So quick update on the American girl... Spent several hours in the park today, drinking rose and eating macarons... Asked her if she wanted to be my girlfriend and she said yes. Still haven't told her just how messed my life is. Feel like I'm in a romcom where you scream at the guy not to base anything on a lie.XD

Won 60€ in an internet casino, found 15€ on the road and got 17€ per hour at workplace so all in all today was a good moneyday. Monday the moneyday.

When are you going to tell her that you are actually not a person but a haunted coathanger?

I am always honest, in that when things come up I tell as it is. I told I'm a starving artist waiting for housing. So hopefully I won't have to go into more detail than that. It's like saying I have steady gig in a closet and that is little scary sometimes . (Being an haunted coat hanger)

Not sure if this thread is about what I'm going to say but after almost three years of ongoing financial woes, I'm just grateful to have a job, a roof over my head, food on my table, and lovely people (which all of you are!) around me.

My job at Volkswagen is the first one I've had which doesn't make me embarrassed to tell people what I do for a living. No, I'm not a manager at Gamestop, Wing Stop, a hospital needle bin recycle guy, a security guard at an airbag factory or a DoorDash driver anymore. You literally have never seen anyone more excited to have their own cubicle than me. Complete w Ozzy Osbourne poster, Red Wings blanket and buddha statue. No Funko on my desk, yick!

This is going to be a weird one since it's not actually happening to me.. I just kind of benefit from it. A friend of mine that I've known for 20 years and who is practically a brother to me is going to have a brief stint of bachelorhood throughout most of June.

His wife and kids go to visit her parents twice a year, once in the winter and once in the summer and my friend is usually only able to make one of those trips due to his job being pretty stingy when it comes to vacation time.

With him living several states away these days it's almost impossible for us to find time to hang out due to a multitude of different reasons. So this is the one time of the year that the two of us always look forward to. A time of stupid game purchases for the sake of co-op and a lot of fast food mistakes.

Last week I got my car's emmisions test done. I know that doesn't sound like much but this is california and if you make the tiiiiiniest adjustment under the hood then it can be a real adventure to get type of exemption you need.

Currently being blessed to get into a college. Really excited for it. That and the new gaming laptop.

I'll be little less active than MC than I'm already, but I've been really to be part of this community.
Congrats!

I got a new, better paying job, which will help both to advance on my career and get me out of the financial hole I'm in lol

THANK YOU!!

THANK YOU! and CONGRATS!
Let's kick the hell out of financial holes!
As you say that, I’m pretty happy about the next school year. Texas has just bumped the teacher minimums significantly. Also, the independent district I work for is all about the students and teachers, not boosting the top administrators’ bank accounts. We are also to be getting a significant raise there as well. With this, the wife and I can start attacking consumer debt and her school loans. Let’s be smart with our finances, my friend!

Excellent news! Wish you good luck!

She was like, "Your dad has bought my love." In jest, of course...or maybe not???
Your dad seems like an interesting man.

Summer holiday, the air is cool and wet so basically it's a Finnish summer just because the sun doesn't set but the best thing is that I don't have to be bored at work and I can finally play stuff I've had shelved for ages. Also being home with kids is fun when they aren't complaining about boredom 'cause it's a cold wet Finnish summer.

Also I took a Twitter hiatus so I'm not bothered by people squabbling or stupid political bullshit. It's refreshing.

My previous backpack being in ruins from almost 2 years of travel, I went hunting for a new one. Of course, everything is overpriced but, at the end of my rope, I get into the last outdoors shop I had on my list.

I found a backpack that was not only, in the unlikeliest event, the same type and better than the one I was looking for (foldable, 20+L), it was on freaking sale.

It's the little things. My life is still a clusterfuck of stress but that's one less on the pile :).

I'm moving out in a few weeks (hopefully the next one). Going to live alone for the first time, which scares me because I can't cook or do pretty much anything on my own. But I see it as a good way of maturing, and hopefully it will be a nice experience. Plus everyone has been incredibly helpful with this, so I'm really grateful.

So yeah, here's hoping this is the start of something good, even though I'll be living in the same city as always so it doesn't really seem that big of a change.

Hey! I moved out of my parents place two years ago. It can be scary but the freedom is worth it. I also suggest that you learn to cook a few meals, or your budget will suffer.

Congrats! It can be rough at first but it will get easier. Plus like Naroh said the freedom is nice.

And I agree with Naroh when it comes to cooking. There's a bunch of different things you can start with that are pretty difficult to screw up and can serve as a great way to learn. I'm sure folks will be more than happy to share ideas or even post some links to easy to make recipes. Then when you become more familiarized with everything you can start having some fun with it and put your own spin on things if you feel like it.

Last friday I got married to the love of my life
things I learned:
  1. getting married while your stomach wants to evacuate, not fun
  2. not eating due to the above, also a bad idea
  3. doing 1 and 2 outdoors in 30 degree weather with little water - light headed, but still legal :D
Not that it should have been my priority, but the internet in the bridal suite was, less than stellar.

Yep, I know how to make some rice with a bunch of vegetables, or noodles (never made tomato sauce from scratch, but I'd like to try), but not much more. I want to learn a lot more, so this is a good excuse to finally do it haha.

Congrats! It can be rough at first but it will get easier. Plus like Naroh said the freedom is nice.

Thanks! I'm looking forward to it, both the freedom and learning new things.

It's an incredibly small thing, but I managed to find a pair of shoes that I missed out on in June and figured I had missed for good. Or at least at a decent price. They should be here sometime early next week. Of course what followed soon after was some not so great news. That's another story entirely and not really fit for this thread obviously.

Probably helps if I include a pic of said shoes, huh? :)
