In my quest to becoming a Triple Triad master I hit a wall when I discovered the requisites for post 2.51 cards.
I got 140 cards (40% total) but from 3.0 onward most of the npcs require a tremendous amount of sidequests to be challenged, like do all beast tribe quests to challenge a single specific moguri, or all Alexander raids to challenge an opponent in Idyllshire. Not to mention the 5 stars cards that can be won only twice a month in weekly tournaments and so on
Too bad because I really like TT, but maybe it's time to become a chocobo racer now

Eh, funny that, I just launched the event quest myself. Really dragged my feet because I’m always letdown by those. I didn’t play a lot of them but they seem to be either grindy as fuck, some dialog tunnel for the sake of it, or just a little anecdotal side thing. Never played one that made me think ‘oh, that was cool’.
And, to make sure that I appears as a never satisfied Debbie Downer, I would be remiss to not add that I can’t stand the Gold Saucer, in a big way due to its music.

So now I’m lost in a directionless quest in a fucking casino with carnival music.

This, uh, was not my brightest idea.
Tip for you, speak to Ollier again and claim you have solved it. It will end the quest but with different endings. I missed the last 2 people and still got the emote.

I unlocked scripts for gatherers. Legit felt like a panic attack with all the shit I have to understand. It's far more involved than sub-50 gathering, which is a good thing, but they may have overkilled it ? I wonder if this is even an MMO or an Excel experiment at this point.

I may have to heavily use external websites to track all this shit.

So, thanks to the current gold saucer event (and the ability to buy some old glamours) I have updated the glamour for my Dancer. Really liking the long coat.

Playing through Shadowbringers. Complete the opening levels and hit the first dungeon and the introduce the Trust System, where you can use NPC's as party members instead of queuing in the Duty Finder. Anyway, decided to do it the old fashioned way and the dungeon pops in less than a minute. First time that has happened while I have been playing DPS.

:cat-heart-blob:

It actually has the gunmetal dye on the coat, the lodestone hadn't updated at the time. Gives it more of a black leather look. But undecided on the boots. Leave them white, metallic white or go purple to match the rest of the outfit.

The event is basically just +50% MGP obtained playing the mini-games (including triple triad, chocobo racing, etc.)
The glamour is Gambler Trenchcoat and is not related to the event, you just buy it with MGP at gold saucer

No idea if this will bring me back to GW2 or not, but I did love Factions back in the day. I was working on unlocking the Skyscale when I stopped playing last time. The virtuoso looks fun though. My main for most of my time with GW2 was a mesmer.

I haven't been doing the old relics. I am saving my self for Shadowbringers relics and Nier Glamour's. But I do need to start doing some of the extreme bosses for the Glamour's.

So I've been playing XIV for a month and a half now, I'm in the quests between ARR and Heavensward. Am I the only one who feels completely lost on what to do and how everything works outside of the MSQ? It all feels overwhelming especially compared to how braindead simple the MSQ is.

I am about 400+ hours in and there are some systems I still don't quite understand. I still haven't looked at any of the relic ear (my main class doesn't get any till the end of Shadowbringers, the dancer).

Is there any particular systems that are a problem?

I guess nothing too specific but I don't exactly know how I'm supposed to level up a second job/class without the MSQ or where exactly I'm supposed to get their gear. I'm not interested in grinding to level 50 for hours on end

I also wish there was a way to tell what things I should ignore because its just extra content for those who were waiting for new 2.x patches to come out.

I also see people crafting and doing things with tools that I hear is a whole game on its own

CosmicHorror69 The feeling of being overwhelmed, while in check, can be a pleasure and one goal of the designers, to increase immersion. You are free to level another class or craft, it’s not required and some things are horrible time sink but to each their own.

But more precisely… for starter don’t forget the xp bonus when you level up a secondary class. In effect, you gain more xp for your second class as long as it keeps being lower than the original.
That clearly don’t solve the grind, but diminish it.
As an aside, leveling another class is not the end of the world with those things in mind and the myriad of sub quests. And the occasional light grind. XP becomes a little sparse when you start leveling a third one in parallel.

