Darwin's Paradox!

With his extraordinary intelligence and incredible abilities – swimming, camouflage, and many other fascinating skills – help him overcome the most formidable traps and dangers in this captivating platformer, adventure, and puzzle game.

In the peaceful vastness of the ocean, Darwin, a young octopus, explores the deep sea… until a strange beam of light pierces the abyss and pulls him toward the surface. Thrust out of his aquatic world, he wakes up disoriented in the middle of a gigantic junkyard, backed by a foreboding factory.

But something is wrong. Between the threatening machines, strange holding tanks, and the mysterious and dangerous creatures and characters that inhabit the place, Darwin realizes he is in danger. To return to the ocean, Darwin will have to outsmart, evolve, and reveal to the players through his journey the mysteries of a conspiracy that goes beyond anything one could have imagined… and which could very well seal the fate of humanity!

Road to Vostok

Your road begins in Area 05, an evacuated zone located in the southeastern part of Finland. In Area 05, you will find shelters, traders, tasks, and starting loot for initial survival. Your peaceful life in Area 05 is often interrupted by hostile Bandits, an anarchist group taking advantage of the lack of authority in the area.

Once you have gathered enough loot and equipment, your road continues toward the east, where you will find the Border Zone, a guarded border line between Finland and Russia. Each Border Zone map has a crossing point with different challenges. Some crossing points may include mines or physical obstacles, while others require using waterways with boats. On top of these challenges, the Border Zone is guarded by a group called Guards. These foreign border guards are armed, corrupt, and often rely on air support to prevent people from crossing the border.

If you manage to cross the Border Zone, you will enter Vostok. Located in Russia, Vostok is a high-risk, high-reward zone and holds the most valuable loot in the game. Every Vostok map is a permadeath map. If you die in Area 05 or Border Zone, you only lose the equipment and loot you're carrying, but if you die in Vostok, you lose everything. Vostok is controlled by the Military, an armed troop with heavy weaponry and the ability to use armored vehicles. The Military faction is the most dangerous faction in the game, and they have one objective: to push you back where you came from.

Time of Day: The game uses a 24-hour day & night simulation where lighting conditions change dynamically with sun and moon cycles. You can manipulate game time by sleeping, but most of the time, you will need to prepare for darkness when roaming through the game world. Weather: The game has randomized weather states that vary from sunny to dark skies with thunder and everything in between. If you are lucky, you may even see northern lights on a clear night sky. Seasons: If you survive long enough, the game world will shift from summer to winter, and you will start facing issues related to snow and cold. You can also choose constant summer or winter modes for your playthrough. Events: On top of the changing lighting conditions and weather, dynamic events occur every now and then in the game world. These events vary from small ambient sounds to aerial events, like airdrops and crash sites, to faction-based special events.

Samson

Samson comes home to the worst streets of Tyndalston, a place that built him hard and never forgave him. Muscle, speed, and nerve decide who stays upright. He learned violence before he learned mercy, and the city hasn’t forgotten. Every clash matters. Every hit is meant to break or be broken. You cut through alleys, rooftops, and backroom dens designed to keep you moving, not sightseeing. Tyndalston shapes how you fight, climb, corner, and vanish. It’s familiar ground, but never safe ground.

Cars are not set dressing. They’re blunt instruments. You rip through the outskirts and industrial wastelands in battered machines held together with scrap and stubbornness. Ram, drift, smash, or outthink whoever chases you. Nothing here is clean. Samson’s debt hangs over everything, and his sister is the pressure point his enemies squeeze. Time is short, and the bill keeps growing. This is a focused, brutal chapter in his story, built with intent, no excess, no padding. He didn’t return to entertain. He returned because this is the only place where he can fight his way out.

Your debt grows by the hour, and the people holding it squeeze harder every day. Every job, every dollar, every choice cuts a path forward or shuts it down. No do-overs. No safety net.

Story That Hits Back: Uncover what broke Samson’s family and what it takes to fix it before time runs out.

The Occultist

You play as Alan Rebels, a paranormal investigator who travels to an abandoned British island after his father's disappearance. Explore Godstone island, face supernatural entities, and uncover long-buried occult rituals.

In The Occultist, paranormal investigator Alan Rebels travels to the mysterious island of Godstone to determine the cause of the sudden disappearance of his father. Even though he mentioned the island repeatedly over the decades, all that Alan really knows is that his father was born and spent his early years there. However, Alan does not travel alone. He carries with him his mystical pendulum, an object of unknown origin that accompanied him on all his past paranormal investigations. As he explores the foggy streets and maddening buildings, apparently being the only things that remain on the mysterious island of Godstone, it becomes clear: This will be a case unlike any other.

