Did EA ever give out the free access month? Nothing on my end even though I had 2FA already.

Not that there's anything I want it for.

I think it was only for accounts that didn't have 2FA enabled before the announcement.

Now to hope for it to finally happen and appear on Steam. Though I'd probably break down and buy it on Origin if not.

And now I have the urge to play Skate 2 or 3 again soon. :face-with-cold-sweat:
Are they worth tracking a used PS3 copy? I liked the old Tony Hawk games, but never played any Skate.

They're a very different style of skateboarding game and can be difficult at first coming from Tony Hawk, but once you get used to using the right stick for tricks they are amazing games.

I will say if you liked the Tony Hawk games for their wackiness you're not going to find a whole lot of that in Skate, it has it's share of stuff but it's mostly toned down by comparison. The skateboarding also has a weightier, more realistic feel so you're not going to be pulling off 1080 Christ Airs with ease either.

All that said, it's not overly realistic and setting up skating lines is super easy. You're also able to move and place objects in the later games to create some really awesome trick spots on the fly.

So yeah, I'd say they're worth it for sure if you can find a good deal. I'm someone who loved both the Tony Hawk series and Skate and I think nowadays I much prefer the latter even with as great as some of the Tony Hawk games still hold up.

They did yes, I have it currently.
...Though I don't feel like playing anything on Origin atm.

Nothing on my end based on the website, I don't have the launcher to check if it is magically there.

I did not have 2FA activated prior to their offer, and I activated it for the free month, so even in the worst case scenario, I should have been eligible.

I cannot say that I am surprised that they messed up (there was no e-mail or proof that they took into account that I followed the steps to get the free content), and I don't care anyway: there is no EA game that I could have wanted.

If I try to cancel my Humble Monthly subscription, will Humble give $3 off coupon for the next Monthly? Or have they stopped with that now that they are changing to Choice

A mate is asking for some replacement suggestions for the GTX 780 in his PC I built in 2014. Currently pointing him towards the GTX 1660 range as something like an RTX 2070 is double the price and probably overkill. I used to recommend the GTX 1070 as a replacement in terms of upgrade vs price but Ray Tracing plus a shittier AUD makes the new RTX range a big eyebrow raiser to most people. Thoughts?

Which ver. of NFS Porsche Unleashed is the better one?
PC, if you mean platform.

The next one, Hot Pursuit 2, got very different versions for PC and consoles with the consoles being much better.

Ah, and done with NfS Heat, at least the story. Still enjoyed the FMV goofiness of NfS 2015 better but was alright. Major complaint about the gameplay is the AI, first up I recommend playing on hard from the beginning to not make it too easy. But there are almost always one or two cars which are superfast while the rest of the pack immediately falls back, so you don't really fight your way to the front, just keep up with that one car and overtake eventually. GRID 2019 has a similar problem. And then there are the cops, the day/night system which gives different races and rewards (day: money, night: xp) is cool but once you reach Heat lvl 3-5 it become close to impossible to lose the police. NfS Most Wanted 2005 gave the player lots of tools like pursuit breakers and slowmo but here.... no idea how you're supposed to escape. So racing AI and cops need serious finetuning.

Everything else is fine and overall better than Payback, I disagree with some reviews saying you have to grind, not the case for normal story progression and there are enough events to not having to repeat the same ones, I just wish there was more variety, it's basically normal racing, drifting and off-road but there aren't many of those. I could go on longer, lots of little things I like/hate (e.g. the soundtrack goes from annoying latin-style music which if fucking hate in general to some cool tracks at night) but doubt anyone cares. I'd be more harsh if there were any alternatives in the genre other than Forza Horizon but the way things are this is a solid recommendation and one of the better NfS' of this decade.

The prices for Activisions older games like Space Quest Collection and Zork games are still too high. Damn it, Acti.

GTX 1660 Ti should be comparable to a GTX 1070 in most games I guess.
Above the 1660 Ti there's also the RTX 2060 and RTX 2060 Super.
The 2060 Super is pretty close to the original RTX 2070's performance (the non-super version).

Meh, you could play with vorpx with tons of games like that, without handtracking it's not interesting. Hopefully they add that, the deprecated old mod had it.

Sure, but the fact that it's even possible is pretty cool to me. Just like Alien Isolation.

No free Origin Access for me despite having 2FA activated for years :(
Probably because I haven't logged in for months.

Same for me. I had 2fa already on since this July and I am still waiting for my free EA Access code. What's going on?

