|OT| MetaConsole | Here we can talk about anything regarding consoles

Less than a week to go! Probably going to get Fantasy Life so I have something to play other than Mario Kart. I'm also going to spend a few minutes in my prayer circle each day that Xenoblade Chronicles X gets an upgrade patch.

Sounds like a bad launch to me with only 1 game, since Fantasy Life is already on PC/Steam.

Mario Kart World will probably carry the launch, but they’ve padded out the launch window with enhanced Switch 1 games, which tells me:
  • this thing is coming in hot
  • developers haven’t had long with it
It’s pretty straightforward to get a console bundle if you want one here in the UK. Buying standalone systems is hard, but that’s retailers fucking around more than anything else.

But the level of availability could be because of diverted resources from the US due to tariffs. I expect the console to be gold dust in the US until the situation with importing goods settles down.

I think in the long run it’ll be a fine system. Probably not Switch 1 levels of success, but they’re not doing worse than 3DS, except maybe in the US where it could be a giga flop.

But I think in this instance, if Nintendo releases a flop system in the US then the rest of the industry is gonna follow.

My view is now is the best time (other than every year that came before) for first parties to start building up their European audiences and selling more games. It would help if they invested in better localisations.

To people who are getting Switch 2 this week, have fun!

Make sure to send me yours if you are not happy with it. :wink

Switch 2 turned up just now.
It's reassuringly heavier and more robust than the Switch but i'm sure that will lead to people complaining about how heavy it is :D

Now i need to look at the eShop and see if there's anything decent on offer at the moment.

I got mine, but I am waiting until my screen protector shows up before I open it. The box looks nice and uh, I like the shade of red they used.

Anyone have any suggestions for a decent cozy Stardew Valley type game?
There's a lot going on for me at the moment and i need a good portable cozy but engaging low-stress game.

edin just reviewed Fantasy Life i on RPG Site.

It's supposed to be getting a Switch 2 performance update patch.

I'm completely over the moon for it myself. Also finding it incredibly cozy & mentally therapeutic.

I played Mario Kart World for about an hour and uh, it's kind of trash. I don't see an option to do old fashioned 3-lap races online. Considering that's how I spent 95% of my hundreds of hours in Mario Kart 8, I'm severely disappointed. The intermissions to race to the main track and do one lap isn't fun at all. I hope Nintendo patches it in the future, otherwise I won't be playing this much.

I decided to get the Switch 2 mainly because my brother was getting one for himself and my nephew for Mario Kart World. I didn't pre-order but I just went to Target a few minutes before opening and I happened to be the second to last person to get a Mario Kart bundle. I did the system transfer from my Switch OLED to the Switch 2 but my Switch 2 does not show as my primary system for some reason.

I played another 2ish hours of Mario Kart. You can get traditional 3 lap races online, but only if Random gets selected as the track. It's a baffling decision from Nintendo as the intermission tracks seem suited for Knockout Tour and should have been contained to that mode.

I’m not sold on MK World at the moment. None of the tracks have given me that wow moment that I got from MK8.
I haven't really had a chance to play the tracks because of the intermissions. From what I've seen, the weakest part is they're so wide to accommodate 24 players.