Godstone was inhabited until 1950 by an infamous, macabre cult that performed disturbing experiments and cruel rituals. No one has ever set foot on the island since - until today. Using his paranormal talents, Alan must interact with the ominous souls that seem to remain in the foreboding streets and buildings left on Godstone; or avoid them at all cost, should they be wrathful. Being a paranormal investigator, none of this is new to Alan Rebels. The mysterious Godstone however and his search for answers to his father’s disappearance put Alan’s skills to the test. More than any investigation before, Godstone shakes Alan’s convictions of what is possible in the world of the occult. Maybe Godstone hides a curse that can be lifted… but should it be?

New Beta For Steam Workshop Browsing
Making it easier to browse, filter, and learn about the best Workshop items for your game
Today we've updated the Steam Workshop to make the browsing experience quicker and easier to use. The new user interface is available as an opt-in beta, which you can enable by clicking on the "Enter Workshop Beta" on any Workshop browse page (the pages with grids of items to explore).

What's new

This update is geared around making the browsing and filtering experience faster and easier to use.

  • Wider page & bigger items - This update makes the browsing page wider, allowing for more items and bigger preview images of each item.
  • Faster filtering - We've completely rewritten the page, making it update more quickly when applying filters or changing sort orders.
  • Smarter filtering per-section - Filters can now be configured by game developers to apply (and appear) for certain types of items. For Workshops that contain both Maps and Items, developers can define which types each filter should apply to.
  • New Quick View - Click the little magnifying glass icon in the corner of each item to enter a quick view mode. Explore some screenshots, click to favorite, subscribe, or vote, all without leaving the browsing experience.
  • Mobile and Steam Deck friendly - This new rewrite of the page allows us to better manage the responsiveness of the page for different contexts such as mobile, Steam Deck, and Big Picture mode.

Workshop: Used by over 3,000 games and Millions of users

The Steam Workshop remains a heavily used part of the Steam Community: to date, there are over 3,000 games with Workshop enabled with a combined total of over 50 million items uploaded. Millions of players regularly subscribe to and vote on items. While we've added features and updated the Workshop over the years, we felt it was time to make some bigger improvements to the overall user experience. Through that lens, the Browse page was at the top of the list. Millions of users browse the Steam Workshop every month, and there are dozens of ways to interact with the user interface while doing it. Unfortunately, most interactions with the page required a full page reload, which significantly slowed down the browsing process.

I've never played an Assassin's Creed and I don't really feel any need to. :shrugblob:

Black Flag was the last AC I enjoyed. I couldn't get into Unity for some reason, and when the series turned into casual RPG's with AC Origins, the huge but empty open world and the absurd amount of repetitive bloat became too much for me.

Ubisoft giving a Steam key? Hell has frozen over.
They put Assassin creed games on humble to sell DLC and Valhalla has like 5 expansions with it having been on Ubisofts store forever put relatively new on steam it actually makes more sense since it's just the standard version

I mean.. uhh...
I'd be all over it if I didn't have the super mega uber delux-o edition on ubislops launcher (I got the standard edition for free from my brother when he upgraded forever ago then bought the expansions for super cheap when on sale)

Every time I told myself I should hold out and try and get a AC game on steam i somehow get it for free on ubisoft, so I have like half my collection on Steam and half on UPLAY and it really annoys me.

I was researching on PC hardware for a potential upgrade and the prices boggled my mind - seriously, how people are able to stomach them?

I get it. It's a rhetoric question. But the cost of a mid to top level rig equals to 2-3 great trips to some neighboring countries.

And don't even mention a 5090. If I bought one of those, I wouldn't dare to upgrade until it breaks. :face-with-open-mouth-and-cold-sweat:

Played a couple hours of Death Stranding 2 on Deck.

Got it running at 30-40fps with some PICO/Perfomance setting along with some FGN. Haven't tried yet but you can get it even higher with lossless scaling.

The game does chug a bit when its raining but its still more than acceptable. You can smooth things up even more if you play offline. But yea its very playable and looks great.

Its only getting like 90-100 minutes of battery tho but hey that is still plenty of time to make a bunch of deliveries.

Kind of incredible playing this on a device that is 4+ years old now. I haven't played Crimson Desert or RE9 yet but from what I looked up both are very playable on Deck too. That is basically 3 of the big releases this year so far all playable. What a beast of a device..
For certain games I feel it's even better if you use Moonlight. I play Borderlands 4, Roadcraft and Death Stranding 2 this way, and it's awesome. Assuming you've a good connection, of course!

Have you tried it?

Also, you can play for 30 minutes and it eats about 5% of your battery.

Yeah I suspect anyone with a 5090 to be secretly rich, looking at you all 5090 owners here!

