Thought i'd make a thread to track the progress of fight against the shittiest of the shitty DRM solutions :) Might be a useful resource for people who refuse to buy games as long as they're infected with this malware.

Feel free to post any news updates about cracks and removals of denuvo from games!

DO NOT post any links to cracked downloads, though! This is not what this thread is for, it's purely informational!

---

for starters:

and in some good removal news: Yakuza Kiwami is infection-less ... and so will be Yakuza 0 once the newest patch is out of beta! :)

Cracked mere days after release... Time to kill it off.
Those higher-ups need to understand that countless games sell great with minimal (Steam) or no DRM (GOG) at all.
Pirates won't suddenly cash out big bucks just because games can't get cracked for a few days or weeks. They'll play sth else and wait.

yeah, exactly ... it makes VERY little difference

i'm sure there are some people that are SO impatient they'll just buy the game ... but, on the other hand, there are also people who will specifically NOT buy the game because of the DRM .... so in the end it all probably evens out

They didn't even need to crack Metro Exodus, apparently it's just keygen for Denuvo's offline activation.

wait, what? how does that even work? 'cause previously they had to spoof all the checks, no?

Something like this: It has been done this way by other group (Steampunks) for Dishonored 2 for example:

Random image from google:

So basically it generates license file, which means Denuvo won't try to connect to servers as long as hardware doesn't change (at which point, you could regenerate license file).
Thus bypassing it entirely.

i wish someone would finally figure out a way to completely rip that thing out of the exes ... but that probably won't happen any time soon ... if ever

It basically exists to publisher can lie to their stock holders about pure potential sales. Sometimes they get small devs with lies of sure sales also.

Also subcribe to this, it gets the games almost when they upload the page, the downside it never updates removal.

Steam Curator: Denuvo Games

As long as capcom and ubi continue to use it they will probably be safe their games move a lot of units.
Sega removing it is nice but they are not touching their big sellers.

I wonder how much publishers pay Denuvo, just for it to get cracked within a couple of days.

It's good to see that Japanese publishers are starting to abandon it slowly, such as SEGA and Bamco. Seems like SqareEnix and Capcom are still in full Denuvo force, though I'm not really sure.

Capcom started to remove denovo once their games released for a while. We'll see how it goes in the future.

Nice. Hope they can make a bigger and better Mutant Year One or something. Game was great but quite limited.

Needs more meat to it, make it a Wasteland 3/Original Sin style game and charge full price for that then :)

Denuvo's like a paid subscription for a class you enrolled. No one likes it, & it's incredibly taxing for people that don't have the funds for it.

apparently , major fuvkup in Capcom , they left some NoDenuvo devbranch without password for a while ...... curious to see what will they do next
too bad people who paid for the game will now have to wait a year (if not more) for them to remove it officially ... sigh

some random indie game stops plan to launch with Denuvo
The last weeks we gathered so much great feedback about our game, people that like the art, the gameplay mechanics and much more. That's why we focused more on what people don't like about our plans.

DRM, something not to much gameplay related but some of you feel really upset, in other words Denuvo.

As some of you already noticed we had the Denuvo disclaimer on the Steampage – yes it was planned to run our game DRM protected by Denuvo, but now it is gone.

Sure many of you guys won't understand why we wanted to put Denuvo into our game but let me clarify a few things.

  • DRM is a pain, it limits me!
DRM is something no one likes, most of you people never will hit any requirements that are set by the DRM Software – 5 PCs within 24h… when would this appear to you?
  • DRM slows down the game!
In our tests (as a publisher) and the test of the developing studio we actually didn't see a single impact on running the software with DRM or without.
  • We'll have to pay more `caus of DRM!
DRM is cheap – it is not free but with only one person more that actually would buy the game many DRM protections are paid
    • Day 1 cracks are really really awful
    • Visit the known pages and see your title, free, with one click with 100 of comments is a pain.
    • People join your Discord, email your support and actually eat your time etc. who have never paid a penny – they hurt.
    • People who are telling you, yes i just try it – i will buy it later (do you know anyone who ever did that?)

Pirates be prepared!

Protecting your idea, your baby, your work for the last year, often feels like protecting your family (many of you game devs might understand), but the question is what's the right „weapon“ to protect them.

With being open in all communication around our small idea of „Rescue HQ – The Tycoon“ up to the development and hopefully after the release we try to focus on the community, on the ideas, thoughts, requests that you actually share with us.

That's why we ask ourselves, is it actually worth to hold YOU back from buy the game – because you don't like DRM, because we want to hold back Mr Torrent from getting the hands on our game? After many thoughts, talks etc. it is a clear NO for us. We don't want to hold you back, just because Mr Torrent would never ever buy the game. Thats why we removed the need of any kind of DRM Software protection and just hope that you love our art, our baby, our game that much that you are willing and fair enough to actually buy it.

Getting rid of any kind of DRM actually even open us more options in modding, that's why we are super happy to announce that we actually will be open with most of script to the people who buy our game.

Please feel more then free to share your experience, your thoughts or just your words about going Denuvo free (more or less DRM free beside the needed Steam stuff).
Rescue HQ - The Tycoon :: No more Denuvo?

Pretty bad PR there, like someone took 5 mins to write a forum post. Ignores legit concerns and basically says fine, since some of you guys really hate DRM we won't have it, even though you're totally wrong about all of your invalid arguments against it (yet concede pirates wouldn't buy it anyway and pirate another).
