I welcome the story, because it will make it all the sweeter when these angels and demons eat shotgun shells~

Always good to see a new Lalafell join the cause!
Lalafell mafia :dmcblob:

Speaking of FFXIV, i went back to it a week or so ago, and finally finished Stormblood, did all post Stormblood, and finished Shadowbringers. It was pretty good, better expansion that Stormblood for sure, but i'm not sure that i like it better then Heavensward.

Bonus picture of my lalafell with the cutie Tataru.

Bonus Bonus picture: who needs Iceborne ?

Reading some goty lists in here, I'm starting to realize I'm the only one that played Slay the Spire...
I played it but was less impressed than many I guess. I feel like it leans way, way too hard on RNG and there aren't very many meaningful choices per run, which is the opposite of what I want in a deck builder. Neoverse is a waifu-looking knockoff but I actually think it's designed better mechanically to make it a better deckbuilder. I could list out all the issues I have with Slay but yea, too much RNG sums it up.

My (extremely subjective) list

And the hottest of takes
Turd of the year
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night

Sorry. I absolutely hated my time with it.
I'm with you. It is an almost good-to-great game ruined by a few things. My time was pretty boring and frustrating and I pretty much had to cheat to find some fun in the later part of the game to finish it out, This is coming from someone who has played some janky-ass Metroidvanias in the quest for more good ones too.

I'm working on my GOTY / GOTD list now. GOTD is fucking impossible, my shortlist is like 20 so far, and there are games I haven't played yet that would even be on there. I mean, it's a good thing for everyone there's so many insanely top quality games, but it makes picking a nightmare :ripblob:

Atelier Sale (Ryza is 30% off):

KT is weird especially when it comes to how they do stuff on Steam. An example of this is DOAEV, the game is region locked (I have it anyway) and yet it gets constant updates the the Steam what's new thing.

In the case of things like Ryza they did do some post release patches right away.

I'm told their ports are okay, at best.

They do not update their artwork, I have both the SnK games and they do not have new art (I don't think I will get the Final Battle DLC).

Anyway they should release the DOA OST, both the main games and the spin offs have some good music.

Oh and about the OST thing, I think there has only been one game that I have seen on Steam that is using the new system? Since it even tells you stuff like "disc 1/disc 2" in the description but unlike a lot of other games in the description of this game that information was a toggled and it was not just plain text.

Valve will likely be updating some more stuff as well, OST also seem to have a section similar to games that tell you if this OST is relevant to you, and in that section it still mentions movies (Steam still does sell movies but they wanted to move away from that or at least they wanted to stop selling movies that were not related to video games, since some games do have movie bundles, RIP Steam video app)

Will people being able to buy OST lead to more people buying the game? Hey this game has a similar OST to this other game (same composer) maybe you will like this game as well.

I did one run and my biggest issue is that it's just... so... damn... slow. I think the concept is something I might really enjoy but the execution is lacking.

I gotta say, in one way, it's sad because I always liked their press conferences and it was part of the fun around E3 time, on another hand, they could easily just make their own event and stream it, might cost less and due to no ESA around it might give them more freedom to do things the way they want.

Still, the last bunch of showcases (state of play and press conferences) have been weak from Sony imo.
I don't think they'll do their own thing during E3. They would have said it otherwise. In fact Sony hasn't announced new events in forever now. Only announcements they've been doing for the past couple of years is the announcements that are cancelling/no show events.

They'll just do a PS5 blowout event b4 or after E3. I don't expect much else from their new leadership. They've been acting really shitty and complacent the 2nd half of the gen. Imagine being a Sony exec now looking back at their 2013 E3 and saying...we should "not" do that this year with new console launch. Or looking at their 2015/2016 E3 conferences and not wanting to do something like that again. Its just a selfish approach that makes them look like a company that got theirs and now that they are in 1st place they don't give a shit. We'll see how their plans turn out but their behavior from the past 2 years and their service offerings have made me very little excited for the PS5.

Well feel like sharing my GOTY picks:

Disco Elysium
Resident Evil 2
AI: The Somnium Files
A Plague Tale: Innocence
Vampire the Masquerade: Coteries of New York

And my GOTD pick is Prey (I'm not bothering with more than one pick it's too much effort =/)

Durante Such a pity you didn't manage to get the Atelier PC porting gig, the ports are absurdly made.
Just tried Atelier Ayesha. Framebuffer resolution goes only up to 1080p, absolutely no antialiasing, and no mip-maps for the textures. This results in a shimmering, aliased hell. :negative-blob:
Plus stutter (up to 40ms :blobxorcism: ) each time a new textbox appears on the screen (shader compilation?)

Also this:

when compared to a bloody Switch version

I want my shadows, goddamnit

Thinking about my GOTY 2019 picks and most of the games i played this year came out last year or the years before... :kd_senkothink:

But i think i found my top 5. Bad news, there's only 2 anime games :face-with-cold-sweat: . Good news, they are #1 and #2 :coffee-blob:

Well that's nice. So about 6 days ago I tried the MSI Monster Hunter World Iceborn promotion:

But my parents bought me the MSI monitor a bunch of days before the promotion eligity started, but I tried and sendt in the receipe and monitor barcode anyway.

And it worked.

Downloading Iceborne now on Steam. Have barely played the game, but looking forward to starting again.

Various prominent game devs have said things in the past that nowadays don't necessarily hold up.
Besides PnC games/graphic adventure games thrived on their stories and it is part of the reason we play them still, simple they may be or otherwise.

Javetus Depends if you like timers or not. Some have strict time limits where you have to achieve things by certain dates and others have soft time limits where the small jobs you do need to be done in a few days but the overall story doesn't care how long you take.

I prefer the latter as otherwise i feel stressed and rush things.

Time to fill out the bug report form once again, :02dead:
Ok so what Atelier games do you guys recommend?
Atelier Sophie is a good starting point. No time limit and the alchemy mechanics are pretty good. The subsequent games have minor iteration from the same system, but I recommend starting from Sophie.

My friend bought a qualified motherboard a week prior and just got a “no result” thing under product rewards so that sucks

Yikes at that Atelier screenshot!

...I already own the trilogy on Vita, so I'll just play them there.

Eventually.

When I get to it.

I may have just spent a ton booking for Combo Breaker, but you know I'll always be there day one to support my anime

Enjoy three broken ports, each one in it's own way.

Don't worry, if Ryza's anything to go by, they'll patch it a month or two from now.
1080p@144 Hz with SMAA injected or sub-540p@sub20fps with no AA.

Hopefully lash's efforts to convert the anime folk here will become more and more effective as the year goes, I can't wait for all of you to be freed from the shackles of anime :coffee-blob:
It's alright, puppets are superior anyway.
