I was a little under the weather for the weekend, and started god of war ragnarok. Happy I started it so far! I forgot how much I liked the first game. This one seems like a good sequel. While it's kinda more of the same, that works because story and drama are worth continuing. I don't think the first game got enough credit for that, as it nips at the heals of last of us.
Nice to play a fancy aaa game that's not an open world. And if you ask me, it's a legit action game. A simpler one, but legit. The only contention there would be the long periods of downtime (traversal, light puzzling) between fights. For some people, this is going to hurt it or at least invalidate it as an action game. While this would change with my mood, I am happy with the "bust heads, braindead puzzle, repeat" loop.
But when it's time to fight, you have to FIGHT. The default difficulty is enough of a challenge that I'm having to try some sections several times, rethinking my approach and seeing the results each time.
Good game so far!
edit: oh and it's sitting there on the ps sub, which of course helped the decision to play it over the other stuff I was considering.
