Seems like a successful launch?

Yeah, this looks like a success in the making.

It's now already at 1200 reviews, so it gained 200 more reviews from when that article was posted. For comparison, Square Enix's Fantasian has 300 reviews all time, Valkyrie Elysium has 900, Star Ocean 6 has 1500 reviews, and Visions of Mana has 1700. As for other publishers, Atelier Yumia has 2000, Suikoden Remastered has 1300, and it has already passed Tales of Graces f at 500 reviews. These are just some niche titles, and still a far cry from the big hitters like Final Fantasy, ATLUS, and Capcom games.

That article would be better with added context with comparisons for context, because 1000 reviews on its own doesn't sound that impressive.

What kind of game is fantasy life? I kind of dismissed it when seeing it on steam but might be good?

It's a life sim/expanded Animal Crossing type game. You have a full single player RPG where your character can choose from many jobs/classes/'lives'. You can choose combat or crafting or gathering lives and in fact, you can take them all if you want. You level them up as you play and they help you in completing the story. In addition it has the Animal Crossing stuff of decorating your house, designing your village and so on. It's a really sweet, very chill, zero stress kind of game.

Fantasy Life wasn’t bad per se but I remember dropping it quickly because of how boring and repetitive the process of unlocking classes was. Like, same basic structure of dialogs, just changed a bit for each class. The game after that may have been great, I was just bored to death before it even began.

How are the Stalker remaster ? I missed the boat on the original by a couple of years and when I tried it it was already a mess of patch, ugly as sin and with stupid quest design (no, I will never forget the first time limited quest to ask for the killing of some mutant doggps you can onmy find hours into the game, apparently).

Anyways, it’s Tower of Babel day. I’m apparently the only one hyped for it.

They can easily fix all these things by:

-Paying the artist they stole from a nice sum
-Delaying the game
-Make a good singleplayer campaign

Then release a complete product everyone will be happy with. One that will be worth the "Premium" price as well.
This is not gonna happen.

  • They can pay the artist but this is not gonna fix public perception. Even if they "make it right", all art in the game will constantly be under increased scrutiny and will live under a shadow of "did they make that or steal that from someone else?". This probably wouldn't kill them outright either way, but the game is on shaky grounds already and it's not gonna help them at all
  • They will have to delay it either way. There's no shot they have something good enough in 4 months even without the art theft drama creating a ton of additional work for them. But delaying it also means Arc Raiders could eat their lunch.
  • I'm sorry but that's kinda delusional. If they pivot to a single-player game campaign, they'll have to delay the game for years and they've already worked on it for 4 or 5 years. It's basically almost like restarting from scratch again. I doubt they literally even have the budget for that.

I should get off my lazy ass and install a dual boot, already.
Thankfully I've been on Macs only for almost a decade, but man I do dream of building that PC again and linux. Think it would be a really fun project to fully learn it. Maybe I have become too nerdy ever since I for real started to learn programming.XD

Didn't realize that RoadCraft had Loyalty Bundles if you own SnowRunner.

RoadCraft standard - $29.99 (-25%)
RoadCraft Rebuild Ed. (2 upcoming DLC maps) - $39.99 (-20%)

That was an easy pre-order based on the good/great but not perfect reviews coming through.

Glad to see the dev recover from the mid reception that Expeditions got last time out. The franchise overall is so darn novel.

Seems like a successful launch?

This looks amazing.

Wishlisted for a sale purchase.

Wait a year and Borderlands 4 with DLC will be like 30$.

Maybe even faster if it flops at launch.

But for 80$ lol nahh.

It would probably take 2+ years to develop a short single player campaign for Marathon. There’s no way that’s going to happen at this point.

A 2 year delay wouldn't be the end of the world. Bungie and Sony have the money to burn.

It would be worth it for a nice 10-15hr singleplayer campaign that fleshes out that universe. Maybe add some more multiplayer modes too like Battle Royale or something.

Besides....

A delayed and more content complete game could eventually be good.

A rushed and plagiarized game is forever bad....

or wtvr.

Apparently if Bungie doesn’t hit certain financial targets Sony can dissolve the board of directors and take direct control of the company: What A Sony Takeover Of Bungie And ‘Destiny 2’ Could Look Like

That’s why I don’t think it will happen. If the game gets delayed I imagine Bungie won’t hit their targets. I doubt the current board would allow a delay even if it’s in the best interest of the game.

Borderlands isn't going to flop. It's one of the few games that actually can pull off $80. Unfortunate, but true.

EDIT: The Stalker remasters are getting absolutely trashed in Steam reviews. Can someone check if they've been granted the free upgrade on gog? I haven't gotten them there yet.

With Mario Kart being 80$...I expect every major publisher to try it with at least one game later this year.

Makes sense for 2K to do it with Borderlands 4.

EA likely with the new Battlefield

Xbox with COD

Ubisoft if they even have a big game in the fall lol.

Its up to the gaming community to reject it but I have a feeling all these games will sell and do well.

And then next year most big releases will be 80$. With GTA6 making it standard. They are all competing with each other so no way they sit back and watch competition possibly bring in more revenue.

Hopefully this interesting trend of 50$ games (Oblivion, E33, Mafia) continues even with a future where big AAA games become 80$+. Something positive might just come out of it all where publishers are forced to work on a new middle ground due to budget reasons, expectations etc.

It took close to 30 attempts but I finally managed to get past the gauntlet of bosses at the end of COE33 act 2 :sweaty-blob: and, while I had managed to piece most of the story together beforehand, the small missing tidbits reveal really pieced everything in nicely, or at least 98% as there's still a few small details that need to be settled.
It's hard to imagine how they managed it but those madmen really made a masterpiece in their first attempt.

So I'm playing Chrono Trigger.
Started it a few years ago but ended up dropping it after a few hours.
Now with the ability to play it on the Deck I decided to give it another go and I'm having a good time. Nothing beats portables for retro gaming.

On my PC I'm still playing Clair Obscur. I fucking love this game. It hits all the right notes for me. I could tell it would from the moment I saw the announcement trailer.

Lol the correct way to buy any borderlands game is to wait for the super duper looter gooner edition for like 15$ with all the DLC a year or whatever after release

Or the complete your Buy all the borderlands games bundles on steam where it makes the shit like 3$

Think I’m might be getting too old for video games. I’m stuck on a story mission kingdom come 2 and can’t beat a boss. Getting tired of hard games. I just want worlds to explore and do stuff in.
There's no shame in playing on easy mode. When a game doesn't give that option, there's a reason why we play games on PC. We play games on our own terms, install the mods/cheats so that we can enjoy them.
