Let's start this thread off the way any good FG thread is started off. A list of fighters that are available to y'all.

There's a bunch of others, but that's what my curator is for.

----------------------------------

There are also community effort to provide online play for fighters, bring back ones that were brought down, or add better netcode:

FightCade: online retro arcade gaming platform for netplay
GGPO successor

Game Streaming - Play Games With Friends | Parsec
basically streaming to a friend

dead, but brought back by the community

Melty Blood but with rollback netcode

SUPPORT THE DEVS BY BUYING THE GAMES THAT ARE AVAILABLE

----------------------------------

For streams there are a bunch on twitch. You have the usual suspects.

Teamsp00ky
nycfurby
joniosan

So talk about fighters, ask questions, post news for games, etc. Leave feedback on the thread, too.

BBCF is $10 y'all have NO EXCUSE

Edit: wait a minute you put XX+R in the op over UNIST?

At any rate, here's a question to start the thread off with - do you guys go to FGC locals? I've been going to mine for the last 2 months, mostly for BBCF and UNIST. Probably gonna play MK11 a bit once it launches.

I've been going to my locals for nearly a decade.

Btw if you wanna play UNIST I'm not a god but I'm p high level and mostly play on PC/offline. HMU if you wanna play.

I'll remember that!

...on another note that the PC version of SamSho is so delayed. I'm going to have to get it on PS4 and then double-dip later. Damnit!

Maybe put Skullgirls in your list :)

I can't wait for new SamSho. Wish I could recommend the retro SNK stuff on Steam but the quality is so inconsistent, some feel almost like ports (Like KOF 98 & 2002) while others are so bare bones or bad in terms of emulation and options (like the legendary Garou ffs). SNK (and Capcom) need to get a central platform going like SEGA did for their Genesis stuff (but better) and slowly put everything on there with the same great quality and filter options and what not for all of them, maybe even let you switch between console and arcade mode and/or enhance the translations (but don't fix VICTOLY, hahaha).

Last Blade 2 is by a different port team than Garou is, and is Top Tier 2D fighter.

Capcom look to be toying with the idea of bespoke hardware bundled with games, rather than a pure software delivery method.

Yes, Last Blade 2 is by the guys that did KoF 98/2002 I mentioned. Also 97 but I haven't tried that. And some Atari collection. They don't all show under one developer page/search because they switch between Code Mystics and Code Mystics Inc. or something like that for whatever reason. Possibly more.

It's not that long ago Capcom did the beat 'em up and SF collections to think that just because they're coming out with a particularly niche $200+ device.

SNK has come out with hardware too and is planning more was said recently (which won't take the form of their last mini) but still releases or licenses games.

Similarly for SEGA which has been planning the Genesis mini but has continued the Sega Ages line (not on all platforms sadly).

Some of these games don't have enough players to find random online matches. Maybe link the games discord groups if anyone wanna find someone to play with?

Nice to see this thread! Been running FG locals and smaller regional events for a decade+ now and always happy to see new venues for talking fighting games.

I'm definitely looking forward to MK11. Been the first 2D fighter I've been interested in playing for a while. I'll still play SF4 but most of the new stuff hasn't really appealed to me enough to make me want to dedicate real time to them. Tekken 7 has been great though, really an awesome return to form for the series.

Not sure if I'll jump in right away on MK11 PC just because of the history of those games on the platform but at the least I'll be on PS4.

Requested fighters added and twitch links turned into just channel names because... c'mon, we all know they're on twitch.

I don't know the official discord groups for each game. Hook me up?

These are the three I sorta know about. Dunno about the rest, but just typing any game + discord will give you a link.
Anyone else getting MK11 at launch?
I'll probably wait for the complete edition, considering the BS with DLC characters and the apparent grind to unlock extra stuff in single player.

Thanks for the links, I just want to avoid any drama that comes with deeming someone's discord an official one. I'm into DBFZ and it has two different discords for whatever reason. So I figure I'll let you guys decide what's what; majority opinion and all.

I am; already have it redeemed on my account.

I kinda want to get back into SCVI, but I'm waiting on a sale on the season pass to do so. Did they fix ranked yet?

They said they won't be taking out CaS in Ranked because the wait times between matches would be longer. Yes, that was their excuse, smh.

They don't need to take out CaS from ranked, just normalize their hitboxes to the respective style

I have UNIST on both PS4/PC, and I'm gonna buy it again on Vita - but French Bread is a small indie dev. NRS are huge, one of the biggest developers in fighting games. It's not like they need your support so bad that you have to triple-dip.

Dbfz is the best fighting game on steam rn imo, tekken 7 is a close second. Even bought both season passes for dbfz

Yeah I suppose if you're going to be bringing setups for locals you might want to double-dip on PS4, but I do think going for Switch is a bit of a stretch. Maybe if you know you're going to bring your Switch to conventions or something?

Great thread and OP.

I have installed SFV on Steam again. I play different chars so if you want to spar feel free to send a friend request ;)

It has been some days since I last posted, it's great to see so many new people in here :D

Not at launch, maybe in a month or two :/
I'm blessed by family share, so basically, yeah.
I'm actually double dipping on PS4 and PC. Definitely excited for it.
Yep, I'll probably regret it, but I got the premium edition. :suicide-blob:
I'm insane and have pre-purchased MK11 on three platforms- PS4, PC, and Switch. With all the grinding that's supposedly there I'll probably never end up getting anywhere. o_O

Awesome to hear. It'd be cool if we had some manner of organized fight nights. I would loooove to learn from y'all and compete; it's practically all I played in my childhood, with the spare FPS (Doom/Wolf) thrown in!

I tried replaying Guilty Gear Isuka yesterday but I was unable to beat tag opponents.

That's good to hear :). I'm hoping it's actually decent. I really didn't like MKX that much. From both the betas I played for MK11 it seemed pretty fun.

I'm saying it in a bad way. This game needed more time in the oven, so people should keep their expectations in check a bit. Could be that something's up with the early copies but I have doubt. I hope they can fix some of the jank via patch at least, some of it def seems fixable that way.

Edit: I'm not trying to be a downer, people here are still enjoying it so far. It just feels undercooked compared to their last couple MK games.

If you can extract any of the game ROMs from SNK's releases on Steam, smack them into Fightcade and play them through that.

Have a weekly dose of time spenders

Was there ever a mod or such released to unshadow portriats in the character select screen of UMvC3?

3+ Hours of Street Fighter III 3S

Vampire Hunter/Darkstalkers' Revenge matches

1 Hour of Super Street Fighter II Turbo

King of Fighters 2002 UM matches

Last Blade 2 matches

3+ Hours of Virtua Fighter 3

6+ Hours of Melty Blood

14 hours til MK11, can't wait! Probably won't be able to play tonight since I have work tomorrow morning but my plan once I can is grind to unlock Frost and then play training and online with Skarlet. Got a local grind session Wednesday and then an out of town tournament on Saturday so most of the single player bits will have to wait til after that.

I'm an idiot; how did I neglect to mention fightcade and stuff like the revived rising thunder? I'll work on the OP more when I'm at my PC.

I played some T7 with a friend recently+some SF 30th anniversary online with a buddy as well.

Any fighting game can be played casually, always remember that.

I still play MvC:I sometimes and the Jojo's game on fightcade. A game isn't dead if I can still find someone to play it with. Hell, there's still a community for SFxT.
