I was talking with BlindRhythm about reducing our shopping at Amazon and other online retailers. This year I’ll try to do exactly that, if anything to reduce the amount of cardboard they send.
Yep! You've definitely got my support with this. Like I mentioned to you, this is a battle you're not fighting alone!:heroblob:

There's only two guaranteed times I order from Amazon these days and that's around Black Friday and Christmas for a few gifts. I've gotten better about ordering less throughout the year and once I'm able to move and don't live in the middle of nowhere anymore I should be able to cut those online orders out completely.

Damn I fell back to the YouTube hole. I thought I was watching things that were good for me, like photography stuff but it's all the same, junk!XD So instead of being productive in the mornings I just would watch lots of junk. So I really need to be more firm with my "no distractions until after dinner".

I never really watch youtube stuff all that much, I just find it hard to dedicate any time into it because everything seems to be an half an hour video these days, I think I'm just extremely bad at time management, I could probably sit around and doing jack shit for hours without realizing it :p I already don't watch movies or tv.

I think I'm going to try harder to focus on my tasks one at a time, maybe if I need to look up internet I'll do it all at once and download whatever I need instead of multitasking.

Anteater You should start that art thread you mentioned.:)
I've been thinking about it, but still thinking what I should put in the OT. I originally wanted to make it a newbie thread since I'd be the one that would want tips and help :p I also am not sure how many would participate so making it a catch-all kind of thread where people could also just post their stuff would be nice.

A general art thread would've great, people can post stuff and be newbies.

Posted it somewhere else but wanted to share it here as well.

Since 2018 or so I’ve been dabbling on minimalism, and this year I made a resolution to go ham on it.

I did an instance of the Konmari method (piling everything you have and discarding things that don’t spark joy, invented by Marie Kondo) on my stuff and now I’ve discarded, sold, or donated 95% of the stuff I have, and I’m amazed by how I don’t miss any of that.

By practicing minimalism, I’m no longer chasing ‘the next thing’, nor I’m not upset or sad by not having it. I don’t have to worry about someone breaking into my apartment and taking my stuff since there’s little to take, and what’s there it can be easily replaced. The idea of insuring things like that looks crazy to me now.

My days are more productive since I can go to bed and wake up earlier because there’s little maintenance to be done, I no longer have ‘I have to clean this fucking mess’ thoughts anymore eating precious mental space. Cleaning is easier than ever, and, fuck me, I even enjoy it.

I’ve narrowed my hobbies and interests (and by consequence, my belongings) since I realized I only have so much time in the day and attention span I can spare to uneventful things. FOMO is gone as well, since I concentrate on things I really like.

And the mental peace that comes with it is priceless. Very little time is spent thinking in things, and more time is dedicates to people, experiences, etc.

If you’re curious about it, I invite you to read ‘The Life Changing Magic of Tidying up’ by Marie Kondo and ‘Goodbye things’ by Fumio Sasaki.

So I've decided to spend the night hours staying home instead and only do grocery shopping on the weekends, town is kind of paranoid with the coronavirus stuff and I don't feel like doing my walks with a mask on all the time. Good thing is I get a few hours free but I've become a shut-in outside of my morning runs :grimacing-face:

I´m a bit late but well:

  • Before 2030 i want to stop working all together and to be honest i dont want to destroy myself working untill i die.
  • I want to graduate from university, economics (currently gonna start second year this year, 3 more to go but it will be 5 probably...and im not a kid, so it takes time and more effort i guess?)
  • Release my music since noone had the chance (well this forum had) to listen to it, but i need to finish my songs first.
  • I want to travel around my country with my motorcycle at some point

Notion, a note keeping, an organising app, think Evernote, Trello and the like in one, has gone free! It was always free but there was a limit on how much content you could add, but now there is no limit!

I've been using it for awhile now and at first I was little off put by how free you are to style everything but now I love it! I use it on MacOS, Win10 and my Oneplus 6t

This looks great! I currently use OneNote and Microsoft ToDo for most of my tasks and notes, and while ToDo is excellent I find OneNote tries to force you to work to Microsoft's spec rather than being more free-form. It feels constricting sometimes. This might be a useful replacement for that.

