Does anyone know how to fix this hair texture issue? :dana_think:

Can't say I've seen anything like that before. Is it only in close-up or at all times?

Firslty, try tweaking with graphic options from the launcher. Max out shader renders and texture quality, then set sample render to "6". If it doesn't work try changing your hair color and/or style at the salon. I'm not sure which one or both is free. Some elements in the salon would cost you some AC or salon ticket (requires real money or event/quest rewards).

Ok, after playing the prologue...
I genuinely wonder if it wouldn't play better with a pad.
This is indeed menu hell.
The UI is horrible, but overall this is not so bad looking
I didn't understand what the fuck Xion said.

Got booted from ship 2, seems there is an issue.

You have that option in the launcher.
I will have to use it :sweaty-blob:

Do you mean the text size option under the Tweaker > PSO2 Settings? I already chose the option to fit a 2560x1440 resolution. Still way too small for me. I'll have to do some .ini edit tomorrow.

I didn't understand what the fuck Xion said.
That's normal, what Xion says is really vague at first, but she'll start making more sense later on.

Also the Episode 1 to 3 story mode was different originally, the current version of the story mode cut alot of stuff (like playable quests and alot of cutscenes) that the JP version had originally.
JP currently also has the cut version of the story and the original version is not accessible, but there's an youtube channel that has been uploading videos of the original version of the story subtitled in english.

So far they're still uploading videos from Episode 1, but they have the full Episode 3 done.
Ep1 (incomplete): Oceanic PSO2
Ep3: Oceanic PSO2

How do you enable SGSSAA?
This is an old game, so you use the good old DX9-era driver-level profile mechanics!

Note that you need to disable in-game FXAA (which you wouldn't want anyway when you can have real AA ;)) and motion blur (otherwise dynamic shadows break) -- no big loss at all IMHO.

I remember having some issues with SGSSAA back when Episode 4 released in the JP version (in 2016), mostly some special effects being broken, like the bow's Final Nemesis attack. I'll try checking tonight if those effects are still broken with SGSSAA nowadays.

The UI in this... takes some getting used to.

How do you actually add friends?

It does indeed look nice with Saiyan God Super Saiyan Anti Aliasing x4, and still runs at ~90fps @ 1440p <3

Also, it's pretty overwhelming. There's like a billion missions and side quests and progression systems :face-with-cold-sweat:
I'm level 16 as a Hunter and I have barely an idea of what I'm supposed to do.

Yeah, the start of PSO2 is really overwhelming, the result of 8 years of experimenting with new features (some of them failures).
Plus the early game nowadays is "balanced" towards rushing players to the end game, in the original 2012 release unlocking areas and client orders was alot more slower paced.

I guess this is one of the reasons PSO2 NGS is a new game, and not just an update for PSO2. It's a fresh start for the dev team, not just the players, and a chance to apply what they've learned throughout PSO2, I guess.

The core gameplay of this seems really fun, just played with a few friends for ~3 hours.

Everything outside the core gameplay is a clusterfuck, but that's expected to some extent when getting into a long-running service game very late.

Yeah, the core gameplay is pretty much the best part of PSO2, and it gets better as you unlock more skills and photon arts.

Plus the EN version is missing the newer classes that the JP version has, those newer classes are really fun to play with. They use weapon types from the existing classes, but in new ways.

An example of late-game gameplay from the JP version with the class that is gonna be released in late Q3 (Episode 5), it has a gimmick to switch weapons mid combos (no other class has this mechanic).

Spoiler warning, the video contains a boss that hasn't been released yet on the EN version.

Managed to sort out my font size issue with a little bit of googling and a .ini edit.

Before:

and after:

Not quite sure why I actually have to reduce the values to actually make it larger.

Code:
        Screen = {
            InterfaceSize = 2,
            MaxScale = 2,
            PreferredScale = 1.5,
            ReferenceResolution = {
                Y = 360,
                X = 640,
            },
        },
EDIT: And like clockwork, they've fixed the font scaling issue as soon as I jump back into the game. :dana_blanket:

From my experience, there seem to be a limit on how big you can resize the UI with .ini tinkering. That UI size is the biggest I can manage too.

But the latest Tweaker update seems to fix it entirely, it really fits my screen now at 1440p. Cool.

i am 9 hours into the game and I feel that I have only comprehended the surface of this game. There are so much to do and a billion things to learn.

Meanwhile, I also need to stop myself from playing. The gameplay loop is very addictive. Going to try multiplayer with my friend tonight. Let's see how it will go.

Oh right, since we have newcomers these days, do pay attention to what you feed to your MAG. If you're aiming for a pure MAG build (m-atk, r-atk, dex, mag, etc), you should feed your MAG with the right items. Melee weapon gives m-atk stats, ranged weapon gives r-atk, and so on.

If you're not into min-maxing, you can ignore it. But keep in mind that they can evolve too!

MAG is your little buddy that follows you around, you can get one very early from a quest. You can feed them to gain stats, which then will be added to your character's stats as well. So basically, MAGs are your manual stats build in this game, since you gain automatic stats increase on level up.

I want to make a ranged build, so looks like I need to feed them furniture. I didn't even realise you can feed them that. :dana_blanket:

How do you raise their level anyway? :dana_think:
For ranged atk, you'll need ranged weapons. But ranged weapons will raise dex stats too, so that's when you feed it furniture to reduce the dex.

