The new Crysis Remastered Trailer avoids the EGS logo at the end. Just a generic old PC logo.
:toucan:
I'm starting to think that Saber is getting the moneyhat from Epic in exchange for doing the work on the remaster for the publishers, how many remakes Saber made that is EGS exclusive now?

I seriously don't know, but I wouldn't be surprised if Crytek took the deal.
They are not in the best financial situations afaik.

Saber is one of the arms of THQ Nordic. I think that THQ uses the Saber part to publish EGS exclusives since most people don't think of Saber as being part of THQ. That way they get the cash, and their image is still "clean" (well, as clean as it can be after the 8chan debacle)

If you add Rocket League to your library between September 23 and October 23 you will receive a $10 EGS coupon that is redeemable on games and add-ons $14.99 and up.
I wonder if this coupon will stack with the coupon from summer sales.

Limited-time Event. You will only receive an Epic Coupon for the MEGA Sale Event until June 11, 2020 at 11AM Eastern Time. All Epic Coupons received during the MEGA Sale Event will expire on November 1st, 2:59 AM Eastern Time.

[...]

You can only redeem one (1) Epic Coupon per transaction, and Epic Coupons will be automatically applied to your next eligible transaction. Epic Coupons cannot be combined. If you choose to return or cancel any of the games or add-ons you purchase in order to earn or redeem the coupon, your refund will equal the amount you actually paid for the game(s) or add-on(s) (subject to applicable refund policies). The Epic Coupon used during the original transaction will not be returned.

nah , they did it way before they were part of Embracer group , they are ultimately completelyquite separate within the group , kinda like Deep Silver

Do you think THPS 1 + 2 will come to Steam when/if the exclusivity period ends?

Watched a video about Crysis Remastered from pcgameshardware.de

The PC version is still running DX11 and runs into the same old, single thread CPU bottlenecks (their RTX 3080 was just at 50% load at 4k).
Hardware RT support and DLSS are both missing.
A Vulkan patch is promised.

Thank you EGS, another pile of garbage avoided.

I'm telling you, EGS signing an exclusive in this day and age is the troubled game klaxon.
Publishers are taking deals to circumvent the need to release proper games or PC versions. It's awe full. Wonder why the gaming press isn't reporting on that.

Crysis Remastered on PC launches in a state that is worse than the console versions.
The old Xbox X CPU is able to run the game at thirty fps, pretty much locked while a significantly more powerful, modern desktop PC CPU struggles to push slightly above thirty fps. The console version must have some kind of effective multi threading. PC? Nope, absolutely single thread limited.

Promised features won't be there. No DLSS, no Vulkan, no hardware RT support.

"We branched off the PC versions two months ago and we have been working hard to optimize it."
~ Liars.

Fucking Epic covering their asses with money! So feed up with this shit.
And stupid Linus released a video playing the game on his 4k OLED and being wowed by 35 fps at 4k. Show why the game is only hitting 30 fps at 4k you amateur.

As expected: Probably still compiling. But who needs standards when you have Epic pay checks.

Wait, seriously?

Running on a 3900X (4.4GHz oc)
RTX 3080
Game is running DX11
No DLSS
No hardware Ray Tracing support
No Vulkan

Heavy CPU limited, even at 4k (no RT here)
One CPU core is sitting at 89%
Gpu is sitting at 54% load.

This version of the game is a couple days old, so there is a slim chance it will release with Vulkan support. But why did they bother to give the dx11 version to a mayor PC hardware outlet than. Did they expect them to make a nostalgic video and show of some nice vistas?

Looking at the Linus Tech Tips Video: Yeah that's exactly what they expected.

That is truly embarrassing.

Top seller list has been updated.
it only took 9 weeks, not bad. (also lol at the results, that must be hand-made for sure as they don't really make any sense since a customer behavior perspective)

Unknown, their social media won't answer anything and their mail support is.... non-existent.

That's the first time in 2 months. Interesting how most of the top sellers aren't EGS exclusive. Not sure what this means. Is this because of the coupons or better regional pricing in certain regions? Or is Epic actually building a fanbase? Or perhaps their latest exclusives are selling like crap. Who knows...

I don't know if they're different per region, but the EGS top selling list are largely games that have list-price discounts other than THPS 1 & 2. And with the £10 coupon, some of those games (at least in the UK) are actually very cheap.

