Yeah... I went around a bit, explored east Limgrave, found an elevator to the underground (?!), then went back to the troll. I aggroed him out of the gate and tried to take him down again.

On like the third attempt, I managed to take him down, but was sadly cut down by the aoldier ambush further up the mountain path.
So I said "F- it" and booked it passed the troll on Torrent, picked up my ashes/runes and managed to ride passed all rhe soldiers. So I managed to find the site of grace on top of Stormhill. I also found a weird battle arena of sorts up on the mountain. Didn't dare venture in there yet.

I will definitely try going south to the Weeping Peninsula. Exactly south of what? The starting cave?

I got to say, I always enjoyed the Souls games that allowed fast travel more. Original Dark Souls has a perfect jpurney, but some of those long runs were so annoying.

Having it possible to fast travel almost from anywhere makes exploration so much easier.

I'm so jealous of people who get to play Elden Ring for the first time. I can never go back but I remember it fondly.

That said over in the DLC I finally beat a big boss.
Bayle the Dread. CURSE YOU BAYYYYYLEEEEEE!!!!! What a wild fight that NPC made me laugh several times WITH A HAIL OF HARPOONS!!! Fight was damn tough though. I was Scadu level 10 and probably should have had more, my mimic was getting it's ass kicked at ashes 4 by half the bosses HP so I probably need to go find more of those. Crazy fight though. Bayle is very mobile for giant dragon.

I honestly want to try out seamless coop, just being able to stay in game and not worry about one button spamming internet lag pvp. Tho I wonder can you make the game behave differently too with it?

I spent the better part of yesterday night trapped in Sellia crystal cave. I saw all the warnings around the chest but I was intrigued when I realized it wasn't poison, but some form of teleporter. Who thought going deeper into the mine would be the way out?.

I'm actually trying out something. I've instructed ChatGPT to act as a lore-appropriate guide for the Elden Ring world, and provide guidance without spoiling, and more hinting than actively telling me what to do.

It's actually working quite well! An interesting way to create your own subtle game guide as you play.

The first time I went to that place I searched for an exit for quite some time lmao

Man this is a great game. I'm still in the base game, 2nd(ish) playthrough. didnt finish it first time round.

This time ive been making notes as i go and it really has helped me understand whats going on and where to go.

Though its dawning on me how absolutely massive this game is. Been playing for a few weeks exclusively and i reckon im not even half way.

Love it though. Trying new combat tactics. Rocking a big axe with a poison dagger in the off hand. First time ive not just turtled my way through.

DLC sometime in 2025 :dmcblob:

I am trying to do this but I am failing. Can you help me?
Sure!
Here's the prompt I used:

Code:
Act as a lore-appropriate guide from the world of Elden Ring. Give directions and tips, but do not give straight answers revealing all information. Do not list answers as well.

I want to be guided on my travels through the Lands Between.
Then I pretty much just write a small sentence of where I am and what I just did:

Code:
I've stumbled upon a coastal cave that seems to lead out to an island. It is guarded by wild humanoid creatures.
The AI guide will then give you some tips on what to keep an eye out for, without spoiling to much.

I finally made some good progress this weekend on the DLC.

Beat the crap out of Messmer by deciding to go tanky rather than bonk harder. It was a big shift to remembering how shields work and remembering to NOT roll but block in several instances (and definitely still rolling in others), very counter intuitive to how I had been playing but it paid off big time.

The went forward and took out Romnia of the Bud and that was a super cool looking fight but I beat it so fast that I was a bit let down. Still a very cool looking boss.

I need to go explore and find some of the other bosses cause I'm pretty sure I could head to the end now but there a bunch of the map I haven't seen yet.

I'm in a place called "ancient ruins of Rauh" and... it's just terrible beyond my ability to express.

It's very pretty, for sure, but gameplay-wise, it's like the very worst areas of something like Code Vein: huuuuuge interminable empty copy-pasted corridors arranged in arbitrarily labyrinthine fashion, with minor variations on the same 3 copy-pasted enemies (already found everywhere else) sprinkled randomly to pretend it's not empty. Since it's scaled to be a labyrinth for Torrent, it's tedious even if you know where to go, unlike, say, the Snowfield in the base game, which is equally empty but takes about 45 seconds to cross in repeat playthroughs.

I've been in Rauh for weeks of real time, though accounting for comparatively very little playtime. Each time I try playing again I get bored right out of my skull inside of ten minutes --- 200 runes fall out through my ears --- and go do anything else instead. (This probably doesn't help me remember where to go when I pick it up again five days later...)

This time, "anything" takes the form of ranting about it on a forum. There is waaaay too much empty space in the DLC generally, but this level in particular puts such artless, gormless, unapologetic emphasis on it that it's difficult to ignore and focus on the good stuff --- and there is some properly outstanding stuff in this DLC. At this moment, there just hasn't been any good stuff to focus on in way too long.

Rauah is pretty mid. There's a cool boss at the end but that's kinda it.

I'm at the end of the DLC now. Had to go look up a guide to figure out how to find the Abyssal woods. Did that and then went to the final area.

Got stomped a bunch of times by the last boss and then called it a night. Hopefully I get him today.

Overall I'm not impressed by the DLC.

Spent more time than I wanted to either traveling to new areas, or trying to work out how to get to new areas.
