I'd say Anthem, C77 or No Man Sky had similarly terrible launches PR-wise, but they were way more successful commercially so (at least in the latter two cases) it was worth for the companies to fix and improve them to the point where their present reputation is polar opposite to launch.
Concord is kind of unique in that it had no technical issues, and was competently made, but nobody simply cared about it and bought it.
Yea those were bad. I forget some of the Battlefield/front games too. They had some bad and negative PR waves against them for many different reasons.

But like you said they survived because games were still a commercial success to some degree. Concord was just dunked on without any type of support.

Sony sending a message that if you mess up GaaS you will get axed. Maybe that is why ND cancelled that TLOU multiplayer game. They feared it would fail and they would be destroyed for it.

Saw some videos of Dragen Age Veilguard going around and jesus christ.

I can't wait for the culture war to move on 10 years from now, so we can retroactively acknowledge how bad some of these games were written without being lumped in with said culture warriors
Writing is fine thus far, sure nothing extraordinary, on par on what one expect of the medium. It’s actually engaging more often than not. My criticism of it is that it’s more like ff7 remake than an actual rpg, quite shallow and linear . Granted I’m not that far yet so could open up more. But still enjoying it

I wouldn’t be surprised if Concord being sent to die was to scrub whatever last influence Jim Ryan had, and the bean counters recommended to just push it out to fulfill contracts and pull the plug ASAP.

Here was me wanting to ask how the latest sequel of an once renowned CRPG series compares to BG3, the last critical darling, lol. I guess it changed genre :shrugblob:

Looking pretty sweet if you ask me, the core beat 'em uping as well as all the bonus stage type stuff, G.I. Joe arcade game style (Space Harrier on foot) levels and other stuff when going after the bosses' giant forms and what not in the first person Megazord mode or whatever else. I hope it feels as good as it looks.

Upcoming patch for Metaphor:

Great patch. Hope they add in the toggle for sprinting instead of hold on console. I hate holding for sprint/turbo.

Also SteamOS 3.6.20 beta has 20% perf increase for Metaphor. I think this will be locked 60 fps by end of year lol.

The console version doesn't have the toggle option? :flare_lmao: :flare_lmao: :flare_lmao: :flare_lmao: :flare_lmao:
Nope lol. I thought maybe it would be day one patch there but nah. I'm glad my main save is Steam for Metaphor after that.

I think I had the same issue with Cold Steel 1/2 (and maybe 3) on PC where turbo was hold instead of toggle. But I can't remember and newer ports have it sorted as expected. I'm going to be downloading every Falcom Steam release soon for testing anyway. I haven't played CS1/2 PC in ages.

Some friends prefer hold for turbo but I never liked that.

Well, maybe it finally won't drop below 30 in some spots in cities I still don't get why the game runs so bad in general (relative to what it does), tho.

I used to prefere hold to turbo, then one day i got an injury and I came to appreciate the toggle.

I played the original game on the 360 or ps3 and got stuck on the last boss for like a week because I had no healing left, essentially no ammo and didn't realize I got autosaved into the last boss fight so I had to do it perfectly

That's about all i remember about that game to be honest

I still enjoyed it, but was disappointed overall since they were marketing it as a Shinji Mikami, Suda 51, and Akira Yamaoka project. Could've been much more.

Is it still dropping below 30 for you? I retested all the stress areas and never really saw it drop aside from maybe 29fps in one mid game hub area.

It's just a couple of busy areas in major cities (usually where there's the "market" part of it) and a couple of cutscenes (in the same areas).
As i said tho, I'm mostly confused why it runs like that.

Because its renderer is really unoptimized:
(not in the sense that gamers often mean, i.e. "high-end settings need more performance than I think is justified", but as in "does lots of absolutely useless work regardless of settings")

Oh no just saw that the new music in the Vampire Survivors DLC won't be part of the soundtrack that they have on steam. Was most excited about that! :crying-face:
As with every collab based on an external license, at one point the dlc will be taken down, so it makes sense for poncle to not add dlc tracks to the normal soundtrack to avoid issues (Among Us is most likely an exception, but why risking it with Konami?)
Same reason the 3 collab dlcs don't have steam achievements despite having in-game one
At least all songs are on his youtube channel

The servers aren't even online for another 12 hours. The beta is going to do huge numbers and the full release will be monstrous (assuming the PC version runs well, but with those system requirements...).

I was dead sure the game was going to cross a million CCU at launch but these system requirements are going to cause huge problems for everyone. I'm actually surprised that Capcom didn't scale back the game to allow it to run on lower spec hardware. And I'm very annoyed that there's virtually no chance this will perform acceptably (or at all) on the Steam deck.

Be careful if you hear a flute outside tonight.

Anyway, Silent Hill 2 is good, but there are definitely parts that overstay their welcome. It's annoying that everything needs to be like this nowadays...

You can load up the game and start precompiling the shaders, it takes about 10 minutes. I'd recommend doing it before the game goes live so you're not stuck waiting.

Apex citing the openness of Linux as the reason to drop support is pretty moronic. I'm sure the real reason is the Anti-cheat system they use doesn't want to the work to make sure the platform is safe and so they're just dropping it and screwing all the Steam Deck users and instead of correctly blaming their Anti-cheat partner.

Fucking online cheaters constantly ruining everything in every online game.

Been doing some Veilguarding, and at least the prologue and start is kinda nice. Doesn't overstay its welcome, serves as an effective tutorial and quickly get the ball rolling. 5/5 would release two ancient, blighted Elven Gods again.

Part of me wished the story would have been more about Solas turning into a twisted version of his own ideals as we try to stop him from achieving his goal, and I'm sure if David Gaider had gotten his version of the game out ,that's what we would have gotten. But after so much time, it probably makes sense to focus on something that does not focus too much on Solas, since that emotional investment requires having played a game from 2014.