I'll give it a look. It looks like I can flexibly make todos in it, flexibly store different kinds of notes for my writing, and also keep track of all my agent queries.

I've honestly done nothing the past month and a half other than work and used all my free time playing video games, when I was supposed to be productive. I realized I'm not learning quick enough or at all so I've taken a break and that break lasted a bit too long...

Yeah same here. But to be fair, world needed some escaping from so I'm not too hard on myself for choosing games over productivity some days.

I haven't done much of anything in the past month or two either, really lacking the energy lately.

Oh neat. I've been keeping my eye on something that I can use to effectively replace google's notes app along some other small apps so I'm definitely giving this one a go.

I actually ended up uninstalling it in the end. :blobweary:

It wasn't really what I was looking for after all. Even though it does all the things I wanted from it, there were just some UI and functional niggles here and there that made me uninstall it.

Yeah as I wrote before at first I wasn't feeling it but it's very customizable and with the latest update I even moved my journal to it.

Is it just me, but I often get super inspired and want to do stuff but when I try to do something I'm just so unfocused that I get nothing done? How does one use that inspiration as productive fuel?

So we are past the halfway mark! How is everyone doing?

I kind of failed at cutting back junk like youtube and having clear times when I do stuff. But I do still keep it in mind and do keep productive during the day.

I try also to keep active with trying meet people in hopes to find someone!

AND while it goes slowly, I am trying to learn to program.

I'm still keeping up with my routine each day, run > work > sketching > work > sleep, but I've also spent a lot of time doing nothing but playing video games.

With COVID I'm grateful I still got to do all of those, especially when unemployment is spiking up, I feel a bit uncertain about the future at times so I'm just trying my best each day and saving up. but I'm also quite literally just glued to the same spot for hours each day :p

I'm thinking about making a complete pause on games and delete my YouTube accounts for the rest of the year. Just to get into gear. Feels like I haven't taken any steps towards things I need to do.

About games, I'm thinking about deleting my windows bootcamp just so I can't play games even if I wanted. But man can't leave persona 4 half finished.

wow it's the end of 2021 already, it's a rough year for me but I'm happy to have kept my job and got by and saved up a bit, not getting enough work lately so those help.

This year I started drawing again, output isn't too high but I tried. Alcoholism is still a problem, I drank quite heavily through out this whole year, planned to either quit cold turkey in 2022 or at least toning it down. I'm out of shape so that really made things much harder because my only way to cope a few years back was through running everyday for hours, the rest was taking care of my dogs, now I can barely run a few km.

Well, I've started to actually teach myself Blender in a more structured way lately, here and there when time permits. Did the famous donut tutorial and all that. Previously I had just been dipping in and out of it as needed instead of like, you know, really learning what the hell I'm actually doing. It's hard to unlearn some bad habits in the process.

Look at my donut!

That was made with the old tutorial that used hair particle system for the sprinkles, and just like two weeks ago blender guru refreshed the tutorial for the donut to use a new method for them, geometry nodes.
But I actually don't like the look of the donut in the new tutorial, and the new tutorial also doesn't have the coffee cup at all, so instead I duplicated my blend file and replaced the hair sprinkles with geometry sprinkles. Tada!

I also have this animation which was part of the first tutorial, and the sprinkle rain was part of the second tutorial, so I combined them.

Something new I thought I would try to learn this year, or more that I would do a more deep dive into it, graphic design! I have always loved it and been pretty good at it, but when I had to start designing graphic art for my YouTube stuff did I realise just how much I had forgotten! So I downloaded a 25gb graphic design video course!

Deleted Instagram once again. I don't use it tbh and the app being there just makes me to do infinite scrolling at bed.

Will also limit my Twitter time. I really hate being shown stupid shit, doomerism shit, and honestly I don't even tweet that much myself.

I use Instagram a lot but I actually very rarely check the feed. Same for Twitter. I really should learn how to be more social.