Honestly building a gaming pc just for gaming seems crazy, I tried to justify it since it will mostly used for gamedev.

The one AC game I want to give a try at some point (not at all urgently, otherwise I'd just have bought it) is Odyssey.
I'm a bit annoyed that they decided to be much more "generous" and put a newer one in the bundle :P
Every time I think I wouldn't mind trying one of the new ACs, I realize they're 100-200 hour+ games now. The RPGs I play already take up most of my time.

Small rant time;

The Gothic 1 remake is coming out soon and pre-orders have started. Gothic 1 is a good game, and hopefully this remake will be faithful to the original idea of the game and does well commercially. But it's an undeniable fact that Gothic 2 is a better and far more popular game.

And so my question is, why don't these companies pick the more popular/good game to remake if they do decide to invest so much money and time on a project?

Because the situation right now is that everyone who is interested enough in Gothic really wants a remake of Gothic 2 but that can only happen if this first remake sells well. If it doesn't then the publisher will conclude that there isn't enough interest in the IP to continue investing money to remake the second game. If they had made Gothic 2 first I believe they would have made much more money and then they could have considered going back and remaking the first game. After 25 years I don't think there are that many people who would want the remakes to come out in the correct order. But now there is a very real chance that Gothic 2 will never get made. If even the Gothic 2 remake hadn't sold well enough to justify remaking the first one then at least we'd have a remake of the better game with us.

The same thing happened with Dead Space. It's a good game but Dead Space 2 was much better, but it'll never get made because the Dead Space remake flopped. I feel like there are some other instances of this happening as well but I can't remember them.

Anyway I'll be buying Gothic and hoping they make a second one but the way money is tightening up in the economy right now, I'm not holding my breath for it to happen.

Yeah to a developer it's more of an investment. Personally I only use PC for games (and office) so I'm quite bothered by the pricing. Just absurd. My PC was a top tier one back in 2017, and I spent $1900 on it (including a Win 10 license). Now 1900 bucks can get me... maybe a build with a 5070? Geez.

I'm not considering a full build anyway. Now I'm just looking at some used, older GPUs for a simpler upgrade.

I am back on CachyOS, as it happens every blue moon. I will now launch Rimworld that I just started yesterday, so no big risk.
If Steam shits the bed and overwrites my cloud save, again, I will shit swarms of Locusts on Valve. You have been warned, Gabe.

Why do I have to select the compatibility layer for each game when there is a global option that should do that but doesn't ? Has been haunting me for months.

The Rimworld issues might have to do with the game having a native Linux port, and the stuff that's set up to try and keep saves synced between the different file paths on Windows and Linux being borked. You could always try running the Windows version through Proton? Maybe back up your saves too, they should be in ~/.config/unity3d/Ludeon Studios/RimWorld by Ludeon Studios/ if you're running the native port.

As for that issue with the compatibility layer not being set, I think it's because games can set what compatibility tool they use by default, and that global option is for games which don't set that. Some games that have a Deck Verified rating will default to whatever Proton version was current when they got that rating, and games with native Linux ports will usually default to those.

Oof, the steam impressions seems to be what I feared, a bigger game that lost most of its staff and to try and salvage what was done they made a smaller game and put it out there. Key points I gleamed was that it is repetitive and buggy.

I wasn’t that clear, I lost several saves when I tried linux, for Tower of Babel and Ufo 50. And I’m still not over it. Couldn’t give a fuck about those games but this is something that shouldn’t happen. A game on steam shouldn’t have the ability to erase an existing cloud save without asking the user.

And I kinda understand the compatibility layer thing but it seems dumb as fuck to me. I specify I want to use Proton as compatibility, steam uses Proton. Fuck native ports. I want to use Proton.
Having an option that only applies to game that don’t have native version is confusing to idiot me who don’t want to look into the existence or not of a native port.
Want to use Proton, select Proton as layer, Steam ultimately doesn’t uses proton. What ?

Very good deal on all old Sherlock Holmes games

Well, anyway, I tried Rimworld for the first time. The UI is awful and the learning curve is demented, I have still not even scratched the surface of the game.
But it's maybe what I looked for. I can certainly loses days on it and there are magical nonsense moment like when I built a fence and one of my colon just filled it with random animals. Like bruh, stop. You need help.

I guess if things follows along I will have to buy Dwarf Fortress and stop even trying to live in society :shlooter:
Not like I tried very much, it's going to be a huge problem soon, but I digress.

Hades 2 is a curious case for me, the game is fantastic and it oozes quality, but it is still very much like the first Hades, which I played so hard I got burnt out by it, which has made it difficulty to play Hades 2.
