+ rumour about 202139's one

Reddit user bT100236B claims that it is a spin-off title, set, believe it or not, during the 1960s in "flower power hippie San Francisco". Furthermore, the game is apparently a side project similar to Rogue and will return to "old school Assassin's Creed" gameplay with fewer RPG elements and less open world. Here is the full post:

  • Takes place during the 1960s "flower power" hippie San Francisco.
  • Return to "old school assassins creed" gameplay. As in less open-world and RPG elements. Just one city.
  • Set to release fall of 2021 (the next one is coming this October.)
  • More or less a side project compared to Vikings. Think Rogue compared to Unity.
  • Developed by Ubisoft Montreal.
  • Some notable figures include Grace Slick and Jim Morrison. John F Kennedy is in the game briefly. Lyndon Johnson is one of the main antagonists.
  • Grappling hook returns from Syndicate.
  • A silenced handgun is the main weapon. The hidden blade is still in the game.
  • Pick between either Alice or Adam Durie. Like Syndicate, you can switch between both. Unlike Syndicate, they both share one simple talent tree.

I would welcome a more focused experience to be honest but the RPG elements of Origins and Odyssey were praised. Origins stroke a nice balance between exploration, quests and story. Odyssey went overboard in my opinion with an astounding amount of rather dull side content.
I miss the purity of the first two games.

Yeah, me too.
As said in the other thread: I wish they'd make something of the vikings setting and not just put out Odyssey with a viking skin.

I loved Odyssey, though I do agree that a lot of the side content is pretty mundane. I wish Ubisoft would embrace the open-world RPG fully, and do a full on fantasy game without the trappings of AC.