I subbed to Premier and then activated 2FA on october 31st. Nothing yet.

However, with all the positive buzz around Fallen Order on Reddit, I consider getting the game on Steam, but the lack of achievements keeps me from doing it right now.

Will get it down the line anyways on Steam.

I loved how arcadey the first TH games felt, but I'm willing to give this a chance. Thanks for the opinions!

Finished Warhammer Chaosbane on Origin Premier. Been close to buying it on Steam sale many times and glad I didn't. What an extremely meh game. I used Cheat Engine to get quickly through it. Absolutely nothing special about it, but just enjoyable enough to cheat myself through it.

Thinking of it, cheat engine, trainers and mods will definetly help getting through Death Stranding.

I have 0 urge to launch Just Cause 4. I did some of the tutorial at least.

Back to Euro Truck Sim in VR.
Just Cause 4 is the most mediocre turd I have played this year. Like, I did the tutorial and the mission after that and I have absolutely no interest in playing it more. The only reason Im kinda pushing myself to playing it more is because of the free weekend.

Off the wishlist it went.

Thanks for the input. I'll recommend the GTX 1660 Ti and the RTX 2060 which are around $500 and $750 AUD respectively down here and leave it up to my buddy on how much he wants to spend.

A 2070 at just shy of $1000 is probably overkill for an almost 6 year old machine. Would be more suited for an entirely new build.

2080 is like $1500 and a 2080 Ti is two grand easy. Good fucking grief.

I finished Usurper, the second game in the Skautfold series, just now. It's legit really good.

Usurper is set after the events of its predecessor Shrouded in Sanity, but unlike that game it is a Metroidvania at heart. There's a cool eldritch world to explore and you get many fun new traversal options over the course of the game. There is only one-way fast-travel/teleport back to the hub at certain locations, but the map is designed with the unlockable powers in mind as well as unlockable shortcuts, so getting to where you want never feels like a chore.

It still retains some soul-like elements - you lose your Vitae (the currency) on death and have to go back to reclaim them, but it's quite forgiving thanks to the enemy attacks having quite generous tells and the really cool "Guard System", which you could call the USP of the combat.

Basically it's like this. Enemies hit HARD. But you're not supposed to get hit. In addition to your health bar, you have a Guard bar as well. This bar is essentially your Stamina bar that gets used for attacks, dodges and blocks but has this neat feature of auto-dodging if it's high enough. It's probably a bit hard to convey, but works really well in practive. So if you're cautious enough the game is pretty forgiving most of the time, but it does absolutely get challenging, especially towards the end. It never feels like your losing undeservedly though, the game is very fair and the controls are tight.

There's also a bunch of different stats to level and lots of weapons to find and some spells to learn that allow for different character builds. You can also always respec for free to experiment. And you can have a mini grim reaper as a pet (among others).

Very recommended.

Gonna start the 3rd game, Into the Fray, now and I'm expecing that one to be good as well. This dev is definitely on my watch-list now.

So I just quit Hellblade, and I feel like venting about it a bit.

On the onset, I was really fascinated by what this game attempted to do, which is focus on a protagonist with psychological issues. The setting itself is also really interesting, deeply mired in Norse mythology, though Senua and her tribe themselves aren't Norse.

I love the presentation of this game, especially the sound, you always hear a cacaphony of voices representing Senuas inner conflict. It's playing a lot with various optical effects, and often overdoing things quite a bit, I felt.

But the worse element, to me, is how this game is obsesses with being cinematic. The entire game is set, "filmed" you might mockingly think, in a close-up on Sensua, just over her right shoulder. It's much closer than even the classic RE4 perspective, and in my opinion wholly in appropriate for action scenes, though this is mitigated luckily by the camera pulling back a little bit for those. The tank controls are a mess, though, and led me to quickly set the combat settings to easy, no way was I gonna bother with that.

What really killed the game for me, though, was a scene where I needed to find three runes, while locked in a room which was being taken over by fire. After the fourth time Senua somehow collapsed, and I had to redo it, I decided not to bother anymore.
It makes for a nice interactive movie, but not a great game, exactly.

Still, it's a very beautiful game, so I can't complain too much.
Loved its photomode a lot, too. Probably the most enjoyable part of Hellblade.

to be fair, the tutorial and the mission after that are absolute garbage. It does get better after that when you can start using wingsuit and actual tools.

Running Cold Fear at resolutions above the ones it supports natively is a bit of work but it's worth it.

Started Trails of Azure, fortunately the translation is indeed much better than Zero's, it's almost professional level.