Class specific gear doesn’t pop until lvl 50, prior ro that gear is mostly role specific. So if you play a second Tank for example, you can give them the same stuff as your primary Tank.
If it’s another role, I guess you can totally get by with job quest rewards, dungeon loot, shops at worst.
Or craft that gear ! But yeah, all of this was for the sake of clarifying things, I understand that you are not in this for the whole thousands of hours enchilada.

About identifying things you should ignore, I fear that will be on you, all we can give is broad advices. I mean, if you are one of those players who want to get to endgame AFAP, then I guess MSQ + Job Quests are your main priorities.

for XP I usemy Daily Roulette, in particular dungeon and trial roulette with a bit of the MSQ roulette. That should get you at least a level a day. After that level specific levequests. Thes can get you levels fairly quickly as well. But they tend to stop at level 60. I have seen mention that Palace of the dead being good.

if it is a hand/land job then levequests, beast tribe quests and once you complete heavensward the restoration.

the easiest rule of thumb is I usually always do blue quests. These nearly always unlock something useful like hard/extreme dungeons and trials or job specific roles.

There's something about GW2 that keeps me playing. I love the combat system, it sort of feels like I'm playing a fighting game and I've never had that feeling when playing other MMOs. Roaming around following my routine, then getting side tracked by either events, achievements, helping people out, etc. Feels like there's always something to do. I hope there'll be enough that interests in EoD for you to come back and play a little!

Will try my best to help.

When you enter the restoration there are 2 primary locations. There is a hut to the left and a bit to the far right.

The one to the right deals with crafter's and the one to the left deals with gatherers.

If you are doing both go and look at the guy to the right. He will tell you what recipes you need for crafting. These items can only be obtained from the diadem.

There are 2 guys to the left. The right hand one transports you to the diadem. This is a big loop full of crafting nodes. Run around grabbing resources. When you are done leave the diadem.

The guy on the left authenticates the items. These can then be used for crafting.

I usually sell any items I don't immediately use.[/ISPOILERS

For an, admittedly poor, defense, that’s really barely a spoil. But elaborating further about it would make things worse. Let’s just say that
it’s more of a small background thing than the name would make you think.
Or in other words, it feels like a far bigger spoiler than it is, in my opinion.

Well, it's looking like my Dancrer will hit level 80 by the end of the week. Currently just short of level 78. So 431 hours, a lvl 60 white mage, lvl 68 bard and various crafters I may actually hit my first fully leveled character.

As I get further and further away from Stormblood I find it less and less interesting. There are some great characters and some great story beats in there. It isn't even a bad story. I just think it is unfortunately wedged between Heavensward and Shadowbringers.

As I get closer to my level 80 character, I am trying to think of what to level next. I am tempted with the Samurai. A character class with virtually no utility other than to beat bosses down. Seems a good stepping stone to building up the courage to play a tank class.

Anyway as it stands the stories for me are currently Heavensward, Shadowbringers, Stormblood and then a Realm Reborn bringing up the rear. I still miss Herchenfelt and Ysale, they where such good characters. But at least we still have Estinean.

HW Spoilers : I hit the wham moment. Unfortunately, the cinematic had spoiled me the death of Nanamo and Raubahn getting future son gohan'd. I still love how cloak and dagger this whole business is. I'm also surprised that Teledj would let himself be done in like that. Finally, while I don't buy for a second that the Scions are dead, I love that they had their own little crowning moment of awesome. I cackled madly when Yda unleashed a freaking LB3 on those poor guards. Like, overkill much?

For now I am hit hard with the narrative dissonance though. I'm supposed to be an outlaw, and I love that, but I seem able to return to U'dah just fine. I won't, out of an attempt to immerse myself and instead will follow the quest but it's a bit unfortunate. Still, I love how many plot threads there are at once. I just wish the delivery outside of those last few cutscenes had had better production values : performance capture and proper cinematography, which are understandably expensive as heck.

