I have to say, im super impressed with the switch 2! After playing Breath of the Wild and now just started playing Metroid Prime 4 and being blown away how it looks! I have so many seemingly great games to play, quite hyped!
PlayStation and Xbox Console Sales Collapse Following Damaging Price Rises
May was a catastrophic month for PlayStation and Xbox sales in the U.S., driven by price rises that have clearly had a significant impact on consumer interest in buying a new console.
It's only going to get worse.
So there have been quite a few memory related price hits this week or so. Steam machine, Xbox and then Apple as well. None of it was surprising but this specific line in the Microsoft note just completely spooked me
GTA6 has got to be worth it.
So I ended up ordering a grey market PS5 pro. Paid through the nose for it because Sony hasn't released this model officially in my country and, in fact, hasn't sent any PS5 hardware here at all for at least 3 months (since the price hike happened). Technically we don't know what the new price of the PS5 is because they never sold a single console after raising the prices.
GTA6 has got to be worth it.
I spent the past day configuring my tv and console setup to run more smoothly. The starting point was ordering the expensive HDMI switch GUIDE-4 from thenaudio to be able to connect more devices to my lg g5 tv without annoying manual switching. I now have my windows PC connected to HDMI 1, an earc soundbar switching between Apple TV and another media player connected to HDMI 2, my custom SteamOs Machine connected to HDMI 3 and the GUIDE-4 switching between Switch 2 and Playstation 5 Pro connected to HDMI 4. There is even room to add two additional HDMI devices to the GUIDE-4.
The GUIDE-4 works well. There were some quite severe handshaking issues with the Playstation 5 Pro, but they were completely solved by disabling HDCP, which I have no use for anyway.
The best part of all of this is that I think I am finally over the Steam Machine hype. I have no need for it with my current setup. The price is too high for a device that will perform much worse than my custom machine, especially after upgrading RAM, the internal SSD and so on. I should probably remove myself from the waitlist at this point ...

This seems like Nintendo's take on looter shooter. I love Salmon Run so this one seems to be a potential fun time, too. Nice, another game to get in the future

Maybe people should start sending literal physical letters to their local Sony office, if only because it will piss them off. But it may also make a point.

I kind of wanted to put the new console through it's paces so I ended up buying a copy of Black Flag. It came with a small artbook and a map. It's not much but I still appreciate it and it reminded me of how things used to be in the late 90s/early 2000s.

Slight hyperbole aside, the BC-250 is an affordable and impressive system.
That you can get a capable 1080p PC running Bazzite for about the same price as a Switch 2 is super impressive.
I recently finished the main story of Xenoblade Chronicles 1 Switch 2 Edition. I bought the game last year from the Eshop but I didn't play it back then since it didn't look all that great. With the Switch 2 Update the visual clarity is much better. However the frame-rate does not stay at a consistent 60 fps in certain areas of the game. Overall though I really enjoyed the story.
Gonna see if I can get a used copy of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 for cheap and then upgrading it to the Switch 2 edition to save some money.

I bought a (used) Nintendo Switch OLED for my 13yo daughter. Any games you guys can recommend for her or for us to play together?
Can't say without knowing her gaming interests. Mario Party Superstar or Jamboree is good party gaming fun, Mario Kart 8 is great. Mario 3D World and Luigi Mansion 3 are coop. Mario Odyssey great as a collectathon platformer.

Looks pretty fantastic (I'm sure partly cos of focusing on arena/one city etc., but still - edit: oh so it doesn't, there's still a full map with places to visit and all, nice).
Nice AA or DLSS since there's very little shimmering too (unlike something like Metaphor and such).

I was watching some Xenoblade 2 Switch 2's footage. DUDE... The game looks so good and smooth. I really want to revisit the game. Literally one of my GOATs. But I hate that I don't have time for another hardware. All my consoles are sitting idle at the moment.
Also re-watched Xenoblade Genesis teasers for a few times. The shaders on those characters look really good. The settings are also growing on me. Can't wait to see its next showing. Also look forward to Xenoblade 3 Switch 2 edition, too.
Don't really have interest in Fortune's Weave now but it looks great. Still haven't played Three Houses and Engage. I prefer SRPG with fewer customizations and social stuff.
Edit: Also re-watched the reveal trailer of Xenoblade 3. They showed multiple towns, mid-game areas and scenes in there. Biome is diverse. Meanwhile, the Genesis trailer is very brief and the locale basically stays the same (forest and some random cave), so I'm confident to say that they are hiding A LOT of things.

looks like this is only really gonna have a couple routes(engaging in the time traveling thing or not) instead of the 4-5 I was expecting which makes me feel a lot better about it
they did also specifically say before the Genesis trailer that it's from the early parts of the game which I don't think they've ever said with a trailer before
what we've seen so far is probably pulled from like the first 10 hours of the game or something

Thinking about removing Xenoblade X, 1 and 2 Switch 2 editios from my wishlist. Great games, but I don't see myself having time in my life to do a replay of those games.
Outside of Ocarina of Time Remake, there's nothing in the horizon to use my Switch 2 for.
I have considered Pokotopia, but since I have no interest in Pokemon, I guess I should skip it?

I have never played anything Pokemon and havent watched any of the cartoons. That said, I played Pokotopia and quite enjoyed it! I would almost say its a more free animal crossing that takes heavy inspiration from minecraft. It does some things really neatly. But yeah I had no idea who any of the creatures were but that actually not that important, even so, the setting is quite interesting, one could assume its super family friendly but its actually a post-apocalyptic world lol
