The subreddit which is run by riot was censoring hundreds of comments and posts mentioning the hong kong situation. Scummy as shit
The subreddit isn't really run by Riot, and the sub has had a fairly long history of deleting even mildly "off-topic" content.

Their "off-topic" rule is followed to the point where last month, they were even deleting Riot made videos for an upcoming esport event (the LEC finals in Athens) because they deemed them somehow off-topic (supposedly because they showed no gameplay in the video). They've become so notorious for doing that sort of thing that casters, pros, team owners, content creators and even Riot employees have complained about them deleting relevant content (for years actually). They definitely have a relationship with Riot, but they don't seem to actually take orders from them considering that.

Which is all to say, if they were willing to delete a Riot video about an official esport event because it didn't adhere to their strict definition of "on-topic," I'm not at all shocked the Hong Kong Attitude post-match thread was closed for politics discussion.

I do wonder what the sub and Riot will do if a pro player makes a pro-Hong Kong statement during an interview. League pros have a much larger reach than HS pros, so trying to censor or fine them for it would backfire with their loyal fanbases pretty hugely.

Super Turbo has more content. I don't know which I prefer, but they're both good. Make sure you head over to the workshop and pick up some skins. Tomb Raider, Bayo, Samus, etc. It's a really great feature.
Oooooh yeah thanks!

This just released

Description sounds great
Let me get my wallet.

I see that there is no naughty stuff but the game does have workshop support. So can Workshop stuff be Adult Only?

Gameplay does look decent and I may eventually pick it up. We need more dating sims..... I'm lonely

Played an hour or so of Indivisible. Need to get a better hang for the combat system but it's fun. Only thing I didn't like so far is the writing but I've seen worse. Also it may be only my ears but I think I've heard the voice actress for the protagonist lose and gain their accent again and again.

Anyone played Bradwell Conspiracy yet? Haven't seen anything about it yet and when I checked earlier there was only one review.

I have mixed feelings about the Doom delay. I'm both saddened and relieved! This has been my most anticipated game ever since it was released so I'm disappointed with the news, but I've also bought so many games the past couple of months alone that I could do with a break from buying games. I don't think I have anything left to look forward to this year besides Pokemon, and maybe Digimon and Red Dead 2.

For that discussion about the "d-pad" on the Steam controller, I only recently found out you can turn off requiring pressing it, so you can essentially turn it into a trackpad-d-pad which is, IMO, much better than the default. It takes some getting used to though and I still need to tweak it for like size and everything.

I love it.
Reddit recently got a $150 million investment from Tencent, so I'd expect shit like that across the site really.
I'm in the inner circle of the "Tencent is a Danger to Democracy and Non-Authoritarian Values" Club, but I do think the theories about their impact on companies they invest in needs a little clarification.

In the case of Reddit, I don't think it's that in danger of overt censorship. If censorship was going to be regular at a "grassroots" level, Tencent would need to find a way to worm ghost accounts into moderation positions, which would takes a significant amount of time to do. Or they'd need to pay off hundreds of moderators or give explicit moderating instructions, which seems like it would leak in about two seconds.

And considering that threads about Hong Kong and posts from /r/HongKong routinely make /r/all, that doesn't seem to have happened yet. Even /r/Hearthstone is pasted in anti-Blizzard, pro-Hong Kong rhetoric, and the mods are obviously fine with it over there. Hell, /r/WoW, /r/classicWoW, /r/Overwatch, /r/Starcraft and /r/heroesofthestorm have all made allowances for the Hearthstone discussion to be had on their subreddits, even though it's technically off-topic. Like I said /r/LoL's moderators are known to be dumbasses, so I wouldn't be surprised if the bad moderation of that thread came from one rogue actor like ReganDryke acting on their own (the comments have since been unlocked, and a number of the pro-HK comments restored in that thread and in the free-for-all daily thread).

If sites like Reddit see a negative impact from Tencent's investment, it's more likely to be in things like data-mining shared with the government for their Social Credit bullshit, which is less of an issue for us, and way more of an issue for any Chinese ex-pats (although it would still impact us). I'd also expect to continue seeing the number of pro-Chinese government bot/shill/whitewashing accounts rise, but that's not necessarily a Tencent thing, but an actual government thing.

And less concretely, I could also see a lot of subs enacting way more stringent anti-politics rules to minimize the amount of Chinese bots that come over and brigade their sub. I wouldn't do it if I was in charge, but if I was the moderator of a larger sub with some major traffic, I could easily see the temptation to ban political discussions so I wouldn't have to deal with thousands of dumbass pro-9/11 and pro-California succession comments from Chinese trolls (those were going up all over Twitter yesterday from Chinese accounts after the NBA/Houston Rockets ordeal).

