|OT| Red Dead Redemption 2 (PC) - Untitled Horse Game

Isn't this particular distribution agreement from 2017? And the reports that it is something new were false?

A.k.a valve never enforced it and I doubt they did with rockstar/Take2

it's even older than 2017, it's 2012-2013 and yes, Valve never enforced it, Reddit post already reported as misleading by media some weeks ago but somehow some outlets still need to publish something when day is slow.

If the Steam version requires the Rockstar Launcher then I'm just gonna get it on the Rockstar Launcher, I don't wanna have two launchers opening everytime I start the game.

both EGS and Steam versions will certainly require the R* launcher anyway, so yeah

It is entirely up to you but if you want to see games from Rockstar continuing to be released on Steam then I would suggest this isn't the best thing for you to do. If enough people go "fuck it I might as well just get it from rockstars shite store" then Rockstar is going to start questioning why bother with a steam release.

However if you are wanting more practical "non-philosophical" reasons for getting the steam version over the social club version lets just say in my experience with GTA 5 the steam version has had far fewer problems with being downloaded and updated.

That I can confirm. I own GTA V on the social club (now rockstar launcher) and it wasn't a pleasant experience.

1.) Finding the client was a pain in the ass
2.) After a couple of years there was a patch for the client that needed to be downloaded and installed separately. Otherwise the game wouldn't install.
3.) Plenty of login problems at the beginning
4.) DL speed was often enough atrocious

That said, I don't expect the new launcher to be as bad as the social club thing. But even I prefer the steam version this time around. One month is nothing.

I just realised when looking at the Rockstar Launcher there's no friends list, I can't find one anywhere unless I'm being blind

Also if you take a look at the Rockstar Store within the launcher at the bottom of the launcher it says services provided by Digital River. Nope, nope fucking nope. Steam it is.

They have that Rockstar Social Club thingy, I remember it from GTA V for playing online with friends. It's probably not yet integrated to the launcher, but it's there.

specs
photo_2019-10-09_18-08-28.jpg

The special edition is slightly more expensive than day 1 GTA V on Steam but still cheaper than PS4 standard edition.

Need to check it yourself, but here is mine.

Not great, but reasonable. Still cheaper than Cyberpunk 2077. Oh how the mighty CDPR has fallen.

The discount is only for the Rockstar Launcher is it not ? I definitely read that somewhere.

Basically the price for the Ultimate is the price for Special, and the price for the Special is for the standard.
That explains why there is no Standard Edition to buy.

R* doing a good optimization? Unthinkable! That 150GBs though, rip my HDD.

I'm almost ready to throw 2,5k at it, depends on my work (still stuck with a shitty intern position).

those specs arent terrible but i wasnt planning on PC purchase for a long time anyway so i guess when i do get to it if ever ill have upgraded by then

NEW PC DETAILS
Is that always online DRM or like Denuvo only checks once per several days?
sounds like the same thing that screw me with GTA 5 aka Arxan DRM + social club + R* Launcher + online check every few days

Good point. I recently tried downloading the massive 133 GB trail version of Gears 4 from the Windows store but couldn't even pause the download without it restarting. Atleast with Steam you know downloading works.

I got it at launch on PS4, it's fine, but I'm in no rush to buy it again for 40%+ more than I paid for it on console at launch. Deep sale years from now.

I can tell you if you think GTAO is buggy, wait til you try out RDO.

Man..have a lent PS4 and doing some online stuff (I think they going to treat it like if you playted previous GTAV and give you stuff) I can tell you every session bugs. Usually have to keep finding new sessions til my camp icon shows up as it doesn't show, can't set it up (option keeps flashing) and then random message about Cripps packing up lol.

I get many others but that is the most prevalent.

Watch the official Red Dead Redemption 2 PC Launch Trailer that showcases the all new graphical and technical enhancements on display in the PC version, as Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang desperately try to outrun the law. After being hounded off the mainland, Arthur and the gang find themselves caught in a local conflict on the shores of a remote Caribbean island, disoriented and yearning to find a path back to their hidden fortune - and the dreams of a better future promised by their charming and increasingly erratic leader, Dutch van der Linde.
