Steam - December 9th

Do we have number for how much Ashen sold in EGS? This game disappeared from any discussion a month after release.
What's Ashen like? I watched some gameplay videos and it had a fantastic style yet the lantern mechanic seemed like it would start annoying me but aside from that i've heard next to nothing about it.
It's souls.

Again, why would Valve care? Steam hasn't felt any significant hit from EGS actions, neither in sheer revenue or customers, or number of new games released or anything. Microsoft wanted to use that rule to make their new console more attractive with respect to the competition, it's understandable, if pretty misguided.
I could see Valve adding rules that prevent something like the Metro situation, where if you have been on pre-order for a certain while, you can't just switch to another store before release, or risk that Valve ask for all the money back + prevent the pub from releasing a new game for a certain while.

It has been harmless for the most part but it could have been bad. There is really no way of knowing until these games start releasing on steam and seeing how well they are selling. Or what happens to some of these dev teams down the line.

Also it can still get even worse. Epic starts moneyhatting even more next year. They start yanking games off the steam store that have been on steam for a while...(kind of like the Rocket League thing that will most likely happen). Pubs and devs continuing to treat an open platform like shit. It stupid and harmful to pc gaming as a whole. If Valve can prevent this stuff from escalating even further they should do it.

Also Ass Odyssey sale going on (including Steam, including Season Pass).

They should at least implement some kind of measure against pubsdevs keeping misleading store pages around. But it's a difficult balance, like pointing out that the game has gone timed-exclusive could also be seen as advertising the other store. And if these deals happen so sudden and unexpected and shady pubs like Bigben just can't be arsed to change their store pages in time there'll always be a delay. Still it really is in Valve's best interest to get a handle on this because it directly affects the experience of consumers using the store who now can't be sure about anything anymore.

This discount is disappointing.
Also in Middle East regions, Ubi games cost a little more than their USD price.

To buy Remnat or not to buy Remnant.
I like looty shooty and the aesthetics appeal too me.
Well, as I replied earlier to fantomena, here is what I think

If you’re thinking about picking it up, be warned that there are plenty of bugs to be sorted out. Personally, I restarted when I was three hours in because achievements weren’t unlocking and now it looks like I have to reroll the campaign because of a bug that will not let me advance in the game after five hours.

However, the game is damn fun and a couple of devs are active in the OT on Era. They’re working on the bugs and looks like the game will have a bright future with the plans they have for it. In the meantime though, if you’re willing to take a chance and hope you don’t run into any issues, I say pick it up!

Keep em coming. I’m probably not gonna bother with it until its cheap because of the EGS deal but seeing the deals start to end is so gratifying. Now if Satisfactory comes to Steam ill buy it day 1.

It's like Dark Souls but imagine you have generic "hunt 5" and "fetch items from a corpse" quests that sound you again and again into the same spots on the games little open world-lite maps with no resemblance of level design, while you fight monsters with a choice of like three different weapon types and an A.I. partner who can do all the killing for you while you sit back and enjoy a Maitai.

Interesting. Launched Hitman 2 shortly and exited. Steam recognized I own Hitman 1 and the legacy levels started downloading. Checking the license activation page in steam shows I was granted the legacy pack.
But... If I go to the legacy pack DLC store page it is not marked as owned. Very curious.
I still believe it would be enough for me to purchase the legacy upgrade pack to get everything, but I still think IO handles these activations very weirdly.

That should be correct. Because... you don't actually own the Legacy Pack DLC. :)
The Legacy Pack DLC is for those who own both the full HITMAN game + the GOTY content. You only own the first.

To quote the Steam page:

«This is the full Legacy Pack, which includes all remastered locations and missions from Season 1 and The Game of The Year Upgrade.

The bundle includes:
  • All content from Season 1
  • The Patient Zero Bonus campaign
  • 3 Themed Escalation Contracts
  • 3 extra Outfits
  • 3 extra Weapons »

For example, I own the GOTY edition of the previous game, and on the Steam store, I'm marked as owning the Legacy Pack DLC.

