I could do without using Origin and EA using something that's useful like Steamworks but if Rockstar and Ubisoft can do it, I guess EA says "why not us"??

Still, EA definitely going for more player rentention and thinking long term than putting a quick and dirty bandage on things.

Hmmm... Nice? I'll probably like some of the games that have been missing but honestly I've followed even Ubi's releases much closer than EA's since Origin exclusivity started.

Most of EA's recent games aren't for me anymore. But i'll be happy to (re)buy some of their older games like The Saboteur, and EA originals like FE and Unraveled.

Anyway this is great news, more games being sold in multiple storefronts is exactly what pc gaming needs! I'm also happy that EA is joining Microsoft and Bethesda in removing store exclusivity from pc gaming, despite Epic trying to push it.

Edit: it seems we still need Origin installed. From the Fallen Order Steam page: EA on-line activation and Origin client software installation and background use required. That sucks. :(

The effect for me is limited because as expected The Fallen Order has terrible regional pricing over here (Origin already had full support for Brazil), but this is still huge news.

We were hoping for the older games, but instead the plan is to bring almost everything of note, including Origin Access and F2P titles. That fact that Steam is starting to work with subscription services is also very big.

And yes, knowing that some people at Epic are probably not that happy with this is a great bonus :) - though I expect the reaction to be even more aggressive ($$$) with exclusives.

Urgh that Mike Rose guy, seriously just cos you cheerlewd for Epic and they money hat doesn't mean Steam money hats too. Infact I can't think of a single reason why steam would moneyhat EA, it's been what ? 8 years since EA was on steam. A more logical conclusion is that EA has been struggling to get PC gamers to buy their shite so they have gone back to where the audience is.

Now there may have been some negotiation on percentage taken by valve but I imagine that is the case with most big publishers. But seriously this Mike guy with the "nuh huh Valve must have paid" bull.

Just block him, so you don't have to read his crap.

I'm not sure I understand why a nobody, who took some numbers and predictions out of his ass, is now suddenly someone who's opinion is supposed to mean something, as if he's some sort of expert.

I guess I’ll preorder Star Wars now. I really hate spreading my games across so many platforms on m fucking PC, so this is the chance.
Also, I wonder when will Ubi stop being a cunt and return to Steam.

They were about a day too late since I already subbed to Origin Premier to play Fallen Order, but I will definitely consider buying the game on sale in the future.

Good news for future games, and I will definitely be migrating my Apex Legends stuff over to Steam and using that for easy updates.

From an EA employee on Reddit:

It's currently required to keep the game updated, but we'd like the whole process to be as frictionless as possible. We're looking at longer-term solutions that'll make it as easy as possible for players to enjoy our games on Steam.
He was replying to this:

On the Steam page for Fallen Order :

Incorporates 3rd-party DRM: EA on-line activation and Origin client software installation and background use required.
So I guess that's confirmation they're going to Ubisoft route? Steam will launch the game via Origin?
So maybe they'll not require an installation of Origin in the future and maybe a login within the game or something.

Also, there is an article with EA's SVP:

"Since the time we removed our games from Steam, there's been this dramatic increase in the number of gaming services, which you would think would be really good for players. But I think in many cases, it's the exact opposite. It creates more difficulty for players, and providing player choice -- from my perspective and speaking on behalf of EA -- is really critical. It's an opportunity to make it possible for people to play where they want, to reduce that fragmentation and make it more frictionless... Reducing that fragmentation is really important. It's the most player-first thing we can do."
2019 is weird af.

Also, there are some salty replies in that reddit thread.

Well, these are multibillion companies, Epic can't moneyhat a big company like Microsoft, EA or even Bethesda enough to matter to them.

But Kojima Productions is a different matter. And I doubt Kojima is even very in the know about the gamer's POV of what these things even do...

More like Yu Suzuki/Shenmue 3 than EA I think. I mean, 505 Games got the publishing rights for PC, hardly a great big publisher behemoth. We'll see.

Not gonna lie, what I saw and read about the game in the last couple of weeks intrigued me. This and the dev reddit comment made me preorder the game, on Steam. Worst case scenario: I won't like what I see in the first two hours and I'll get my money back.

It looks like a competent game but I think Respawn would have been better served making a Mandalorian tie in FPS game, basically Titanfall 2 in Star Wars lore.

I'm waiting for a long time for a worthy Jedi Knight successor. I'm happy about it being Lightsaber focused tbh. I'm even more happy about it not being a button smasher and about a bit more tactical combat (hopefully).

About the mandalorian: The newest Trailer looked okay, not bad, not great. Hard to judge the show on that tbh, but after "Solo" and "Rogue One" I'm rather sceptical about SW Spinn Offs.
Another problem is: Disney+ isn't starting world wide. I believe it's just the U.S., Canada, Netherlands, GB, Australia & New Zealand. The rest of the world would have a tie in to a show that nobody is able to watch. Maybe not the best idea.

Hey, dumbass, not you, lash you already get a percentage cut if your games perform well. Needless to say, EA games probably perform well ... just maybe.

IIRC, DLC caused the entire fallout to happen in the first place. So maybe Valve just decided to apply that to DLC too and that satisfied EA enough to come back?

Just talking based on the studio's expertise being FPS and while this game looks alright it doesn't look exceptional in its melee combat or anything either.

Mandalorian based just to be current and boost sales, I dunno about the quality of the series. Otherwise it could have been its own thing like Dark Forces 1.

Valve paying for games would be pretty big change, because GabeN has been adamant before that they won't moneyhat or fund exclusives (with SteamVR at least)

I highly doubt any money changed hands over this, though I would not be surprised if adjustments to the 30/70 cut weren't made. Perhaps EA gets 20% right off the bat? I mean, it's almost guaranteed most of their games would meet the threshold anyway, why beat around the bush? Also, I think this has a LOT more to do with Destiny 2's success on Steam than anything else. According to their investor's call, they'll be pushing Apex Legends hard going forward. And I'm not exactly sure they'd want it sitting alongside its biggest competitor on the EGS.

This is huge to me. I have been slowly transitioning over to Proton/Linux over the past 3 or 4 months, and the biggest pain in the ass I have with this is my Origin account. It is always screwed up. I want Titanfall 2 especially to work, but it seems it only does with a cracked copy and I prefer to avoid that most of the time. Obviously nobody at Valve is going to work to make Proton work nicely with Origin .... except, now they will when it shows up on Steam. Looking forward to it.

(proton is amazing btw)

(Also hilarious is Valve's quiet "this is how you do exclusives" response.)

The bad guy in Inquisition main game was introduced in DA2's DLC "Legacy" and two of Inquisition's companions are from the second game: Varric and Cassandra (Varric is actually a companion in 2 as well, so he has more story).
Oh, and there's a cameo from Hawke in Inquisition.

Is it worth playing without 2? I don't know, but I guess so? A lot of people did.

Personally I found Inquisition to be the weakest Dragon Age game. The main story is boring, the gameplay is a lite-MMORPG with a terrible camera and it's full of fetch quests. The companions are good at least.

Dragon Age 2 has you exploring different iterations of the same cavern / dungeon / city street, but I didn't find it boring. It's possibly my favourite Dragon Age game.

Yeah, people shit on Dragon Age 2 all the time, but I find the game deserves a better reception. Origins is still my favorite Dragon Age though.
