Sony saw the RnD cost for the PS6 and probably got spooked about the idea of people just playing their games on PC instead.

So the first few years of PS6 they will probably keep exclusives to sell whatever overpriced junk hardware they push out but eventually they will go back to PC. All it would it take is one bad financial quarter of any kind and that could be enough for shareholders to push them back in the PC space. Growth is too important to these corporate clowns. The suits will obey.

So I think everything that has been announced (Yotei, Saros, God of War remakes, Wolverine) will come to PC including the new Kojima IP.

The Naughty Dog game will probably be the first PS5/6 only.

And whatever other launch window PS6 only games will be perma exclusive like Demon Souls was for PS5. They will definitely have PS6 only games too to sell the hardware even tho PS5 would handle them just fine.

But a few years later they will come crawling back. They are gonna need that audience because the PS6 will be like 700-800$ and the games 70-80$. Eventually they will suffer a massive software flop along the way and they will need to recoup revenue somewhere else. The PC port money is still the easiest low effort $$$ they can make.

Ill just post this again but Jeff Vogel talks about it as an independent developer before steam even existed and a lot of modern tools to help streamline purchasing stuff even online. Like you calling a number in a magazine or sending a check in the mail and mailing out floppies or disks type shit on top of everything else. Not to mention attempting to keep up with the modernizing of stuff that steam/valve just "gives away for free" or handles all of it with you essentially not having to do anything

It's really just stupid. It's like the fucking headline or article I saw saying that 40% of people surveyed had no idea that Lays chips were made out of potatoes.

I slept and woke up to 2 pages of discussions about Sony leaving PC :neutral-face:

I only bought 1 Sony PC offering - Days Gone. It was cheap enough and I wanted to try a AAA zombie game, so I got it and fired it up. But after a few hours, it bored me to tears.

Sony likely thought that their games are special and people would treat them as darlings, so they launch these games at full price on PC. But the truth is that they are not good / enticing enough to warrant the price tag. Only late ports of GTA6 and some (not all) Nintendo games can sell well with this strategy. Combined with performance issues at launch, I bet their PC initiative isn't as successful as they internally expected.

But retreating from PC because they don't make as much money as they expected? It's in line with what they did with their GaaS games - not selling good enough? Axe the fucking thing. Don't save it. They dismiss the fact that many things are salvageable. Hell, even Fallout 76 and Overwatch (2) can turn around. If you treasure the players and make good (better) products, people will notice and money will follow.

And good luck with that. Console exclusives won't make these games, suddenly, more valuable if they are not good enough. They will be crawling back to PC in a few years.

I seriously doubt they'll be a single PS6 exclusive during the first few years of the PS6's life - from Sony or outside Sony. No way they abandon the PS5 userbase anytime soon, especially if the PS6 basically becomes a luxury product due to component prices.

I don't understand this. Blizzard adds the Ubisoft Connect versions of Diablo 1, Diablo 1 expansion, and Blizzard Arcade Collection to GeForce Now, but not the actual Battle.net versions. Why?!? I own Blizzard Arcade Collection on Battle.net, but can't play it through the service if I wanted to because of this.
I think this has to do with the fact that Ubisoft secured the streaming rights for all ABK games during the merger process

They will need a few if they want people to drop nearly 1000$ on a console + games + accessories with tax and everything. Its going to be pricey so they need incentive.

Even if its just one or two games like with Demon Souls.

Nintendo didn't need to do it with the new Mario Kart or Bananza either but they know the discourse would be about the point of new hardware.

The stuff already announced will be multiplat tho but Sony will reveal some new exclusive only game as a surprise once the PS6 is unveiled.

So the PS6 launch slate/window would be something like this:

Physint (PS5 + PS6) with Steam release 1 year later
Intergalactic (PS5 + PS6)
Exclusive (PS6 only)..

And throw in GTA6 rerelease + other 3rd party and Xbox studios games lol.

A lineup like this would make for a decent PS6 first year imo.

Doing a double take at this thread honestly.

Last week everyone is pitch forks out for discord
This week everyone is cheering on more social coddling from the government over optional video game purchases

:grimacing-face:

I would like less Government say in my life and hobbies, thanks. It's crazy to me how much we're bending over backwards to ruin everything under the guise of "protecting the kids" nowadays. Even bringing back the "violent videogames" moral panic. Stop cheering for the loss of privacy and freedom of choice.

Even if you agree with (current issue), it always wraps around to bite you anyway. Don't people see this? It's literally what's happening with Discord?? People accepted enough regulation on this, that, and the other thing. "Oh I don't use social media so it's ok!" Now it's coming for a lot more than social media and Pron and it's too late to fight. More and more countries enact legislation to police what you can do and see while forcing you to identify with government documents erasing anonymity and privacy.

