Tyler McVicker… hmm.
I don’t want to say he’s wrong, because he does get some stuff right, but yeah.
And if it’s how he’s described it, I’m not interested. Does Valve seriously need another multiplayer game?
I assume there is a team at Valve working on an Alyx sequel, alongside the VR headset team who are developing a follow-up to the Index. But of course, who knows when that could be done. And likely of little to no interest to people who don't care about VR (though given how there is a mode that makes Alyx fully playable on non-VR machines, the same will surely materialise for again).
This multiplayer game sounds like the parts of Valve who worked on TF2 wanting a new type of game. It's been over a decade that Valve made a new big multiplayer game, not counting CS2 here which feels more like a relatively conservative update to an existing game. Neon Prime, going by the description, sounds like something completely different for Valve. Sure, it's multiplayer, but base building and large open world type stuff doesn't sound like anything they have done before.
