Didn't have much fun with it and it has the dubious honor of being my most regretted expensive purchase at 15€. At least I won't be ever thinking of it.
First, good to know about the game since I always keep looking at those call of duty on discount thinking about buying just to play the campaign.

Second, yeah, just don't think about it. I know I don't, after all, I bought Mass Effect Andromeda at launch....

stop being a junior then :p
300 posts? Yeah.... it's going to take my lurker ass a looooooooooong time to get there :)

LMAO, did the person saying that at least get banned? Can't even imagine what the thread context for that would be.
I responded in a thread about 4K monitors. I simply gave my opinion that 1440P is perfect for me. I didn’t answer the OP’s question. After being told that I didn’t answer the question by Lashley, I said “K.” I get frustrated by the thread correcting by so many people. I was then called and attention whore with an attitude by another poster. I send Lashley an apology. Era is just very rough, yet it preaches so much acceptance.

Going into a question thread and not answering the question usually isn't helpful for sure. But calling someone an "attention whore with an attitude" is about a mile and a half beyond what a slightly off-topic question deserves. lmao.

Er, I disagree. Well, not really because it is indeed unhelpful under the strictest definition of the word, but Era is a discussion forum, not a tech support site. Even if the OP features a question, I think it's totally fine to answer with one's opinion or experiences in the matter. To me, that's infinitely more interesting than reading a bunch of "This isn't helpful" posts.

Did u use a cheat engine go turn on strong enemies? Cuz slayer of the sand is brutal even if ur at a decent level.
I think at that point I still had the draconian mode for tougher enemies on but I turned it off not long after that.

This is going to sound weird but I think I'm having a little more fun with it off even though it's stupidly easy now. I think it's because I don't like the combat system at all so now I can breeze through every fight and not get irritated by it.

Sure, a given website may be a discussion forum in general, but I don't think every thread is necessarily meant as a discussion. People use traditional forums for quick diagnostics all the time.

Like if I create a thread here or on Steam or Reddit or wherever saying or "Does anyone know when the next FFXIV expansion is slated to release?" I'm not looking for someone to respond about how they don't really care for FFXIV or to debate the merits of what's supposed to be in the expansion. I'm just asking for a date or timeline. Same with tech support questions, they're not usually meant for discussions, they're just someone asking a question with what should theoretically result in a few quick answers.

The problem is more of a basic issue with many forums not having enough ongoing topics about hardware releases, bugs, tech issues, etc. for people to ask basic questions, resulting in meaningless, continual thread creation that probably doesn't actually warrant a thread for something that could either be Googled or in a megathread.

Still, like I said, tech question or not, calling someone an attention whore is unnecessary, and everyone dog-piling (which I assume they did, because people always do) and derailing further by trying to tell someone how off-topic and horrible they are is infinitely more annoying than any one mildly off-topic reply.

Trails in the Sky. Easy answer.

To be fair it's also the answer to what is a good JRPG in general but it still fits here.

Huh i liked the harder enemies and the turn based system adds a decent layer od strategy with boss fights. Buffing and debuffing is something i lile in these kind of games.

Dragon quest 11 or final fantasy 12 i guess.
Grandia 2 is a neat mix of turn based and real time combat system thst allows for repositioning to avoid enemy attcks or canceling them out.

Read a lot of posts saying that one of the worst things in DQXI is the music. Just curious, what exactly is wrong with it?

It's weird but true.
Personally I started enjoying the combat way more once I just put everyone (including the MC) on Auto and just watched the battles playing themselves.
Same as you, I don't really like it, so not bothering with it (except boss fights) and just watching some pretty animations was more enjoyable.

So, what are some good turn-based jRPGs for someone whose last jRPG was Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy 8?
Trails in the Sky!
It also features one of the, if not the, best female JRPG protagonist.
And once you're done with the trilogy and the Trails series has their claws into you, you can move onto Trails of Cold Steel and appreciate Durante showing the world how a good port is supposed to look like.

