I’ll try to fix my awful sleeping habits. At 10:30PM I’ll turn off my computer, then wind down by brushing my teeth, skincare, relaxing music then and go straight to bed.

Update :cat-heart-blob: 146 KG.
Thats 50 KG lost in 362 days since i started.
Holy shit that's amazing! I saw that you walk 6 kms per day, how many steps is that?

And what do you eat and not eat?

I was like 70kg after living almost two years on the streets but now after having an apartment since late 2018 and covid times Ive gained 20kg! I need to really turn this around again.

Feels like I always have so much to do that I never really do anything. So I'm thinking about doing something drastic, that I will stop watching series and movie, and YouTube, completely at home! (MCU will still be watched!)

There is this saying that we aren't creative because we are never bored and that is so true for me, I seriously watch YouTube while I make my morning coffee, its small moments like that when I should be disappearing into my own mind.

Maybe I need to stop with puzzle games on my phone, I do those always when I need to wait for something or taking public transport, again could be good times to think and reflect.

I will of course go to the cinema for movie and play video games at home.

Any of you tried to schedule your days? I mean mostly for stuff outside obviously scheduled stuff, like work or school? Since there is so much I want to do I keep jumping back and forth between everything, I thought I would try and schedule my days so that I can dedicate a few hours to everything and not have to worry about what to do.

I would not function without a schedule or some sort of GTD setup. I barely do with it!

Its not that hard to come up things you want to do right? The hard part is finding the time!

Here is something I did to try it out. Look very few things but I can dedicate time to them, since I don't really have anything that I must do, except my studies, which is two hours per day.

I should add, media in the schedule isn't watching tv haha, put planning or making videos.

Unfortunately my job requires me to do different things every day, so my calendar would be a big 'WORK' from 8 AM to 10 PM because I don't even have a set lunch time.

I just block my weekday personal calendar out with “work”, because my employer has strictly closed systems that I can’t connect my devices or personal accounts to. So all my detailed calendars for work are on my work PC.

So essentially I shift between two calendars depending on whether I’m at work or not.

Yeah I do realise I'm in a position where I can actually dedicate time to projects and feel kind of bad that I havent been more organised and actually done stuff while I had the chance.

It's been suggested to me that I should try to schedule my life, but the problem I find is that I won't stick to it.
It's too easy for me to just say 'nah not today' to any number of things I could schedule, and just not follow through.

Yeah I can be the same, I was very motivated with my new schedule... then I got both the cold and the deck, so now I'm mostly chilling haha. But I do think it is important with routines to segment out parts of ones time to things one wants to do, it helps one drop that feeling of "I should be doing this and that" and can just do what you had scheduled to do. Well at least that is my hope.

Reading what I posted about almost 3 years ago, and I can say the following:

1. I'm doing pretty well as being a good father.
2. I'm taking care of my health, we are having better eating habits though between work and spending time with my child I stopped exercising.
3. I did not get a promotion, but my leadership changed and we get along well.

  • Going to try run a full marathon, probably.
  • Start drawing and use my twitter account
  • Learn something new, don't know what yet.
  • Want to do some volunteer work.
  • Rewiring my brain to enjoy things again instead of stressing over every little thing.
This post is pretty funny from few years ago.

First goal: Covid happened
Second goal: Twitter got bought out by Musk
Forth goal: Covid happened

I mean covid shouldn't stop me from doing a ton of things but it certainly affected them :p

It was kind of painful to check back at my wishes and realising that in three years it hadn’t moved at all, in fact gotten worse!

but yeah, Covid happened.

but still, I did go and get a masters, dated a lot and such. And what I want is still the same, get healthy, start a family, learn programming/gamedev, and of course find a steady job too.

I need to figure out how to enjoy things again without alcoholism, I don't want my rest of my life to depend on it.

I'm gonna focus and fix my self discipline.
Last month there were tons of local stores here doing year-end sale, so I couldn't resist and buy tons of videogames. Now? My wallet is getting thin and I am absolutely sick of myself when I see so many games lying in the closet gathering dust. These few weeks I am getting rid of some physical games and trying to avoid videogame shops and steam store as much as possible. This is going well so far because I haven't spent a dime on videogames. I am also putting effort into some of my other hobbies like plastic model kits.

