It's a restaurant sim mixed with some kind of adventure game about magical girls in a small animal community (cats primarily). I't snot exactly waifu material, but I'm sure some here would enjoy the cuddly, feminist sim.
I was thinking of backing this for my fiance as she loves restaurant sims and cats.

Maybe this thread is more appropriate :p

Since I was talking lightgun games on the VR thread I found this project which looks promising for non-VR lightguns.

It's essentially very similar to the concept of the existing Wii-style lightguns like AimTrak that use infrared lights attached to the TV and require similar calibration methods and playing behaviour but instead of needing those extra infrared light emitters it comes bundled with software that adds a thin(ish) border around the screen/playing area and uses that border to more accurately calibrate where you're aiming by itself regardless of your positioning. Theoretically you could get more accurate Wii-style setups with more emitters (practically too, later post-Naomi arcade lightgun games by SEGA used such a system with tons of emitters around the arcade screen iirc) but then, that's the problem I guess, that you need more sensors, where with this setup you only need the gun.

We'll see how it is in practice but it's a pretty promising project (at least for real lightgun games and also anything that uses mouse lightgun emulation from the looks of it, and he's got support for raspberry pi as well). It was recently fully funded, we'll see if anything comes out of it. The first support tier that actually gets a gun was pretty expensive at $80 though so I imagine if it ever gets to retail it will be even more so. But, perhaps there will be less fancy versions (like without the pump action reload) that cost less. But even the AimTrak guns are super expensive or I'd have one myself so, yeah, it seems competitive for this niche.

I thought i'd kickstarted more than i have! I've had no problem so far with any of my backed projects so i guess i've been lucky. I'd have no qualms about backing another project but i'm not going to back anything that doesn't explicitly promise a key for Steam or a DRM free release. I'm not backing a project so EGS can steal it away from me at the last minute. I think this is having the biggest chilling effect on kickstarter amongst my friends, thanks EGS, for nothing.

Backed and delivered: Tides of Numenera, Deadly Premonition Board Game, ACE Bike lights and Exploding Kittens.

My current backed projects are:
The Good Life - White Owls (SWERY's Studio)
Nighthawks Vampire RPG - Dave Gilbert (Wadjet Eye)

SWERY and Wadjet Eye are two teams i just cannot support enough.

Got the '48 Hour Left' alert for Prodeus and noticed they were giving you a PC and a console code for the one price so fuck it - I'm in.
Made me check the Kickstarter and I got the very last Early Bird Pledge at $15. I'll just give away my console code, probably.

And did the cheap copy of Subverse since it says it'll be discounted from the regular price upon release. Might as well ride this train.

Allow me to post a non-gaming kickstarter campaign for once:

Indie director Larry Blamire has a 7 day crowdfunding campaign to finance the first ever Blu-Ray release of one of his films, Lost Skeleton Returns Again:

If you are unfamiliar with his works (pastiches of 50's/60's sci-fi, noir, and monster films, often featuring veteran character actors like Kevin McCarthy, Dick Miller, and James Karen, among others), you really should check them out, they are a lot of fun.

A few examples:

I'll gladly back it if they say it'll be released on Steam. Keep us posted please.
I've just now had an answer from them:
As of now, things are leaning in the direction of Steam and our own website for a DRM-free download.
Descend will most likely be on various services, I understand that many of our fans have favorite platforms and we don't want marketing to get in the way of that.

That's a bit of a stretch. I don't see fear and violence towards women being normalized in this, as misogynistic as it may be.
I consider hypersexualization a form of exploitation, which is also a form of violence that manifests in different ways.

Agony might be analogous to perpetrators of domestic violence and sexual assault. I see games like these radicalizing more incels and the like.

Play as Johann, a disenchanted young man feeling the weight and responsibilities of his life slowly breaking his spirit. His work is crushing, his dreams are fading and he realizes that adulthood isn't really what he was hoping for. But when he gains the ability to enter the Kid World and fight his problems as his childhood self, he might just find a way to make life worth exploring again!

I can't disagree with you about this. It definitely is that, among various other problematic things. It's not really a positive, but at least Subverse isn't trying to in any way hide the hypersexualization or couch it in gaming jargon to make it better/seem like it's something it's not

Last chance to back it gabbo and FunktionJCB
2 more hours. I am not going to remind you anymore as I am going to sleep now :D
Thanks for the heads-up.
I just arrived home, and I ended up backing it (peer pressure! :surrenderblob:).

Speaking of NSFW games, when I backed it, this game came up:

It's a sequel to the game Lust for Darkness.

Backers of that campaign are supposed to get a Steam key for a demo with an exclusive short side story, that apparently won't be a part of the final game.

Lovecraft's Fear of the Other as filtered through Geiger's fascination with and/or fear of genitals/flesh melding with machine. I might have an easier time backing this - will keep an eye on it

This one looks nice, and a few (limited) early copies cost just €4

There's a demo available.

fig.co campaign for Vagrus - The Riven Realms launched a few hours ago and it really looks great, it also offers immediate access to the alpha to all backers.

Too bad for this:

I was very interested but I think I'll wait for the full release just to make sure.
Sounds like they are welcoming an exclusivity deal to survive.
When you are in game industry you you have to take risks. Maybe take a loan to survive, not take exclusivity deals.

It sounds more like 'if' rather than 'when', and depending on how well this fig campaign does, it might lean more to one side than the other. And they're at least up front about it at the get go and not going to Julian Gallop the whole thing later.

Looks like they licensed their tech to the Polymega dudes for a lightgun available for the system. The concept is hot.

No idea what polymega is and if it's an iffy project or anything but what I'm seeing looks cool (and expensive for some good modules and controllers I guess).
