I hate early access "demos" with only limited content. The same happend with Ion Fury. Do not get me wrong, i bought a lot of Early Access games, but most of them are getting ALL the content while in Early Access.

Yeah seems like an Ion Fury situation, but I have a lot of confidence in these devs.

Will jump right in on this one and report back when I have time to play it.

I like it.

But it feels like your character is 3 feet tall and goes down to slithering level when crouching.

And mouse sensitivity goes out of whack randomly causing me to fall off ledges constantly where I mean to simply turn comfortably.

So it does feel like early access, it's not like DUSK which was rather polished early on and basically just got more content as time went on.

I'm sure it will turn out amazing in the end though, the core is there. DUSK is worth (re?)visiting in the mean time however, even if it's more indie.

Humble has a nice price, if you are a monthly subscriber.

I buy a lot of Early Access games as well, and I mostly wait until a game is fully released to properly play it (outside of maybe squeezing in a few minutes). :giggle:

Why do I buy them early, then?
Well:
-it's usually significantly cheaper
-frequently, you get a freebie or two (in-game content, free DLC/OST/Artbook/...)
-to support the developers (hopefully the extra funds may translate to a better game, and community feedback and testing as well)
-despite some games that were abandoned, Early Access games are a much less risky proposition than crowdfunding games, in the sense that even if they are abandoned, at least you got a playable chunk for your troubles (with plenty of crowdfunding games, I was left with nothing).
In a way, I have replaced crowdfunding games, with Early Access games.

I'm disappointed personally. The sound and visuals are good, but the encounters, level design, mobility, and weapons feel like an afterthought.

Arcane Dimensions is a much better game and completely free. I strongly recommend playing that instead if you haven't already.

I like the game a lot, but I do think this one is early in some aspects.

As enemies spawn you can't hit them. The shotgun is frankly overpowered (one hit kills so many enemies even with a partial miss -- Quake usually required dead on shots to kill even weaker enemies with the super shotgun in one hit) and the minigun-like teeth shooter or whatever is super underpowered (not only weak, but burns ammo, and even for long range enemies (where it should do decently) the projectiles are so slow that they rarely make contact with even slow enemies). But I think the enemy spawns are fine. Enemies spawning in as you pick up an item is kinda lame, as is enemies spawning into areas you've already been, but it's not terrible.

I expect some of these to get tweaked. Remember this is a true Early Access. I can't see this as anything but that.

Sure, AD is better, but it's built upon an all time GOAT. That weapon balance ++ (for the weapons they add and tweak) comes at a discount when making a mod.

I'll continue to give it a chance, but right now it doesn't inspire the same confidence as Amid Evil, Dusk, and Ion Fury did when they launched.

The first WRATH: Aeon of Ruin Early Access Content Update is now upon us!

Visit The Gardens, a sprawling ancient facility once known for bountiful harvests, lays in rot. Massive rusted iron domes hide terraces of decomposing vegetation and fissured aqueducts now rife with creatures hellbent on tearing Outlander apart. This new level hosts a number of new secrets to plunder, including a new enemy and Artifact. A devastating foe known as the Wretch skulks within the putrid garden. This fast, muscular creature utilizes a massive energy cannon stitched through the core of its body. Move quickly and strike true or suffer the consequences.

To even the odds, Outlander has a powerful new Artifact: Confounding Attar, a small vial of bewildering oil capable of pitting foes against one another. Take advantage of the ensuing chaos as they tear themselves apart and rend the enemies’ mottled flesh with the Ruination Blade.