Game still offline. Sega tried to pay for the servers in monopoly money ?
It'll be up in ~45 minutes.

Note that you can obtain devices to change the mag's appearance for any of the evolutions later on in the game, you don't have to sacrifice doing pure builds.

For pure builds, I usually go with:
Melee - alternate between melee weapons and monomates
Range - alternate between range weapons and dimates
Tech - alternate between tech weapons and trimates
Dex - photon arts disks

I go with mates items instead of room decos since mates are cheaper.

Also, we can exchange photon spheres for stat leveling up devices. We don't have to wait for the mag to get hungry to use these devices.

Emergency Orders something, are the equivalent of Fate in FF14 ?
If I change class, I will have a brand new skill tree and I will gain skill points as if I was starting the game ?

Emergency/Urgent quests can appear at the start of any hour. The warning appears at xx:45, and the quest becomes live at xx:00. When an urgent quest does happen, usually another can't happen for 2 hours, I think (counting from the start of the previous one, for example, if one happens at noon, another can't happen until at least 2pm).
There's both random urgent quests, and those that are scheduled by SEGA (listed on their official website).

Urgent quests include major boss battles, quests with unique team based objectives (for example, the tower defense quests), there's some beat many enemies quests and the seasonal quests (summer quest can appear currently).

Some urgernt quests are repeatable during a period of 30 mins, some can only be done a certain number of times, and some get a 2nd part when 30 minutes pass (2nd part becomes active at xx:30).

Schedule for these 2 weeks (PDT), random urgent quests are not included in the schedule:

And yeah, you have 1 skill tree for each class.

The class system is more or less similar to FFXIV, as in you can be everything and max out every class. But at level 20, you can also "dual-class" in PSO2 so you can get the benefits of the sub-class. Sub-class will also gain some exp from enemies and quests.

By memory there is red triangle, rainbow thing, another main one, then in texhnolyze pic there are others, there is FUN too... I will fail miserably, won't I ?
The main currencies:
- Meseta - the main in-game currency, it's the traditional gold, gil and so on.

- Arks Cash - the red triangle, this is the main premium currency, can't be earned in-game. Used for premium, arks scratch, inventory expansion, additional mags and skill trees, additional characters beyond the initial 3 limit (note that you don't buy the character slot, you only buy that one character, if you delete a character when you have more than 3, you can't remake it for free), and other microtransactions.

- Star Gems - the rainbow one, a secondary premium currency that is earnable in-game, used for the fresh finds shop, SG scratch, a few rental storages and such.

- FUN - earnable in-game from optional tasks like Kudos, used only for the FUN scratch and a FUN shop.

Then there's extra currencies that are only related to specific modes, like Casino Coins, Battle Coins (from the pvp mode), Challenge Miles (from the challenge quests), each has their own shops.

There's also shops that require materials instead of currencies, like Ex-Cubes, Photon Spheres, multiple types of badges, ...

Assuming that the materials shops have the same items for sale as the JP version (I haven't checked these in the EN version yet):

The most notable one of these is the Ex-Cubes shop, you can exchange weapons starting from rarity 10* and above for Ex-Cubes (at a rate of 1 to 1) and they're used to obtain 250% rare drop boosters, 30% and 40% augment success rate boosters, 3 days access to the full personal quarters (you pretty much can get 3 months worth of personal quarters full access from one or two late difficulty urgent quest sessions), mag level down devices (to fix mistakes in the mag stats), and other minor stuff.

The Photon Sphere shop also has some neat stuff, like 75% exp booster and food devices to increase mag stats, but the Photon Spheres themselves are mostly used to unlock weapons potentials (which happens at grind +10, +20 and +30).

If we count all the shop trade-in materials, there's at least a dozen currencies in the game lol. Just like in MMOs like WoW, pvp tokens can only be obtained by doing pvp, raid tokens are also the same. There are also factions tokens in WoW on top of those. Anyway, in PSO2 there are also various event-specific currencies, which can only be obtained and traded within the frame time of the event. It can get overwhelming indeed. But as posted above, the main currencies are meseta and the premium ones (ARKS, SG, FUN). A lot, if not most, of stuff can be bought by meseta through the market, so you can simply focus on that.

So to enhance weapons I need grinders. And I can only buy grinders with ex cubes that need 10 star weapons ?
What do I do with all the loot if I can't enhance, just sell ?
And I understood correctly that when you try to put some affix on a gear you lose the ones already on it ?

So many questions :sweaty-blob:

You can get grinders from regular drops as well.

Affixing though, that's a very messy system to say the least, in some cases you need multiples of the same augment to increase the chances of transfer, in other cases you have to mix specific augments (for example, Elder Soul increases the chance of transfering Casting, Genius and Spirit augments).

If that's the case that seems like a fool's errand, you got a perfectible weapon, try your hand at affixing and you probably fuck it up even more.

Exactly. Min-maxing item affixes is the true endgame of PSO2 (besides fashion). You'll burn most your meseta in this phase. Don't bother until you reach level cap and saved some money. I personally very rarely deal with item affixing, I simply use what I got or buy a good affixed items off the market, so I only need to enhance them.
