Now that we are approaching the end of the Winter
Seal Sale, any last minute suggestions?
Allow me to post 3 games that are, in my opinion, worth a look:
The Darkside Detective:
The Darkside Detective is a fun point and click adventure game, whose simplicity (and short case length) should appeal even to those who might not have the patience to play most entries in the genre.
It features fun characters, writing, and a great synth-based score. It's like a more or less comedic X-Files/Twin Peaks, if the main character's sidekick was a complete, but lovable moron.
There's a small demo available on Steam, if you want a sample of what the game offers.
Overload:
For years, people kept asking for a return of the Descent series, and for another proper 6DoF game, and with Overload, we got just that. A proper Descent game in everything but the name, done by the original creative team (and founders of Parallax Software, Volition, among others), the game does a great job updating the series with modern production values.
The game has map making tools available, and the community has already made some awesome maps.
There's a demo available on Steam, for those who wish to try it out.
Sadly, many people still seem unaware of the game, due to the lack of the Descent brand. Don't sleep on this game, guys, it's well worth it!
Halfway:
Halfway is an indie, synth-scored, pixel art 2D game heavily inspired by the X-Com series. The turn-based combat in a lot of fun, the story is engaging, and the soundtrack is very catchy.
It's a 12-14 hour game that is worth your time, especially if you like the genre.