Read a lot of posts saying that one of the worst things in DQXI is the music. Just curious, what exactly is wrong with it?
By default it's Midi(!) quality.
With the mod on PC you get the songs in their orchestral form, which makes things at least tolerable.
But the actual compositions aren't exactly good either, and the game, while having a theorethically pretty big soundtrack, reuses the same damn tracks again and again and again and again to the point where it feels like you hear the same 3 songs the entire time. (It's a 80-100 hour game).
It's without a doubt the JRPG with the worst music I've played recently, if not the one with the worst music I've ever played.
Having finished it despite that shows that there's enough other things to like in it, but man if this game doesn't leave me with mixed feelings.

Funnily enough, I'm currently playing FF XII hot off the heels of DQ XI. It's pretty good so far. The gambit system feels like a cut-down version of Infinity Engine AI script, or maybe closer to Sword Coast Stratagems mod.

The story was interesting enough to start with and Rabanastre as a starting city feels lived in, although not every NPC has unique lines. From the cast of characters, I like Balthier the most. He is one dandy dude.

The game looks good most of the times, but I'm not sure what to make of the environment textures. It's in a weird place between "sharp" and "PS2 native bilinear filtering".

I also found this interesting mod: Drahsid/FFXIITZA-FPS-Unlocker

Currently, the mod didn't decouple the animation speed with framerate, so it's essentially behaving like a turbo mode if it's running above 60fps. Luckily, the mod has the ability to clamp the cutscenes and menu to 60fps by editing an .ini file. There's a FOV unlocker as well, which is a godsend!

well the good news is - in here people can mark the thread they create as a question (there is a checkbox for it) ... so then people taking part in the thread can upvote/downvote each answer(post) ... and then people who are genuinely only interested in actual answers - can sort the posts by votes, not by time :) so hey - best of both worlds! :)

for example: Q&A - I am now a "proud" owner of Vive so what are your choice picks for VR goodness. :)

I'm experiencing a weird issue on Steam.
I can't use my credit card to add funds to my wallet. I get a weird error message telling me to contact Steam support (which I did, hopefully I'll hear from them soon).

It's very weird:
-I can use that same saved credit card to buy games on Steam with no problems;
-I can use Paypal (using that same credit card) to add funds to my Steam wallet with no problems as well;
-but, when I use the same saved credit card to add funds to my wallet, I get an error.

At first, I thought it was a temporary issue, since Steam keeps having them during this sale, but it's been 2 days, and I'm still experiencing the same problem.

Has anyone experienced a similar error?
It seems they had some problems with the items and wallet server yesterday. I tried to buy 2 packs for Artifact with Paypal and I got several errors during payment. Maybe it has something to do with that.

Apart from the ones that have already been mentioned, Shin megami Tensei 3 if you're willing to use an emulator.

Trails in the Sky trilogy no doubt, a bit of a time investment but totally worth every minute of it.

you have to be OK with reading in games quite a bit, though.

also if you want something different, with lots of crafting and time management, I suggest Arland trilogy: Atelier Rorona, Totori and Meruru. These games are not for everyone though, you really should like complex crafting systems to enjoy it.

with little time investment: Cosmic Star Heroine, a nice battle system, good difficulty setting that can satisfy everybody, close to no filler at all.

I have the "massively multiplayer" tag filtered out. The only MMO I've ever put any serious hours into is...

K, I'm calling it now for the year, 67 games completed ^.^

And yet my backlog is up from this time last year!!
The Steam Curse™ ... it's like the hydra - for each game you finish there are 2 more waiting for you in your backlog :p

Most of the ones on Steam seem to be F2P with too many micro transactions so can’t blame you. The MMO genre also isn’t in the best state, for better and for worse, WoW dictated the direction.

Save me Pantheon...

I keep meaning to get back into it but i've been away for years. I have a pile of codes in my inventory i need to apply. I also had the Lifetime Subscriber from the deal they did before launch so i think i've got neat flairs and stuff waiting too.

Previously i was too random in my playtime for an MMO to stick but i'm trying to be more focussed this year so i may dive back in with the intention of playing often.

I get what you mean, but an organic discussion forming from a question thread seems fine to me. Of course, the most important thing is to make sure OP's doubts addressed, but you can only have so many "The game will release on X day" before it gets stale. And sometimes people want to talk about something related but don't feel like opening a thread just for that, so instead of letting the question thread die, they can foster some conversation and stuff.
