more importantly - did you ask him about NOLF?

Nice interview, that was a fun read!

Weren't the first 2 Mafia games "open world," but pretty linear and just moving from mission to mission?
Haven't played the first one but this is 100% the case Mafia II "Open World" but all of the activities are to get on a mission or eat a sandwich. Great game, such a mature and well acted story, the ending is kinda abrupt but the game is fantastic.

This was a nice interview :D

It's good to see the demo is so well received. Cannot wait for the full release.

"The current team (all former Coldwood Interactive) have released several titles where the most noteworthy games are the Unravel franchise with millions of copies sold world wide."

well yeah, i guess it's pretty obvious, lol
Oh, so those devs opened a new studio. I've been wondering what Unravel devs have been cooking since EA Originals days.
But what happens to the original company now?

The more I play of Expedition 33, the more I’ve come to terms with the fact that I am physically/mentally incapable of reading animations in a way that I can successfully dodge or parry at default settings.

This game needs more accessibility options. If you’re deaf or hard of hearing, playing the game at 30fps, struggle with feints or simply don’t have a lot of time to learn the ins and outs of each enemy’s attack animations, this game is such a bad time and needs a mod to fix it.

The handwringing about a parry timing mod is so elitist and ableist. People are just not able to see things from someone else’s perspective.

This is also why I hate souls games.

Yep thats why I had to drop it, it would be one thing if one could still manage to scrape by the encounters in the game by not being able to parry or dodge, but one cant, its absolutely mandatory to parry to beat bosses. One example I thought about is how Sea of Stars did it, not only isnt timing 100% necessary but it has lots of accessibility options to help.

"Mods ruin a games design and stops you from fully enjoying the original product"

That's an actual quote from the internet.

People are either lacking in sympathy, or they don't have access to the mods so they're mad.

Some optional bosses require 100% parry / dodge, and I am playing it through frame gen so there's input lag. Therefore, I decide to upgrade my rig before going after them lol.

I will finish the game for now, and leave all the remaining content to NG+.

Lots of accessibility options should be the norm, especially for single player games.

I dont feel the need for games to add accessibility options.

If I cant get the hang of a game for whatever reason I just move on, not blame the devs.

Doesnt really hurt, the more people that can enjoy a game the better. It would be like if a game only had ULTRA GRAPHICS settings, to be able to change and customise ones experience is only a good thing.

It's not like Im demanding it, if a game isnt for me, as you say I just move on.

I just think if the devs have a vision to make a game a certain way, they should be free to do so.

If it's not for me, it's not for me.

This kind of exclusionary BS is pretty sad. Can’t you take 5 seconds to look beyond your own perspective?

Maybe consider that not everyone feels the same way as you, and might feel excluded from a game based on things like:
  • their age
  • a disability
  • how much money they have (because lower frame rates will negatively impact the timings in this game - so poor people are at a disadvantage)
  • their cognitive ability
Some of these accessibility issues are permanent, some are situational/temporary. None of them are the fault of the user. Why should they not be able to enjoy things because of the above?

If you’re poor and you paid £50 for a game that excludes you based on one of the above, imagine how upsetting that is?

Games are a hobby for everyone. Developers absolutely should put accessibility options in because discriminating against users based on ability (in an offline single player game of all things) is not “artistic vision”.

Are you against subtitles on TV or film? What about closed captions? These were no doubt not part of the original work, but they make it so others can enjoy it.

Do you hate braille because authors envision their book in print?

Machine Games are literal miracle workers, man. Indy and the Great Circle got an update to make run on the Steam Deck, and I had to test it out. For context, this was a true next gen title with ray tracing required since the game has no mode without it. The new Steam Deck settings actually are playable. The frame time graph looks bad, but it feels more quite ok at 30 fps. Used the in-game 30 fps limit and triple buffer vsync. Textures are laughably low but im surprised it really holds 30, even in large areas in the first big area of the game

If you feel getting too excited and eager, just think of us "meaningless Metacouncil degenerates" and calm down a bit so you can make the most of the evening. :coffee-blob: Have a great evening!:cat-heart-blob:

After finishing Indiana Jones and the Great Circle I'm finally getting around to the game I've waited all year to play: Kingdom Come: Deliverance II.

These are the Hardcore perks I decided on.
