Hidden in Plain Sight

Hidden in Plain Sight is a set of local multiplayer (2-4 players) game modes that share a common theme: trying to accomplish goals without drawing attention to yourself. In each game mode, players control characters in a sea of identical NPCs. Players are given a task, but also the means to eliminate each other from the game. The goal is to blend in with the NPCs, accomplish the task at hand, and take out other players before they get you. One of the simplest game modes is called "Death Race." Players and NPCs are racing to be the first to cross a finish line. Each player has a gun with one bullet, and can eliminate one person from the race. Do you sprint ahead, calling attention to yourself but maximizing you chances of winning? Or do you hang back with the pack? Other game modes create similar tension by putting players in a conflicted position of wanting to accomplish a goal, but risking elimination by doing so. Rounds are quick and lively, and always end in laughter and friendly shouting. So grab your controllers and friends and give it a shot!

Good thing I'm not a big KH fan, because I'd be seething if I had to wait 4 years just to know on what platforms KH4 is launching and nothing else LMAO

It was harrowing to watch SGF.

Maybe it was the mix of cynicism around current industry output + over reliance on remaster, remakes + abysmally high Regional Prices killing excitement + my hardware not even close to min specs anymore + burnt out due to being terminally online.

I really felt numb, despite some genuinely exciting announcements.

Doesn't help reading stupid opinions of "gamers"

Meme aside, I think you might need a break. Forget everything. Go out a day or two. Just walk. Eat something you like. Don't read the Internet.

It helps a lot.

I finished Mina the Hollower. It was fun and made me want to go back and play the Game Boy Zelda games. I thought I had screwed up and got a bad ending, but there's only one "real" ending with the other one being a joke if you play a very specific way and have foresight as to what to do.

This is good advice. If being perpetually online is starting to have a toll on you, just take a break, disconnect and do other things for a while. Sometimes we forget that removing ourselves from online toxicity can be as easy as putting away our phone or laptop away for a bit.

Hey guys! given that the Steam Summer Sale is coming up, does anybody know of a mod or a plugin I can use to make the Steam discounts page go back to the "old" list view?

Basically, instead of looking like this (a view I hate with every fiber of my being)
I want it to look like this instead (taken from the "Upcoming Games" tab):
(and yes, I know this is mobile view, I'm looking to get this on desktop lol)

Its been very frustrating dealing with this, and the latest Steam front page update made it even worse... any tips you guys would know of would be appreciated!

I'm getting close to the end now too. 5/6 towers.

The game is fantastic. The difficulty discourse around this game is totally misguided. The first part of the game is hard because you have nothing, but by the time you're done with the first dungeon you'll be SO much stronger. If you grind out some bones even a little bit you'll be rolling through the game.

I also love the insane variety of trinkets and sub weapons in the game. There must be like 60+ trinkets each of which have meaningful gameplay or stat differences, and the sub weapons go from jokes (fishing rod--- or is it??) to seemly super powerful. The game has a ton of variety.

My #1 tip is that despite the open seeming nature of the world there probably is a "right" order to do things (with maybe one exception), so do try to get cute (especially early on) unless you want to suffer. Do what the newspapers point at mostly and you'll be fine.

Thanks...

it's been bad mentally these past few months. It was worst these past 7 days. Things are messed up IRL that I need some place to exist online, which now is not suitable for me.

Ha ha! Alexandros said brake instead of break! Let's bully him now!

This really sucks in places where buying Steam credit at retail is still the most-preferred way to buy.

Given Valve has said many-a-time that they eat shit on these cards, the negatives must have started to outweigh the benefits.

Also, fuck scammers.
I guess it's regions where people mostly pay in cash? Because I don't know any online store that supports as many payment services as Steam does. I know there is (was?) some nonsense with Paypal and Steam recently, but that's not in Valve's control, obviously.
I think Steam still supports PaySafeCard, I would guess that would wrok as a stand-in for the gift cards.

The final dungeon is surprisingly brutal, even when my Mina had maxed out stats and stat boosting trinkets. The game has a weird difficulty curve where the first few hours are hard, then it goes into a lull then it gets hard again at the end.

