What is YU-NO: A girl who chants love at the bound of this world.?

YU-NO is one of many famous adventure games written by the renowned creator Hiroyuki Kanno. This sci-fi adventure game was released for the PC in 1996, Sega Saturn in 1997, and for Windows in 2000.

Tread across innumerable parallel worlds to unravel a hidden mystery and use the A.D.M.S. (Auto Diverge Map System) as a visual guide to find your way.

After many years, YU-NO comes to the West in a remake for Nintendo Switch™, PlayStation®4, and Steam®.

Story

While on break from school, Takuya Arima, a student at Sakaimachi Academy, receives a package from his father who supposedly died months ago.
The package contains a round mirror and a strange object with glass beads fitted into it. Accompanying the package is a letter which leads Takuya to believe his father may still be alive:
“Take this device to Triangle Mountain on the Sword Cape at 10 PM.”
Determined to solve the mystery of his father’s disappearance, he follows the letter's instructions and heads to Triangle Mountain. There he encounters a beautiful woman lying on the ground, unconscious and dying.
She's not alone. Takuya is suddenly confronted by his father's old friend and a reclusive transfer student.
At that moment the ground rumbles violently and light envelops him... Takuya's journey through parallel worlds begins!

Message from the Creators

Producer Makoto Asada / MAGES. Inc.
I wonder how many years it has been since I first encountered this incredible game. YU-NO: A girl who chants love at the bound of this world. is a game that has always lingered on my mind, yet remained vivid to me. Like this project, I too am new here, but I wish to do my best to make a great game for everyone.

YU-NO is a game I love created by a dear, departed friend. Please be patient until its upcoming release in 2015.
*This message was written before YU-NO's Japanese release.

Ryo Nagi / Character Design
I joined the project with apprehension of the daunting task of remaking a famous game, but also the excitement of bringing the beauty of YU-NO to a whole new audience.

now lets research the difference between OG and remake :face-savouring-delicious-food:
lol, I was reading comments being amazed they managed to somehow make it suitable for a console release, kinda makes me curious about that version tbh, but not enough to make me go and try to play it.

I've said it before, but most of the charms of the original artwork has been lost, somehow.

At least it'll still have the godlike Umemoto music. Although personally I think the PC-98 version is still the definitive version, or its closest alternative, the ELF Classics version with FM music patch.

This version has the original FM music as an option (going by the Vita version at least). Unfortunately, it seems to be sampled at 22kHz, but this might just be a cart space issue, as there exists a separate PC-9800 Version of the game on Vita, which has the FM music at 44kHz.

The original art was so much better. Like, goddamn could you make it any more plain and generic looking?
The original art is ageless. Just gorgeous PC88 style graphics. But still, I don't dislike the remake graphics. A toggle like Double Fine games had (Full Throttle Remastered etc) would have been perfect.

Yeah, honestly I looked at the new artwork again and it's fine. It's plain, but it's okay.

It's just definitely compared to those PC-98 graphics, which are probably my favorite era of visuals, it's hard to really hold a candle.

The environment shots looks clean like any modern-day VN. Looks like these are from PS4 build, though.

For some reason (not properly) animated mouths make it a bit creepy for me, like a fish out of water. I agree that new art is a bit generic, but the story is still the same, so it's not a big deal.

Anyone knows how to got the complete fan Patched version? With art and OST from Saturn version intact?

The only good thing about the Saturn version is the JP voiceovers. You should get either of the original PC-98 version or the ELF Classics version. If you're looking to play the game in English, the ELF Classics is the one you looking for. With the English translation patch, voice tracks from the Saturn version and the FM music patch.

Not sure where you can download everything you need to complete the set, but there are a few possible places where you can still get it.
