Hidden in Plain Sight

Hidden in Plain Sight is a set of local multiplayer (2-4 players) game modes that share a common theme: trying to accomplish goals without drawing attention to yourself. In each game mode, players control characters in a sea of identical NPCs. Players are given a task, but also the means to eliminate each other from the game. The goal is to blend in with the NPCs, accomplish the task at hand, and take out other players before they get you. One of the simplest game modes is called "Death Race." Players and NPCs are racing to be the first to cross a finish line. Each player has a gun with one bullet, and can eliminate one person from the race. Do you sprint ahead, calling attention to yourself but maximizing you chances of winning? Or do you hang back with the pack? Other game modes create similar tension by putting players in a conflicted position of wanting to accomplish a goal, but risking elimination by doing so. Rounds are quick and lively, and always end in laughter and friendly shouting. So grab your controllers and friends and give it a shot!

Idk what I'm looking at with Virtua Fighter Crossroads, trying to make a Shenmue story mode I guess but the game could suffer trying to accommodate all those extra systems at the expense of the 1 on 1 fighting. Or is it a different game, like Shenmue itself was once Virtua Fighter RPG? That could work, though it's still pointless they make "new" characters that are just the old ones with a new name. Stranger than Heaven looks rad but isn't it in bad taste to add dead folks? Like it's cool for folks like Danny Trejo, but this seems off and not like a true homage via an appearance of how he really was or anything like a true historic mention contemporary to his real life rather than a willfully corny guest star appearance the living cast can always choose to do (and usually not as themselves either)🤷‍♂️

Yeah I'm not so sure about using dead folks here. Apart from Tupac, Bunta Sugawara also passed away in 2014 and he's "playing" a Yakuza boss in Stranger than Heaven. JP people seem to be okay with it but it doesn't sit well with me, personally.

FF7R3 looks good. I felt that Rebirth was really really long and would have been better with less bloat. We'll see if they learned anything in this one. Will be curious to see their ending to this series too. Probably gonna wait to hear how the PC version is cause they have not a great track record thus far IMO.

Putting Tupac in a game is kinda gross, NGL. He's dead and his estate is in full extraction mode, sort of wish they just found any other living rapper instead. They got Snoop, why not get another old head from that era? Dre would cash a check I'm sure. Especially if you're gonna dub a different voice anyway.

Capcom pipeline is never gonna be empty. They will just rotate everything over and over again.

Veronica
RE1 remake
RE10
Revelations 3
Outbreak remake
RE11
RE6 remake

.....they can take a break and remake Dino Crisis games for a few years or do more Dead Rising..

and then return by remaking the remakes with a new engine or something....+ 12, 13 and 14 lol

Deep dive is nice, I guess even with multiple opponents it's still purely 1 on 1, they just script the switches better than something like Tekken 7's mook/generic fighters respawning. Less worries about the mechanics affecting the fighting now. But yes, these guys can't resist always making a Yakuza game, lol. I do hope they have standard arcade type ladders, I hate all fighting games ditch the old format of pick a character get to the end and get a nice ending for him/her or whatever in favor of the ZERO replayability cinematic Mortal Kombat type shit taking over everything beyond the multiplayer matches. The best solo mode is still VF4 Evo's Quest Mode which they haven't properly replicated in later games even if Tekken like other features also tried to steal that in later entries and kept gaining more success than the game it kept stealing features from showing the industry is all about clown marketing hype and not game quality (indeed, duh).

I know it's the one that's aged the best but how the fuck do you do a collection like this and include Codename 47 but leave out Blood Money?! Codename 47 has a handful of levels that showed there was potential to make a great game with this idea but most of the game is complete dogshit. And Blood Money is the best one and having a version of it that runs better on modern systems would've been great...

I keep Blood Money installed, it doesn't have any issues and seems pretty flawless. Then again my system is hardly modern now. Edit: I guess I forgot it maxes out at less than modern resolution settings cos I'm fine with playing it at 4:3 1440p which matches my monitor's vertical resolution and I'm used to playing most console and PC oldies at native/retro settings. There are probably fan patches for arbitrary resolutions/fov and stuff but sure, official support would be nice too.

Yeah, by modern I mostly mean support for arbitrary resolutions/aspect ratios. I'm sure there's mods but native support would be ideal. Especially ultrawide support.

Holy shit. What is going on today

LMAO the "He's packing" is such a good throw back the first Hitman was such a funny and hard game. Too bad no Blood Money arguably the best game in the series from the PS2 era.