I still really liked it a lot. Probably my GOTY runner up right now, just behind Pragmata.

Making my way to the end of Lost Judgment. Maybe I was expecting too much coming form the excellent first game, but Lost Judgment kinda feels like the devs had no idea how to make this game interesting. The bullying angle never ends up going anywhere for most of the game, with the murder plot immediately overshadowing it and the game just needs way too long to connect the two. Might be the first time a Yakuza (or spin off ) game just started to bore me. And to make matters worst, the side content is also super weak and weirdly inaccessible. Instead of just letting me play stuff, the game is obsessed with putting up barriers. Want to help these kids with dancing? Too bad, gotta grind some minigames to get better at your "ledership" skills. And there are so many side quests that are like that.
Gotta beeline the main story and just forget about everything else. Which is a shame, because I basically did 100% of the story content for the frist Judgment game and had an absolute blast. With Lost Judgment, it feels the team just had no direction. Kinda happy that this might be the last one of these, since the main actor for Yagami is not interested in coming back.

Steam takes an L

The language suggests that this move is limited to physical gift cards but I suspect it will apply to digital wallet codes as well. After all, those are just easy to use for scams/money laundering etc. This is going to be a seismic shift for many poorer countries, especially those where credit cards are not as prevalent as they are in prosperous countries. I've personally been buying Steam wallet codes primarily from Amazon for the last 3-4 years at least. They were very convenient and offered a token 2-4% discount plus another 5% from using an Amazon co-branded card. It's not a lot but it adds up. I can always just fall back on using credit cards directly on Steam but that's not true for everyone here, and especially not for kids. Plus, there are other regulatory headaches that even I'd have to face. Banks in my country are pretty skittish about any 'online gaming' transactions because over here that phrase is most widely understood to be online betting and gambling, which is illegal. I've personally had Steam transactions denied and then had to call up the bank to sort it out. Sometimes I've had to switch over to another credit card. While Valve has done a lot of work to support multiple payment options in many countries around the world, this is just bad news any way you look at it. And while the justification of not wanting to deal with scams is pretty airtight, the very cynical side of me thinks that they won't mind clawing back the 15% revenue that they used to have to give up to gift card vendors.

Yeah I felt the same way when I played it. The school subplot demanded too much from the player for what was ultimately... a subplot. I can appreciate the idea giving Yagami two mysteries to deal with but they should have somehow interwoven them together instead of basically branching the game on two entirely separate paths where one wasn't nearly as interesting as the other. I ended up just ignoring the school stuff and played through the main murder mystery.

I started Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter a couple of weeks ago but I haven't been able to play much these past few days. I noticed on my save file that I have 8 hours played and it says I'm still in the prologue. I've been doing quests in and around Rolent city and I haven't been grinding levels or anything. I do spend some time talking to people in town. Does the game just have a really long prologue or am I messing this up somehow?

One thing that stings about the gift cards going away is I was trying to convince my Employee Rewards Programme to add Steam cards to their roster. They have the other platforms already, and it would've been nice to get 10-15% off Steam cards.

Is digital gift card an option in this case?

One big issue I see with no steam cards, parents cant give those as gifts for children anymore. Hell gifting like that in general Im sure was pretty big. Also I assume for quite a few they could only buy games on steam with those cards. So yeah this is pretty huge.

I’d usually get one for Father’s Day, but I’ll have to tell my daughter they’ll be digital only.

I thought I had screwed up and got a bad ending, but there's only one "real" ending with the other one being a joke if you play a very specific way and have foresight as to what to do.
Yeah I thought the same, and i was kind of confused for a few minutes

The game is quite long, I think I completed it in like 60 hours and as a series veteran, I wasn't talking to every NPC or doing 100%.

If you're doing all the quests and talking to everyone it's believable. Just keep following the main quest and you'll see when the chapter changes. Also the "prologue" isn't just like Tutorial (though it is also that), there's plot happening, albeit slowly.

Welcome to a wonderful series and I hope you enjoy the ride. 2nd is coming later this year and you will undoubtedly be very interested in it when/if you get to the ending of 1st.
