I've been firing up some games, in order to do some of the many Halloween events that are happening, and once again I fired up Minecraft Dungeons.
Every time I do so, I get the same reaction: "I really need to play more of this game!".
It's funny, I absolutely didn't connect at all with the original Minecraft, it's just not my thing, so I really wasn't particularly interested in this game, but ended up buying it last year, a bit of an impulse purchase, curiously enough to do a Halloween event, and the game is surprisingly fun.
I have a total of 20h played throughout the year, so basically all I did was I fire it up to do some events, and every time my reaction is the same: I really need to "properly" play this game, start to finish. This will be the year.
For those unfamiliar with it, the game is an action RPG (think, say, Diablo/Grim Dawn/Titan Quest, ...), but simplified quite a bit, to a point where it almost feels like a Gauntlet game, in larger maps.
I say that as a good thing. It's a great game to just plug the controller, sit back, and just hit and shoot at everything, while improving your character, and gathering new loot.
The aesthetics surprisingly work, despite its simplicity, the game does feel like a "grand adventure", and give it a certain old school touch.
And a final note on the soundtrack. I can't believe how awesome the soundtrack to this game is. It almost feels like a "waste", to have a soundtrack that is frequently moody, and haunting (one of the tracks you'll hear at camp, which I'll link to below, is a piano melody that is just wonderful), with a game with such simple graphic design.

With the season of big sales approaching, if anyone is on the lookout for a game that is great fun, with plenty of content, and the simplicity to appeal to a large demographic, be it old or new, "hardcore" gamers or kids who can barely pick up a controller, this one is well worth considering.
