but since it seems to be on the shorter side of JRPGs i'll continue playing a little bit more to see where it goes.

I finally got around to finishing the first Suikoden

it was okay, I mostly enjoyed it but it did feel a bit too archaic in spots like the inventory system and while the short length meant it didn't overstay it's welcome it also made what story there was feel a bit too surface level and rushed

solid 7/10ish, I don't regret playing it but definitely tons of room for the second one to improve

I'm up to Episode 4 in Sakura Wars 2. I do not like Orihime's rhythm game lol. I do like Sakura's minigame, but it's also tough as nails. :flare_lmao:

Also, I'm resuming my Atelier Escha & Logy playthrough from last year. I'm hoping to get the Atelier Dusk series finished this year. :flare_bath:

Finished Isles of Sea and Sky, very good. Got all the stars. :starblob:

Continued Forgotton Anne, not really sure what to think of it yet. It seems obvious where the story is heading.
It sounds and looks nice, so there's that at least.

Recovering after blasting through Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 over a week. EMOTIONAL DAMAGE (and a whole lot of pent up tension from the combat).

Decompressing with Famicom Detective Club: Emio The Smiling Man on NSW, which has been very intriguing so far, if a bit slower paced than I'm used to.

Also hooked on Towerborne on Xbox, an unholy union of Dragon's Crown and Diablo thats working perfectly as grinding therapy.

Don't worry Cacher, its Only Up from here!

Started up the new Indy and the Great Circle game by MachineGames. Really loving this game so far. It fees very im-simmy (though I don't think it fully qualifies as one). Like how you can pick up objects, throw them to distract enemies and them whop them over the head, hide their bodies and so on. Stealth is kinda under powered, but this makes it even more interesting to me. It helps that combat is pretty fun. You need to be creative in how you approach enemies, since Indy is, well, an archeologist. he maybe quite buff, but he's still just a normal dude, and taking on loads of soldiers is going to be a challenge. So you need to be smart about it.

Looks absolutely gorgeous too.

Also making some progress with Trials of Mana too, nice coincidence. I love how faithful the remake is to the original. I never fully finished the old SNES game, but I remember the first half of it quite well and so far the game has done a superb job of translating it to 3D. Combat is a bit on the simpler side, that's maybe my only complaint. I hope that improves a bit once you unlock the higher classes.

Still going on with Clair Obscur
I don't have a lot to add that hasn't already been said so instead I'll post a video from the first prototype the lead dev (I think it was posted on reddit but I'm not sure about the source) did before the game even got into full development. I'm a sucker for beta footage and I love seeing how games evolve from the first concept into the final version

I need time to process this.

Fired up this for an hour or so....

And its pretty amazing, Some great attention to detail in it. Love running around my bridge flipping switches and checking monitors.

paging Aaron D. , i think it might be up your street if you haven't come across it already.

Oh my that looks grand. Thanks for the lead!

I'm guessing you just picked this up off the Wargame sale last week?

I nabbed We The People at -50%.

Been playing Rocket Boots Mania, which is another of those "speedrun a short obstacle course as fast as possible" games. It's got an accessible version of a bunny hop, wall-running, sliding and jumping. I always enjoy finding creative routes through a level. Sometimes I surprise myself when I get a good time on the leaderboards using my own ideas. As opposed to watching the best players' ghosts to shortcut the process.

It's a good "podcast game". And it's my frontrunner for 2025 GOTY, because it's the only game from this year I've played yet.