I think part of the issue is how early on it all is. I believe if you speak to some guards and so on they have a standard response for the situation.

However if you enjoy heavenward as much as I did you will probably forget that part (the dissonance not the story).

Anyway I think I may be addicted to chocobo races. Started doing it as a way to pass time between the gates at the gold saucer. But not too far off breeding my first chocobo.

Right, sorry for spamming the group. Been all me on the last couple of posts.

So first things first, my Dancer has hit level 80. She will be my main now till I hit the end of all the Shadowbringers content. Also my chocobo is now up to level 10.

So I had decided I wanted to get some cash together to try and buy some housing. Nothing fancy, a small plot with a cottage would be enough. So looking it up I need 3,000,000 Gil for the plot of land and another 450,000 for the actual cottage.

So I started the week with around 500,000 Gil. I am currently sat at around 1,500,000 gil. And if all goes my way I should hit 2,500,000 gil by the end of the weekend.

My first tip is do your Roulettes. I have 3 Roulettes available to me. Levelling, Trials and 50/60/70 levelling. Between these three I get around 40,000 gil a day. Now part of this is probably because I am so close to the end game content however I never actually looked at what I was getting from these all the way through.

Secondly, if you have a crafter & a gatherer you will be able to craft dies. Remember Glamours are the true end game. I believe all the dies you can craft can not be bought from the various in game stores. They tend to sell for 500 to 1000 gil per dye. So not a bad source of income.

Now, from the end of Heavensward here is probably your best seller and where most of my money has come from this last week. Metal Dyes.

Note, some of the bits will be spoilered below. They do not spoil any of the MSQ however I will spoiler the specific names for anybody who just wants to enjoy the game naturally. Again though it is safe to read if you are concerned about the MSQ.

So during the post Heavensward content you will open up the Ishgard Restoration which is a boon for crafters. From around level 15 your crafters will be able to level at an accelerated rate, but that is beside the point. There is a festival for the crafters there which is 5 mini games. It runs 12 times a day at 2 hour intervals every 2 days. It takes about 30 minutes of your time and it drops prizes. Now it will mainly drop Fete tokens and a couple of little prizes associated with this. You can trade in the fete tokens for various items (mounts, attire, some ballroom etiquette stuff I think) but it is the 3 metal dyes you want. They currently sell on the Market Board for around 50,000 gil each. So over 2 sessions there is potentially 250,000 gil there.

Because I had been doing the event for a while I had managed to store around 100 of these tokens.

Anyway sorry for the wall of text and hope you can put some of this to good use.

So a heads up, next event is up. Simple run through, complete a fete, carry on and get a free polar bear mount.

Also the Shadowbringers soundtrack is now available on Streaming services.

Finished Shadowbringers on Friday. Such a great expansion. Spoilers ahead so all will be marked.

So Shadowbringers is the one that brings everything together. The big revelations about the Ascian backstory and there overarching plans. Revelations about your own characters associations with the Ascians. The revelation about the origin and nature of Zodiark and Hydaelan, which in turn casts doubt on the Warrior of Light. All the adventures in the First. I can't think of anything I didn't particularly enjoy.

The whole thing made me actually feel some sympathy for the Ascians (only some though), something I find this game is actually quite good at.

I am still working my way through the 5.1+ content. But I did try the first of the three Nier Alliance Raids. I tell you what. This is the first content I have gone into which doesn't appear to have had it's difficulty adjusted like the older content. I was effectively minimum iLevel and going in blind, other than assistance of a friend. It Was HARD!!!. But in a fun way. I can see myself doing these a fair bit. There is some nice gear in there, plus I need the Tomestones to buy better gear so I can meet the minimum iLevel to get in to the second Alliance Raid.

So it is a toss up at the moment on wether I prefer Heavensward or Shadowbringers. But such a great expansion and has me looking even more forward to Endwalker.

I've just recently looked a bit more into Blue Protocol, and man it looks right up my alley.

