New week, new thread! What are you playing?

I have been putting most of my gaming time into Dungeons of Hinterberg. It's fairly short so I'm close to finishing it. Doing the late-game grinding now to get all the cheevos (some of the requirements are quite badly designed, imo). Apart from that, the game was quite good. Solid gameplay with surprisingly decent writing and story.

As the grind is a slog, I'll be returning to Super Robot Wars V and play the remaining two scenarios. Might be able to finish both games this week. We will see.

Been playing Pioneers Of Pagonia, which is basically a modern classic Settlers game.

Struggling to get into it.
It just feels like a rush up the tech tree til the end of the mission. And the UI is pretty ugly.

Started Conscript.
It's a WW1 survival horror game. Enjoying it so far.

Also a bit of Hollow Knight: Silksong.
Currently in Greymoor, feels pretty difficult for how early I am in the game.

Played though the 6.3/Luna 4 story in Genshin.

Nod-Krai story has been absolutely goated. Genuinely incredible stuff. I'm not sure if I've ever been this locked in and I've been playing and enjoying the game since over 5 years, lol.
Also more explorationing to do!

Also, her character trailer is art.

Next week I'll be continuing with that and give Arknights Endfield a try.
The visuals and music are sick.

I think there's a good chance I'll enjoy the game itself, but the gacha system looks like convoluted dogshit (even more than the norm) and makes me give them the side-eye. Oh well. Not really gonna affect going through the launch content and we'll see after that.

I've replayed Atomfall yesterday, you can complete the game very fast, I rushed through it in semi-speedrun fashion (90 minutes approximately, there's way faster people, of course). I did a manual save before a point of no return in case I wanna go back in and explore other endings, side quests etc.
Its really a fun game.

Other than that, I divide my gaming time between The Outer Worlds 2 and Echoes of the End currently. Outer Worlds 2 is fun and right up my alley; and Echoes of the End plays a bit like Tomb Raider 2013 (without the crafting) combined with Hellblade-like visuals/landscapes, just not as dark/gritty/messed up. If you like action-adventures with puzzling, I recommend it. And it punches above its weight as an AA game.

Haven't heard of these two before. Both look like what I'd enjoy. Into the wishlist. ;)

Endfield visual is pretty sick. First big game of 2026 so I will probably watch some gameplay footage, although I'm not intended to start another gacha lol (one is more than enough).

Jesus Christ that was a long game. Loved it and would have been my runner-up for GOTY if I had actually played it last year. I appreciate it is a long game that doesn't have any padding with RPG mechanics or grinding and it's long just because it's so massive.

Started and finished Mika and The Witch's Mountain. Still gotta get a few more achievements.
It's totally fine I guess. It's one of those games where all the dialogue is voiced with huh, ooh, yay, wooo, ummm soundbites and it's really annoying.
There's also a pretty prominent bug where music doesn't properly loop/start again if you hang out in some areas longer than the current song, and so occasionally you get these really long silent/musicless stretches of the game, it's really quite weird. Also glancing at the Steam forums it seems the bug was reported way before launch since it was also happening in the demo. :rip:
Kind of makes me a little hesitant to grab any other past or future games from the dev.

I have been playing some more of Wuchang: Fallen Feathers. I have now spent 27.7 hours to complete one and a half chapters out of five, and later chapters seem to have about the same amount of content based on glancing at some walkthrough maps.

It is an interesting game in some ways. It is a quite traditional soulslike full of mimics, hidden secrets, NPC quests with cryptic goals, challenging non-respawning enemies, unlockable shortcuts, Estus-like recovery items, and even the classic Dark Souls feature of not including an in-game map.

It is a huge game in a somewhat dizzying way. Remember the massive metroidvania game Afterimage? That game was also developed in China, came out of nowhere, and presented a vastly bigger metroidvania map than most others in the genre while maintaining a surprising level of quality. It is the same deal for soulslikes with Wuchang. It is not a dual design with soulslike maps placed in an open-world setting like in Elden Ring, but a massive connected soulslike world, which surely must be one of the biggest ones ever designed — possibly with some competition from Dark Souls 2.

The quality of level design does not seem to decrease as you get further into the game, with the areas in the second chapter being more atmospheric and more complex while introducing interesting new gameplay mechanics, such as freezing cold environments that can only be survived by having line of sight to the sun, standing close to fire, or being indoors. The game has also included huge subareas hidden in plain sight — after falling down cliffs, walking across an invisible bridge, and so on. The game truly seems vast, with hidden riches in every corner in the best possible way.

Some criticism has been directed at the game for changing some of the boss encounters to make historical Chinese figures survive instead of being killed, for censorious reasons. That criticism may possibly be well-founded, but the game does not come off as a tame, toned-down experience at all. The depictions of war, raiding of civilians, and opportunistic killing are quite provocative, and definitely contribute to the atmosphere, flesh out the world-building, and make the exploration feel more suspenseful.

I have already written a lot, but the progression systems are also quite interesting. The game must have one of the most complex progression systems in a soulslike. You start in the middle of a huge grid of interconnected unlockable combat abilities, passive abilities, entirely new gameplay mechanics, stat upgrades, and weapon upgrades. The weapon upgrades are somewhat interestingly unlocked for the entire weapon type, so if you have +5 for one-handed swords, that includes all weapons in that category and not only the specific weapons you choose to upgrade. Spell use is more widely supported than in most other soulslikes, but you have to have quite an advanced understanding of the gameplay systems and unlock appropriate nodes in the progression system to get a good build.

Finally, the graphics are outstanding, and the music and sound effects are pretty good as well. Some people seemed to have performance issues when the game was just released, but the game runs very smoothly with basically maxed-out settings on my 5090 + 9800X3D gaming PC.

In conclusion, based on what I have played, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers stands out as one of the most ambitious and interesting soulslikes I've played in the last couple of years. I would broadly recommend the game to fans of soulslikes.

i've been finally getting around to finishing Daybreak 2 after stopping for a while on finishing fragments due to how people talk about act 3

unfortunately i've found myself agreeing with those takes pretty strongly which I don't always do with this series, it definitely overstayed it's welcome and reminded me pretty strongly of the worst parts of Cold Steel 4(and if anything I actually liked that more because there was more moving around and the npc nostalgia hit a little harder with more games to work with)

it's definitely sent a game i've otherwise mostly felt positively about plummeting down in my personal rankings for the series but i'm in the finale now so looking forward into getting into the new one soon which people seem to like more