Prices of top sellers (with coupons if list price is above £13.99):

THPS 1 & 2: £29.99
Red Dead Redemption 2: £26.84
The Outer Worlds: £14.99
Borderlands 3: £14.99
GTA V: £12.49 (coupon not eligible)
Rogue Company: £14.99
Control: £14.99
Death Stranding: £31.24
Civ VI: £12.49 (coupon not eligible)
Assassin's Creed Odyssey: £4.99
Remnant: From the ashes: £21.99
SnowRunner: £24.99
WWZ GOTY: £7.99
Rainbow Six Siege £6.79 (coupon not eligible)
Kingdoms of Amalur Re-Reckoning: £21.49
Mortal Shell: £14.99
The Division 2: £8.57 (coupon not eligible)

Even if the game is on Steam, some of those prices are excellent. Possibly worth using the EGS over for some people. And while most people on this board hate Epic with a passion, there are a lot of people who don't use EGS for exclusives at full price, but may be drawn in with a big discount. Might explain why there's a lot of non-exclusives on the list.

It's hand-made as far as we know so yeah, take those with a grain of salt.

Im suprised how little interest I have in the Remastered version on PC and EGS doesn't help much either.

I say that as a BIG fan of Crysis series. Not only did I put hundreds of into Crysis Wars, finished Crysis and Warhead both at least 5 times (just fucking loved the games), while 2 and 3 ended up as big dissapointment, Crysis has a special place in my life. It was also the first game I ever bought with my own money.

I mean just watching this random video from the sandbox editor that I had so much fun with gives me a wave of nostalgia and happiness:

Yet I have no interest in the Remastered version right now.

That is actually pointing to a trend I noticed with the HZD debacle. Nobody really bothered checking performance for the average user. [edit : but DF, I forgot to mention it. That was kind of my point]

I don't want to go too far down that rabbit hole but the least we can say is that reviewers might be dropping the ball and failing at their basic job there, telling us how well we can expect the game to run. Needless to say, I'm disappointed that Linus didn't pick up on this, but at the same time he wasn't really looking at it in a reviewing capacity.

Here's hoping DF does a proper job and judging by Alex's twitter, it's looking to be over 23+ minutes long.

On a personal level, while I adore CryEngine and its "real-time, all of the time" approach as well as the massive push they achieved in 2007... With Yerli's greedy try at CIG's backer money, I'm a little over Crytek lately. It appears to have become an exploitative hellhole in the last decade.

Also, it appears Epic is getting investigated because Tencent, which is to be honest both a good and bad thing. A probe is nice, but a political probe is going to make everything worse no matter the outcome.

The motives behind the Trump admin doing this are clearly racist, pandering to the base. I'm loathe to cheer on his anti-China stuff as it just normalises racism against Chinese people rather than actually taking any meaningful action against the pro-censorship Chinese government and how it is trying to encroach on our media as a means of silencing criticism of it. Let's be honest, Trump and the GOP would be just as cruel as the CCP is if they could get away with it.

But there definitely needs to be some oversight into what Tencent is doing. They're bankrolled by the Chinese government, allowed to run monopolies domestically, and are now encroaching into influential Western media companies. It's really creepy and frankly, they need to be stopped. I just don't think the Trump admin is going to be the one to do it - what's more likely to happen is they will force Tencent to sell to some handpicked Trump lackeys, as was the case with TikTok and how operational control for that went to Oracle, whose CEO is a Trump arse licker.

Likewise. I'm not okay with it being motivated out of racism. However Tencent is as shady as it gets and the PRC government is the stuff of nightmares. I recall reading really terrifying stuff about Tencent's domestic actions and decisions and the more I learn, the less I want them anywhere near the gaming industry.

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong, I won't cry if Tencent is booted out of the US by the Trump admin. But we all know they will be forced to sell to another Trumper and then the pendulum just swings to a different set of bad guys.

2 differences:

  • Free games are what Epic are known for these days and they are in your face when you go to the website in opposite to Steam where you have to know in advance what is free and then find the game in the store yourself
  • Free forever will also make people try them more than free for a limited time

Deep Rock Galactic got a huge boost in sales due to its free weekend. On steam, co-op games have a higher chance of being played more than SP centric games.