Since you only own part of the content, you have a cheaper upgrade option, so that you can get the missing content.
That's why there's two options.

Im curious: how many games do you guys have currently installed on Steam?

I have 116 installed at the moment but I used to have 210 installed (My old hard drive died) I'd like to have more installed but I have a data cap so it's pretty much make a list each month and see what I can safely download without disrupting my cap too much along with what I will most likely want to play and will probably play in the near or far (6~ months) future.

That's what I keep telling myself at least

It's okay. Good for a single playthrough at the very least, got bored by the second one, despite a lot of talk about replay-ability and procedural generation.
There's also a lot of very strange and lazy design decisions, could've used another 3-6 months of development imho.

While Valve should probably do something on the back end to stop publishers from dicking around with store pages/release dates (and theyve started to do so), letting EGS and the devs air all their stupidity in public while Steam does its usual thing, has, if anything; payed off better for Valve so far.
Theyve incrementally improved some smaller things - the labs, the release date rule change, the upcoming (maybe one day) interface changes. And what has EGS done? EGS has failed to live up to all but the 88/12 split promise at this point, and several devs have shown just how petty/stupid they are with their PR by calling their own fans out.
Valve has problems, sure, but it hasn't exacerbated any of them by staying mostly silent on the EGS front.

Reminder that Ashen hasn't gotten a single patch since the release month and the online is still broken. Wait for Steam reviews before jumping in.
Dammit. Ashen is the one game I was actually hoping to one day pick up once it reaches Steam/gog... darnit

How are the hud options in Odyssey? I tend to like my stealth games a little less hand-holdy, and prefer to not see enemies through walls. However the minimal hud in Origins went a little too far and didn't show important stuff, like loot you pick up, or the weapons that you have equipped. Is this fixed at all?

That dying light 2 footage is incredible. All the new parkour moves really expand things and make it look less repetitive as well as opening the environment choices a bit more. I'm already 100% in and they haven't really shown too much of the branching choices and all that still.

How’s The Crew 2?

I've only played on free weekends but I didn't like it at all, despite being a huge fan of the first one. It looks really bad -- worse than TC1 somehow -- and doesn't play well either. It feels like driving bumper cars and the world isn't as appealing to explore because it's just painful to look at at times. When it's raining, it doesn't look half bad, but in dry conditions it's as if it's missing shaders or something. I legitimately spent time to look up whether my game bugged out, I was in such disbelief at the graphics.

I see. Thanks for your comments. I think I’ll give it a try and refund if it sucks.

In some patch they completely reworked the lighting, which was barely there at first and lead to a flat look and not seeing anything during nighttime. Game itself is a step down, the story in 1 was duuuuumb but it gave you motivation to drive through the country, explore. That's gone now, no reason not to just fasttravel from one event to the next. Makes one wonder why they built the whole country. Lots of other weird design decisions too with changes that made things worse. I still put in 20hrs or so but compared to Forza Horizon 3/4.... no competition.

I liked the crew 2 if only for the planes and water vehicles.

Too bad the game does nothing interesting with them, maybe they added more variety but I recall doing the same boring stuff over and over again.

apparently the deal was made SO LATE that all the influencers and reviewers got steam keys for the game (WRC 8)!

Epic seems to count on consumer backlash to keep their exclusives and shitty store under attention. That's a really, really disgusting way of doing business. I can't possibly understand why people are still defending them.

Steam - December 9th

Not for me. Ashen and all other Annapurna games involved in store exclusivity deals are - and stay - on my ignore list. I'll consider buying future games from Annapurna once they get their head out of Epic's ass. 😉

there was one streamer streaming it last week (a few days ago) ... and people were asking him if it's a steam copy or not ... and he said it was
furthermore, in places like Keymailer, a website that serves as a way of streamers to request codes for games, has it listed as a steam key as well.

Can't wait. Day 1!
