Just checked this, on that list, most are playable through steam or egs with the only one only on uplay/egs being Far Cry 3 blood dragon. In case of Subnautica, it's playable both via steam or EGS, but below zero add-on is only playable via Steam.

Just one tiny correction. I don't think there is money being offered here. I think EGS is embracing the opportunity to give people another motivation to buy from them instead of Steam.
For the rest: I had some respect for Tim left. That went down the gutter with that tweet. He is a blind, self-righteous asshole.
Yeah I'm not sure whats happening but even a hint of it is too much. Also how can EGS dictate a thing like that when on Steam its the dev that decides?
I have no idea if devs/pubs agree to run the game through EGS + Geforce Now, if that's something that EGS is actively convincing devs to do or if there is some kind of clausal in the contract that gives EGS the right to decide. Because the game is still being downloaded and bought through EGS and there shouldn't be a difference for the devs/pubs if the game is being run on a virtual machine or local PC.
The amount of games being on Steam and EGS that support GFN only on EGS is starting to become noticeable lately. That's all I can say.
I think the thing with Geforce Now might be a little overblown. This website seems to keep an updated list of games and which platforms/storefronts are supported for the games on Geforce Now:

Tried the Mortal Shell Open Beta. Devs have tried to copy so much from Souls, from gameplay to deisgn, to combat, to menus, but it doesn't feel really grat to play. I feel they took too much inspiration, in a way that my brain thinks Im playing a Dark Souls spin-off, just worse.

I just downloaded the GeForce Now client and even this list is not totally accurate. For example, it says that Satisfactory is supported only from EGS. The actual client lists both Steam and EGS.

That's not a super substantial investment, but I guess Sony decided to go with EGS as their future store of choice on PC, at least until they make their own launcher.
This is why I trust Valve. PC gaming is their whole business.
I wouldn't read too much into it. For all intents and purposes, they're investing in Fortnite/Unreal Engine and not the Epic Games Store.
They can still take up on an offer from Epic, but that's neither here or there in regards to their investment. They're not going to sell exclusively on a store no one uses for no reason other than having a 2% stake in said company.

They were better off buying another studio. They paid 225 million for Insomniac and they already made their money back off one Spider-Man game. And now Insomniac gonna make a ton of games for Sony in the future which will create an immense return on that 225 million.
Should of coughed up another half a billion and picked up Bungie or someone that big. Epic was a good investment 4-5 years ago not now imo.

I don't understand where people on Reddit and ERA automatically thing this got soemthing to do with EGS. Epic is big with Unreal which is used in both games and movies. This is not a Playstation investment (afaik) in Epic, this is Sony investing in Epic.
I guess that explains why Sweeney was so pumped up about the PS5
Sony learned that exclusive games sell consoles. I wouldn't be surprised if they start following this kind of logic in the PC space.
Skipping and ignoring EGS for a year is one thing. Ignoring God of War or TLOU when they won't show up outside of EGS ever is a different kind of story.
We'll see, but I'm pessimistic.

Sweeney baiting all the movie studios into investing into Epic, as soon as this pays off the first thing his gonna do is dump the EGS.
Sony investing in Epic doesn't mean shit. Epic is free to release games on Xbox with this deal, so I don't expect the investor is going to hamstring their PC experiment to a rinky-dink store that isn't moving the needle on game sales outside of insane couponing.

Yeah, but that's a closed ecosystem. Third party exclusives makes no sense in an open ecosystem where customers can jump to a new platform/client within seconds for free, so that investment is completely meaningless.
So while they may still take up on a deal from Epic at any point in the future, I don't see them going all in on EGS just because they have invested in Epic. That just wouldn't make any sense.
It's not that big of an investment and I think the result of this will be Epic favoring Playstation for UE development and Sony releasing games on EGS in addition to Steam. I don't really see this leading to more EGS exclusives with how small the investment is.
