Pretty much this. If you have to use something that is in AUR use something like Chaotic AUR. They seem to have security a bit more up to snuff. Still the whole situation is being handled pretty poorly.

I think the AUR model has overall proven to be quite dangerous.

It definitely needs a rethink.

I haven't seen comments about it here, so just in case somebody stumbles upon it and is curious: Don't use Omarchy, it's not really a distro, it's sucking up tens of millions of dollars that could be given to projects that put an actual effort into improving people's lives, like Debian, Archlinux, KDE, Gnome or many others. And most importantly, it's an outright fascist movement, with a fascist manifesto, and of course, a rich, fascist creator.
