And competition is that Steam offers better service and thus you probably should choose Steam unless you're forced to, which I guess won't happen with these backlogs.
yeah ... i doubt anyone in here has less than 200-300 games on steam :p

Yeah, so we get higher price, less platform support, pretty much no features and less choice. XD
dunno about you, but i'm sold!

I'm in a mood
I had 8 items in my steam cart and today they've gone and i honestly can't remember what most of them were as they were interesting titles i'd added while browsing. Grrrrr.

That's at least £8.50 you'll not be getting from me today, Gabe!
yeah, happens way too often :( it's supposed to be around for a week, i believe ... but sometimes it just craps out

Yup never trust Steam cart. Epic technically solved this by having no cart at all, so it's perfect ;).

This might help recover it:

Steam Help
having a cart is anti-developer, don't you know?

I hate when that happens. I was adding games to my cart on my phone; I jump to my computer and my cart is empty. C’mon, Gabe! That should be doable, yo!

Well Just Cause 4 is unplayable most of the time for me. Lots of crashes that force me to replay missions over and over. I'm shelving it until they patch it. Is Just Cause 3 good? I'm thinking about buying it.

Now that we are approaching the end of the Winter Seal Sale, any last minute suggestions?

Allow me to post 3 games that are, in my opinion, worth a look:

The Darkside Detective:

The Darkside Detective is a fun point and click adventure game, whose simplicity (and short case length) should appeal even to those who might not have the patience to play most entries in the genre.
It features fun characters, writing, and a great synth-based score. It's like a more or less comedic X-Files/Twin Peaks, if the main character's sidekick was a complete, but lovable moron. :)
There's a small demo available on Steam, if you want a sample of what the game offers.

Overload:

For years, people kept asking for a return of the Descent series, and for another proper 6DoF game, and with Overload, we got just that. A proper Descent game in everything but the name, done by the original creative team (and founders of Parallax Software, Volition, among others), the game does a great job updating the series with modern production values.
The game has map making tools available, and the community has already made some awesome maps.
There's a demo available on Steam, for those who wish to try it out.
Sadly, many people still seem unaware of the game, due to the lack of the Descent brand. Don't sleep on this game, guys, it's well worth it!

Halfway:

Halfway is an indie, synth-scored, pixel art 2D game heavily inspired by the X-Com series. The turn-based combat in a lot of fun, the story is engaging, and the soundtrack is very catchy.
It's a 12-14 hour game that is worth your time, especially if you like the genre.

I have a bandaid for that issue. It's called notepad.exe
I have my 59 cart items saved in my txt on my desktop because I know Steam will lose it at some point during the sale, just like it did yesterday.

Wow the Discovery Que wsa very good for me today; it showed me 3-4 free games which I decided to download-
Mercury Blue
Return
The Navigator
The Adventures of Nick and Williams

Gonna give them a spin over the next month if I can. Next week the sale ends so I'll grab Desert Child+Gris at least.

Here are some games you should be ashamed of not having in your library after this sale:
I believe CSD! was in a Humble Bundle back in like 2014-15, so also check if you have the key unredeemed by some chance. I happened across an unused key from a bundle purchase myself last year and really enjoyed it.

Defender's Quest is super rad as well. Can't wait for the sequel.

Somehow I missed the remastered Ty 3 finally got its Steam release.

I’ve been meaning to play all of them again, but I have a feeling it’ll ruin my pristine childhood memory

10 hours later, I'm still liking Star Ocean 4.
Going for 100% looks to be immensely grindy though, and probably requires a guide, because some of the "side-content" is not only just busywork, it's also has arbitrary cut-off times that are in no way apparent at all.
Thankfully that stuff doesn't seem worth the time anyway, so I'll be content just going through the main story and doing some of the non-annoying side-stuff.

Perhaps it's also time to start Romancing SaGa 2.

Technically he is asking for a MetaSteam steam group. Might be little too niche.
well, i mean ... why would you have a STEAM group that's not just for the entire forum? like, who else is going to join that? PS4/Xbone people? :p

Well that group would be for this OT only while the one that we have now is for the whole forum. One day we might have posters who are active on the forum but never posts here. :D

probably not any time soon :p

either way - if someone wants to make an official group just for the steam threads - go right ahead :p it's everyone's forum after all