You have already taken the first step by realizing that the addiction is damaging. So I would recommend avoiding alcohol section in supermarket and stores. And try to put your energy and attention into something else. I am sure that you will be able to win at the end. You have MC on your back. :dualbladesblob:

Anyone use Obsidian? Im trying to move away from Notion and Obsidian seems great, but it takes a lot of effort for it to look good! Anyone managed to make it awesome?

I've dabbled in it, but not much. I just use it to structure notes for my Novel so I don't need to make too many modifications.

My workflow is as follows:

1) Come up with idea, write it in my indexed paper notepad. I use a Leuchturm1917 lined notepad with a Lamy ballpoint pen. I'm actually very particular about this because I want the right thickness of pen, the line spacing has to be perfect and the paper needs to be able to tolerate it.

2) When I'm ready to compile ideas I re-write them in Obsidian and include a scan of the handwritten version (including a page number) in case I make a mistake in my transcription.

3) I use Obsidian side-by-side or top-to-bottom (screen depending) with my writing application (Scrivener) and I can reference parts of it easily.

I currently sync Obsidian with iCloud (it even works with Windows), but I'm always on the lookout for better options.

Looks
In terms of making it look good, the key is to finding a theme you like, which depends entirely on what you use it for (mine is 100% words).

I'm actually happy with the Things theme, so I haven't had to make too many modifications. I also don't use any community plugins (yet), but you should seriously consider adding some as they can add a ton of functionality and one of them probably does what you need it to.

If you find any plugins that are cool, please share them!

To be honest, looking at Obsidian and how I write, I could probably wholesale replace Scrivener with it and actually write my novel here. The way it structures files (and how I use them) is scarily similar. And I'm half-considering it, especially since Literature & Latte stubbornly insist writers use Dropbox (and only Dropbox) for sync.

The only thing I'd miss is the brilliant compile feature of Scrivener, but that only saves me 1-2 hours of my time once a year, so I'm kind of considering going for it. It'd certainly make my workflow more cross-platform, rather than having to rely on a proprietary (and paid) app to access my work.

C-Dub I too begin most of my writing on real paper, I have a nice notebook and a nice fountain pen! I know I don't need all that but it does inspire me to write. So I often just go to a Parisian cafe, listen to some music and write.(actually a dream I had to do stuff like that, that came true!)

Ive started to try out community plugins for Obsidian, mostly for some functionality that I miss from Notion, one that I really like is the Icon Folder, having an icon to ones notes is a small thing but makes everything so much nicer.

I don't have the Parisian cafe luxury, but we have a few nice cafes here in Cardiff. My favourite is Uncommon Ground, an absolutely beautiful cafe in one of my favourite arcades. I like to go there on days off, when it's a little quieter, and have a brew and do some notetaking and writing.

What Cardiff is famous for is its cocktail bars. Sometimes if I'm in the office but want to do a bit of writing afterwards, I treat myself to a cocktail, get a little tipsy and the ideas flow from my pen. Not a good idea to do this on Wednesday or Friday evenings (too busy), but any other weekday is nice and chill.

I usually go to Rum & Fizz. But if that place is too busy for my liking, there's 7-8 equally brilliant bars within spitting distance.

C-Dub That cafe looks great!

Im going to admit my sins, I often go to Starbucks lol. Mostly it was because they were reasonably priced and had free refills but they changed that and got much pricier and haven't been there that much. And sadly it has to led to me not writing that much either.

Starbucks is only marginally cheaper than good coffee, if you know where to look. I'm no coffee snob, but Starbucks tastes fucking dreadful. I'll leave the swill for the pigs.

In terms of a good coffee that I can get in Cardiff, Starbucks is only 5-10% cheaper than S-tier stuff, whereas their overroasted shit is C-tier at best.

If I want a cheap coffee, I'll buy what passes for coffee from Greggs (because it's actually cheap). Otherwise it's quality coffee from local businesses. The only chain I really go near is Black Sheep, because their coffee is actually decent and not super expensive.
