Looks like it yea. You select from prebuilt characters that is probably how they gonna monetize it. So something like Left 4 dead mixed with Rogue like + Souls like

It feels like they were making one more expansion to please old Dark Souls fans and decided to scrap it so they can make this Co-op thing instead with a ton of designs/bosses/enemies from DS1-3 + new stuff inspired by ER.
