I'm buying a ridiculous amount of point and click adventures games, FMV games, indie RPGs, and beat'em ups, and Steam is suggesting me... jigsaw puzzle games.
Whatever algoraithm Volvo's using it is borked. This is almost Youtu8be recommendation levels of absurdity.
Heck I think the reason I got 4 free games in my ques yesterday was for the little time I spent playing a free game.

The recommendations you get by scrolling down the main page seem very solid. My discovery queue is fine but I have Visual Novel excluded and adult content blocked so my experience might not mean much for the regular queues.

The only other thing that annoys me about the “puzzle” games that come up in the queue is that I’m fairly sure 90% of them shouldn’t even be on the store because they’re using stolen or traced art.

If someone wants to make some genuine sexy puzzle games, whatever, but selling other people’s art is so scummy.
Problem is people actually buy those. There's so much Valve can do about those, they're not going to know about every art and (afaik) they can't even takedown without notice from author (ie. DMCA claim) without losing safe harbor protection.

So best we can do is not buy and try to get those author make claims.

The art style of Camp W has my preference.
Yeah, that's what originally picked my interest in the game.
That, and from the screenshots Tizoc posted in his Steam Activity page, the game includes plenty of movie references (for example, to David Cronenberg's Scanners, among others).

All of them.
Because they get my seal of approval.
My poor wallet.
But, you're right, that's probably what I'll end up doing. :p
I bought Unforeseen Incidents and Lamplight City from WinGameStore (since it ended up slightly cheaper, and adds some points to my account for future discounts), and Camp W from Steam.
All that's left is Detective Gallo, which I'll probably buy before the sale ends. ;)

O great... more interesting games that I have to try to avoid buying before the sale ends. At least they appear to have decent regional price for my region unlike Valkyria Chronicles 4 that I also am trying *really* hard not to buy.

Derrick01 is now exclusive to MC ;)
Well... that's one way to look at it, hehehe.

I don't always agree with Derrick01 's point of view (A recent example is his DQ XI LTTP thread) but I think ERA (or any forum), in general, need more posters like him because being critical about certain games (even when it's framed in a negative light) can make a good discussion without any of the associated baggage when a long time fan of the series makes the thread.

As much as I love the DQ series, and XI stands as one of my favourite entries, there are a few issues with it that I feel could be improved in future games.

EDIT: OK, I just saw the reason for the ban ... and the reasoning is very thin, at best. I don't think to excuse the harassment is Derrick's intent at all.

I think I might start posting here more than once in a blue moon.
I'm wondering if I should get World of Final Fantasy... I think I'd like a more modern Pokemon-like that isn't so hand-holding as Sun and Moon, and I know I like good turn-based RPGs based on my time with Dragon Quest XI. Though Final Fantasy X showed me they aren't all that great. :p

please do! :D

At the very least Derrick won't receive nearly as much reactionary stupidity here. This is place is chill even when people disagree.
really glad to hear it!

World of Final Fantasy is really fun! It is a bit hand-holdy in the beginning though, sometimes to an annoying degree.

I love the look of it, and it's easy to max out at 4K, room for downsampling too. If I remember right there is a 30FPS lock though.

It wasn't my intent and everyone who saw the comment knew that too. Let's be real, they wanted to get rid of me and saw (what they felt was) an opening to do it. It was a really lazy effort though. Even gaf tried harder to find a justifiable reason to perm me.

Also I'm enjoying DQ a bit more since I got to the casino. I need someone to pull me away from that den of sin :p

Derrick01, I look forward to seeing more of you here.
just wait until he starts posting his nudes ;)

Valkyria Chronicles 4 is really good though.
too bad SEGA is trying their hardest to fuck up that release even after the fact (with DLC delays for no reason)

regional pricing on that game is also beyond awful for most countries

I just finished Return of the Obra Dinn after about 10 hours and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys mystery/murder stories and likes piecing together information to solve narrative puzzles. A few of the fates I had to look up near the end after being stuck for a couple hours. It's a good thing I did, because I don't know if I ever would have figured those ones out. The game is full of interesting twists and turns and it just crept into my top 10 games of 2018.

I want it, but I’ll wait for the next sale. 🤗

VC4 is next on my list after playing thought Pillars 2 with all the DLC now that that's all done with. I loved VC1 (double dipped it on PS3 and PC even), and 4 looks good as hell.

If you loved VC1 there's basically no way you won't like VC4. At least I can't think of any.
I have it on my radar as the next purchase as well, It was a good candidate before the sales but I pushed it back on my list many times :D Poor VC4! :p

If it's on sale for less than 25€, I will pull the trigger sooner rather than later.

Lol, that's the post that got Derrick permabanned?

Unless you're an actual investigative reporter like Schreier, what are you expecting to get from leaking game info? Internet clout? Even actual investigative reporters like him get shit when he's correct about stuff, simply because they don't like the news he shares.

Like what good could ever come from engaging people with leaks (mixed with personal speculation), who are sitting in threads freaking out about domain registrations?

I've heard it was easy, which I don't mind. What I didn't like about Pokemon Moon was how it regularly stopped you and forced you down places. There was basically no freedom or room to explore.

Valkyria Chronicles 4 is really good though.
Ehhh... I couldn't jive with VC1. It just felt like there's some right way of doing things that my brain just can't do. Which is how I feel with lots of strategy games. It's good for the kind of person that likes strategy.

I can’t get enough of the Behemoth fight, really wish someone could pull of an Action-based MMO well. Could do so many interesting things with boss mechanics.

After this, probably to Obra Dinn and Kenshi.

I'm experiencing a weird issue on Steam.
I can't use my credit card to add funds to my wallet. I get a weird error message telling me to contact Steam support (which I did, hopefully I'll hear from them soon).

It's very weird:
-I can use that same saved credit card to buy games on Steam with no problems;
-I can use Paypal (using that same credit card) to add funds to my Steam wallet with no problems as well;
-but, when I use the same saved credit card to add funds to my wallet, I get an error.

At first, I thought it was a temporary issue, since Steam keeps having them during this sale, but it's been 2 days, and I'm still experiencing the same problem.

Has anyone experienced a similar error?

Finished Call of Duty: Black Ops II. Short campaigns are the par for CoD stories but BLOPSII still managed to surprise with its brevity.
The real kicker, it still felt like a slog.

Not sure where to put my finger but story, writing, characters, missions structure, abysmal cutscenes, gunplay and feedback were trash. The whole package is dumb and not in an entertaining way. I must have had some rose-tinted glasses about Modern Warfare 2. Legit loved that campaign.

Yeah, I think I can put my finger on it.

Didn't have much fun with it and it has the dubious honor of being my most regretted expensive purchase at 15€. At least I won't be ever thinking of it.

Isn't Black Desert Online an action mmo? I dunno for sure since I don't play it or mmos in general, but I heard it was good.

Now that you mention.... I think one time (this year) I did have something similar. It did fix itself but my next transaction was weeks later so I don't know how much time it took. They probably have additional "security" checks for wallet money because of VPNs and people using to buy from other regions.

All these fancy functions :) .... but for some reason this forum won't let me view any user profile page....