I'm hoping it can be the anime Action-MMORPG fix that New Genesis failed to be.
Shame that there isn't a release date yet though, and hopefully the gap between japanese and global release won't be too big.

Working on a couple of new jobs at the moment.

got my Dragoon to level 50. Which means I have my first Two sets of proper dragoon armour.

also started a tank. Spent yesterday grinding a gladiator, which I managed to get to Paladin. Have been enjoying tanking dungeons so far. However not really Done anything outside of the first four or five dungeons. Ignored Satoshi, hate that dungeon. Also ignore Rok Taw as that’s another one I hate. Think the first slightly complicated one I have coming up is Hauke Manor.

soloed Palace of the dead to level 10. Might try to get to level 20 today.

but mainly, I think I will be looking to do the last part Rabinastre Raid today so I can start the Save The Queen quests. I need to do these earlier quests and raids to unlock access to levelling up my level 80 relic gear.

Got my dragoon to level 50 this week.

A word of advice, if you are still doing a Realm Reborn and have the time. So the Dragoon storyline. It adds so much flavour and context to heavenward.

Plus you get to meet one of the best characters in the game earlier.

Working my way through the 5.3 content and I knew it was going to be an emotional roller coaster from its reputation but damn.

I never though they could top "A Smile Better Suits a Hero" from the end of Heavensward. But "The rains have ceased, and we have been graced with another beautiful day. But you are not here to see it." may have just topped it.

The fact that the writer for Shadowbringers is also doing Endwalker has me really excited for it. This is probably the most I have looked forward to a game in a long time.

So for any new players of FFXIV out there that, they are re-running the FFXV event. For doing the 3 story chapters you get the glamours for Noctis' outfit which are all dyable as well (the most critical part of any glamour, I may have spent 1 mill gil just to dye my level 50 dragoon armour red. worth it).

In addition to that there is a hair style, triple triad card and a few orchestration rolls on sale in the Gold Saucer, not sure on the MGP costs.

Finally there is the car, also available in the Gold Saucer. This will set you back 200,000 MGP. It is a transforming mount (ie the flying mode looks different to the driving mode) and can take 3 passengers. This is what I will be after first. Just need another 130,000 MGP.

So there was a live letter over the weekend. Looking at the re-worked classes and everybody loving the new Gundam Healer, sorry Sage class. Others loving the new Reaper class. I am there looking at the re-worked Monk and loving everything I am seeing there.

Happy to see they are re-working the Dragoon bar, was never keen on it being a countdown that you had to keep topped up. That is now a trait. Also a couple of new AoE's and they get their pole dance back.

Also happy to see that my Dancer, seeing as she is my main, is not getting too much of a re-work. There was a new move in there, a different animation to Improvisation and it looks like Standard Step is automatic now.

There are no story spoilers in here. Although you will see some of the backdrops for new locations in the expansion (if you have watched the trailer/benchmark you know what to expect).

I've been playing every job for the sake of seeing each of the jobs stories, but once I clear stormblood I'm planning on focusing on a single job. I wasn't sure at first which job to pick, summoner was already high on my list of jobs to settle on due to leveling up a healer job at the same time, but that trailer has sealed my choice to go summoner. ^^

Yeah, mate plays Summoner as his main and absolutely loves the changes to the job from what he can see.

My plan was originally to get a monk to level 80 and use that through Endwalker. But the changes look to be so drastic I will wait till the update instead. Stick to either my Dancer or Dragoon for my main.

After trying New World, I got to admit that it was interesting. I am still worried about the end-game content

I might just stick with FFXIV since Endwalker is coming soon. But if the lads decided to dive in New World then I have to get it :cautious:

Fortunately enough most of the people I play with aren't interested in New World. So I don't have this dilemma. Plus not a massive PvP fan so that helps as well

It’s a strange world. Let’s keep it that way.

This thread is sleeping. Which is not the end of the world, it's just super annoying to find because 'MMO' is too short.
So yeah, as I was saying in the Steam Thread, any New World player ?