I totally fell asleep before the show and of course it was stacked with code veronica, FFVII part 3 and the Fumito Ueda game. Maybe if I miss the Xbox show they'll finally announce gears collection for PC lmaoo

Not sure if Im into Ueadas new game, I really liked his previous games, but the moment the trailer showed shooting with a gun, I was almost out. Getting it on PS5 if it is good. Not that I hate EGS (I did it before), nowadays I simply don't care about EGS, I can't even bother to start EGS up and keep forgetting about collecting the free games.

Over the years I have went from hating EGS to just not caring about it.

Makes me very happy TWOU 2 and Lords of the Fallen 2 escaped from it.

Seen a lot of crying online about certain games not being at the State of Play, such as FFVII Revelation.

Basically lowkey crying that it's not a PlayStation exclusive, because their plastic box having the games is not enough - they must deny others these games too.
They're losers

I feel like there's always have been a big difference between a pewrson mainly playing on Xbox or Playstation and someone mainly playing on PC.

People mainly playing on a console can't stand seeing games go multiplatt, they cry, throw a hissy fit like the company personally hurt their feelings.

A person mainly playing on PC is either happy or just don't care if a game that was only on PC comes to console.

Like me, for example, No Rest for the Wicked is one my most anticipated games and I was very happy when they announced a PS5 version of the game. The game has according to the devs sold really well on Steam already, but the more sales the better.

The only worry I have when a console version is announced is if the game get's "dumbed down" to make it playable on console, but that's a risk the dev/pub has to calculate themself and not be suprised if it bombs because the main playerbase is on PC and then the PC playerbase disliking the game because it was dumbed down (Civ VII as an example, might happen to Total War Warhammer too).

"dumbed down"
Dont think that has been an issue because of "consoles" in decades. Faults with civ7 pretty much nothing to do with dumbed down for consoles but fundamental design issues, I assume because they felt they needed to do things differently than before.

Also you cant first say that you dont care that a game comes to consoles and then directly say you worry a console version will make the pc version worse!

Also in defense of xbros, in general many have been happy to share games, I was primarly playing on xbox for the longest time and them going multiplat was only a good thing, exclusives in the gaming industry needs to end.

I do think it has been an issue for consoles, so I disagree with that. Console versions have made the game worse. I quickly remember the whole debacle when Ready or Not released on console and multiple elements was removed from the Steam version because the devs didn't manage to put it into the console version.

Not all games fits into the console wherever it is technical limitation (GPU, CPU) or controller limitation, so consoles get's a simplified version and sometimes the PC version receives that simplified version too.

Yeah, not sure you can blame the consoles for Civ VII being a bag of flaming shit. Civ VI was ported to the consoles and, barring the lack of mods, they're decent versions of the game.

The reason Civ VII sucks is because Firaxis modularised the entire game so bits could be slotted in and out. This was a gambit to sell DLC piecemeal, and it backfired spectacularly.

Every flaw with the game comes down to the fact that it doesn't feel like a cohesive whole, but all mini segments slammed together.

Civs without set leaders allows them to sell Civs and leaders separately.

Breaks between eras allows them to slot "new eras" in without breaking anything, and those eras were probably planned to be sold as DLC.

They designed the bigger game to be a sum of interchangeable parts, and those parts are almost mini Civ-likes in and of themselves.

It was a massive moneymaking grift and they should be ashamed of themselves. Greed killed that game, not the console ports.

Oh did not know that. I stand corrected then.

Still dont really buy that it got "dumbed down" because of consoles. When the most PC ass PC games are on consoles like Crusader King and such, the only thing that needs to be accounted for is being able to control the game with a controller and have manageable and readable UI. Then if devs streamline their games and want all versions to be the same is another matter.

I don't think we see much in the way of technical limitations between consoles and PC like it was in the olden days.

We're nor seeing a situation like where RAM limits on PS2 forced the devs to put up giant walls every 20 feet in the Deus Ex port.

But I do think with some games, the transition to gamepad is difficult. There are certain kinds of strategy games that just don't work well on console, with the devs sneaking in a keyboard and mouse mode.

So yeah, sometimes it's hard to translate that. However, we even see it go the other way in PC games where the dev straight up says they want you to use a controller (regardless of whether they put keyboard and mouse controls in or not) so honestly it works both ways.

I don't see that as "dumbing down" like we saw in the 90s and 00s, though. It's more of a design problem/failure than a game being inferior because consoles are inherently less capable.

Streaming update for today:

Anybody know why my non-steam game suddenly stopped showing I am playing it through steam?

Was working fine.

Just means I can't use steam input (I know I can use a program but that requires exiting steam completely).

Well okay I got overlay working..but still says I ain't playing it (so no time tracking).

I changed nothing why lol.