... Which seems crazy to me in a time when everyone is complaining that "things I don't like are fascism." Well what's more helpful to a supposedly fascist state than keeping you under constant surveillance and legislating everything about your life? Like, hello? Is it just me??

The timing of this store page couldn't have been funnier with the omg Sony hubbub stuff. :toucan:

Imho exclusives made more sense when a platform holder could pump out 4-5 internally developed games a year and they weren't as expensive to develop.
Nowadays your "premium studio" ships 1 game during the entire console generation, 2 if they are lucky. 3 if they are Insomniac.

That math just gets more and more difficult.

Anyways, if Sony is truly shifting their PC strategy...
what strategy?

Boom! Roasted!

But what does MetaSteam hate more..

Gambling or invasion of privacy? lol

It is what it is.

Its all too late anyways. The internet is pretty much destroyed and the young kids/adults of the future will not experience the free form wild wild west internet that we enjoyed growing up. Its unfortunate but its dead. Corporations and world governments will ruin everything. Today you will have an 80 year old politician who doesn't even know how to turn on a computer...pass internet laws because they are being paid by corporations or pressured by other leaders who are paid by lobbyists. Its inevitable corruption. They will use kids or AI or blame communism or anything else. But its all about money.

Also blame the corporations for making internet technology so accessible to the computer illiterate. That is where the downfall started. When the process of building, discovery and growth was eliminated. The abyss is no longer there and now the infrastructure is put in place to control everything. AI will take care of everything now.

Maybe in the future someone will invent an Internet 2.0 or something to start it all over but...its unlikely. Not in our lifetime at least.

Like, hello? Is it just me??
No, I fully agree. My opinion on lootboxes and gambling doesn't mean I want the govs to decide what is allowed or not, because history taught me governments "opinion" shifts as quickly as the wind, and something you though could be safe can suddenly turn illegal at a moment's notice. Hell my last ban from ERA was specifically because I tried to warn people there one day you ban "pedo anime games", next month you will ban "LGBT games" and "violent games", eventually even "normal games" and got a month vacation for false equivalency
And then Collective shout happened 2 months later
Gambling is bad and we need to think of the children blah blah blah, but who should really protect them?
Same for those shitty asset flips, nazi, awfully fetishized, racist, illegal, homo/islamo/any other phobic games (and yes, reviews/users too). Do their creator deserve a punch in the teeth across the screen? Yes. Do you wish they could be erased and memoryholed forever? Sure. Should a "higher" body (store, group, government, banks) dictate if they can't be sold?
...
......
Unfortunately the answer is no, no matter how bad we're talking about. Because if those... shitty things existing mean the things I like also get to exist, then I'll just... do the mature thing and look the other way, and never interact with them, never suggest them to anyone else, and never link them hoping eventually they'll fade from existence naturally. I prefer this to something good getting banned in a crossfire
And that's supposing a crossfire ever happens, because history taught me those shitty nazi games somehow always get a pass, while the smallest thing some times is enough to ban any other game, especially from asian countries

Like why the fuck is Fantasy Maiden Wars no longer coming to Switch? I don't care about the Switch version, I have it on Steam (luckily), but the western release was supposed to be both on Steam and Switch, yet no one is somehow asking why that's no longer happening. And yet the asian version released on Switch no trouble (it was actually Switch exclusive). Did someone at Nintendo looked at it having anime girls and got a fit? Despite the game having literally 0% inappropiate content? This is the problem with governing bodies: they make the rules but never explain them, and so they can change them when they want

They will also release on PS4, because Sony still touts how many users the PS4 has. and contrary to their and their fans' beliefs they don't seem to want to switch to PS5

Dont see how legislating what corporations can and cant do online is opposed to preserving privacy of people? Corporations being able to do what they want with our data IS why they are now in the backrooms of every government wanting even more of our privacy. So yeah I do think there should be tons of laws that dictate how much data corporations can have of ours. Now that is a different conversation than about laws about content, because bring on the liberated boobs!

NVIDIA a few weeks after saying that they now produce 3x more code thanks to AI.

February 26th, 11am PT Update: We have discovered a bug in the Game Ready and Studio 595.59 WHQL drivers and have removed the downloads temporarily while our team investigates. For users that have already installed this driver, or are experiencing issues with fan control, please roll back to 591.86...

:toucan:

Seems like users are reporting alot of different issues with these drivers, maybe one of their worst driver releases in recent memory?

I still find it really weird how people want to be friendly in recent extraction shooters (Arc Raiders and Marathon). Earlier, I played a match and went to extract then I saw another player standing behind a wall a few feet from me. He ducked and moved around. I shot at him because I play Tarkov mainly and no one is really friendly in there. The other player moves behind the wall and then comes out and starts crouching repeatedly. I figured it out that he being friendly so I crouched repeatedly and he came over and both extracted.