Anyways, in regards to the League of Legends stuff, I went through some old VODs, and while casters did refer to the team as "Hong Kong Attitude" a few more times back then, it does seem like they were still largely referred to by the acronym of "HKA." I've also found some rumors that the owner of the team may not be that pro-HK and more pro-China, so it's possible that the move to almost completely referring them to as "HKA" might not be Tencent related and more team related. I'm still in a wait-and-see mode with League to see what happens if a big pro like Sneaky or Perks were to say something pro-HK.

Really should post this on this site as well as Era, shouldn't I?

Anyone who purchased Indivisible from Fanatical might want to take a look at their order and Fanatical store page for their region. Region-specific keys now exist, and there's a chance your order may not activate in your region. I live in Malaysia, and when I ordered from them on the 20th of September their store page stated their key activated here. Now it explicitly says it will not activate here. I've contacted them via support page, but support doesn't open for another few hours. :/

I also guess that stores other than Fanatical may have region-locked keys in place of the previous unlocked ones now, too.
Uh oh...

I couldn't redeem Planet Alpha from the monthly bundle because of this and guess who also now has trouble activating Indivisible too? :suicide-blob:

I pre-ordered it from Greenmangaming though and not Fanatical. This is the first time I experience this issue with any order from them. I understand region locking keys from very cheap regions, but this is not the case for me here with this game. Hell, if anything, it's probably more expensive on occasion for me to get keys outside of Steam, so I really don't understand this iron grip some publishers are handling this region lock issue with.

Should I try activating it with a vpn? I remember a JaseC post about a year ago mentioning that we should be able to activate the games with a vpn without any issues whatsoever but that we'd have to wait 3 months before playing them. However, I haven't seen this method mentioned by any one in these discussions lately. Instead everyone is warning that it could lead to a Gaben ban/suspension. Has there been any recent change in the rules where it's stricter now or are people just unaware of that method? I know that it works, or at least used to work because that's how I redeemed a COD Infinite Warfare key I got from CDKeys last year.

Guys that played (or are playing) AI The Somnium Files, can you confirm to me that's correct that the cutscenes are locked to 30 fps?

Hi all.
Don’t talk much but that’s just me. Wanted to say thanks for all the entertainment and information. Couple of weeks ago and completely without warning I had a diabetic related fit which turned into a heart attack and then permanent angina.
Had a quadruple bypass and managed to go home a couple days ago.
Through the last couple weeks of which I have memory of about half, this thread and a couple over at resetera kept me entertained and my mind off things so thanks to you all :)

It’s a bit difficult to be at a PC screen for reasons, though I can run a hdmi cable to a tv where I am. Anyone have any Bluetooth kB and mouse recommendations?
Holy cow! As terrifying as that sounds, I'm super glad you managed to shake it off in the end! We really should savor every moment we get. Best wishes for your recovery kafiend :cat-heart-blob: :cat-heart-blob:
Is this a shitty day for everyone or just me ? Wait, don't answer.
Well if the potential of wasting away $30 on an irredeemable indivisible key counts, then yeah, count me in

China/Blizzard is getting dragged into hell itself and I'm here for it and the memes

BlizzCon will be most certainly a hoot to see and the memes will be hilarious
I'm expecting a number of people to get thrown out for pro-Hong Kong attire, and I'm so ready.

Blizzard self-destructing after years of being shits, and people finally seeing through the veneer is just:

I heard that activating via VPN doesn't work anymore.

Steam will only let you activate the key if your account is set to the same country as the key is restricted to, VPNs don't work anymore. I had the same issue with Planet Alpha, but oh well.

Try contacting GMG, that's your best bet now.

TWIL that Destiny 2 crashes/freezes completely whenever EVGA Precision X1 is active. I closed Precision X1 and the game will run smooth sailing.

I wonder how that will work out, since Steam has restrictions with games and DLC. Some devs are still doing the patch thing off-site but what about mods?

I have not played the game yet so I don't know what you can and can not mod and share via the workshop.

When I read the store description it did seem like it would be an adult only game but that did not seem to be the case based off some screenshots.

I'm curious as to how naughty the mod is because it's possible that the content found in the mod may be considered Adult only and potentially get them in trouble.

By the way what keeps "nude mods" from appearing on the Steam Workshop? Do people just report them right away or something?
