Jason "fight for your worker rights! but don't inconvenience your employer or us gamers!" Schreier
Jason "Fight for worker rights! But not on Bloomberg, though!" Schreier
Leaking the game is not the way to handle the situation.
Accusing Schreier of being partial to Sony for having that opinion is ridiculous.
How is he even fighting for his rights by doing this? Dude is going to be in deep shit.
Should've just gone public with whatever happened to him to expose the problem and the people behind it. A lot of his colleagues are very hurt by this, it's just not cool.

Because this was a ‘heat of the moment’ kind of thing. The leaker wasn’t thinking rationally.
Anyway, I find it very hypocritical that people are saying ‘oh no the dude threw under the bus all of their coworkers’ when ND does that on a daily basis.

I feel bad for ND and the leaker. ND for getting part of their work leaked so long before release and the leaker because whoever it is can't have been in a nice place for whatever caused the person to do leak it.

In Nier G when you are doing ending C, at the very beginning when it is talking about Kaine's memories is it all the same from route B or is there some new additional stuff? Since i am not sure i want to go through all of that text again if there is nothing new

What did Jason do?

Also why do we want a Sengoku period Assassin's Creed when we could get a Meji era Assassin's Creed (and yes I do not know my Japanese time periods, gomenasai)

I mean wouldn't the "idea" of a game taking place during yeh final days of the "samurai" and all of that fit more in line with Assassin's Creed? Because as weird as as disjointed as the games are they still have the assassin's and the Templar factions and how the Templars want to take control by some weird means (I have not really played as Assassin's Creed game in a long time to completion so I sort of forget what they were about but then again I feel like most people and even Ubisoft have forgotten what they are about?)

These individuals make some pretty good points. And how did all of that work out for Kotaku in the end? Aside from Jason what else did they have? By which I mean that Kotaku is just not that well like in general and all of that and what ever "respectable" piece of news that came from Kotaku (investigate reporting, since all anyone else seems to do is just say the same stuff over and in some cases they don't investigate further into some matter before publishing an article, which has gotten Kotaku in trouble multiple times in the past).

So what is the "end game" for gaming journalist? Is it what Jason is going to be doing at Bloomberg or what ever? Do they all just want to work at a big news network? Since that is the issue that people have with gaming journalist and it feels like if a lot of them where given the opportunity to stop reporting on video game stuff and were then asked if they wanted to say do something else for a major news site (so covering anything that is not video games) it does feel like some of them would take that opportunity in a heart beat.

So with that end game in mind, Jason had a lot of bad "takes" but he did at least do some investigate work and stuff like that, which seems to be something that a lot of journalist (even in major news networks don't seem to do properly), so how will it turn out for others hoping to do something similar to him.

Summer's End is like cropping the main artwork and add a couple of ribbons and texts in Canva.

At least the Blind Prophet has some styling in the font, though the problem is the bad choice for the background.

Here's another bad example:

The blind prophet one does not stand out, black on red for the text is not bad but you can't really see the dude in the picture.

Summers End looks decent,

The bottom two do stand out.

That wasteland 3 ones does look rather bland.

The Troubleshooter games stands out because it's yellow on black and you can see a characters face.

Also that Trails of Mana one though...... It's just the name on black. Or actually why does that game have two capsules? One of them looks better, but it also looks "busy" as well

Spoiler culture is ridiculous anyway. Millions will buy the game regardless, and another bunch will buy it to support that poor multimillion dollar company.
The house always wins
In truth, once you move out of the bubbles, most people won't even know that there was a leak. And for a game that it's most likely going to sell at least a few million copies it just doesn't matter.

Because telling people to Unionize is as useful and successful as telling a consumer to silently vote with their wallet if they are disappointed with a product or the direction of a company. Just don't be angry, don't take it to social media, don't organize boycotts, don't leave bad reviews, etc.

Million and billion Dollar companies only change if they are hurt where it counts. You can be against this type of "protest" but still point out that it is Naughty Dog's own fault for their awful work culture and how they treat their employees.

And don't get me started on Bloomberg and how they even tried to silence the wife of one of their reporters because he wanted to do a critical piece on China.

When faced with the fragmentation of modern games, I tend to choose the easy way out : the base game is the experience, the rest is just fluff. Saves me a lot of headaches.
I'm no role model, I often buy DLC, but the little bits and bobs ? They can shove it for all I care.
This is a good piece of advice. Personally. I'll probably find it hard to follow most of the time, but it's good to keep in mind. Especially when the inevitable happens and you do end up missing out on those little bits and bobs here and there no matter how hard you try to avoid it. FOMO is so real 😅

Yesterday I had the most intense battle on Daemon x Machina, the reason? not because the enemies were specially stronger or difficult, but the lack of Ammo.

At certain point I was fighting with 2 swords lol

Seriously, it's nuts this game, once your mecha is upgraded, it's a beast.

Unionization is a systemic answer but not an individual one.
Unions are GREAT and FANTASTIC for workers rights, and the most consistent way of pushing those for the conflict between the employers and the employees.

A union however, does not always have the ability to solve every individuals unique issue with their employer, and this is doubly so true when a union doesn't even exist yet and would have to be founded first.

The employee can't just unionize by himself, He would need his coworkers for that as well, and who even knows if the leaker tried or not.
And even then it would be a long process.

I wouldn't say that deliberately hurting your employer like that is in any way a smart thing to do though.

This is, of course, assuming that the rumor about it being an employees retaliation is even true, which there was no particular source for as of yesterday to my knowledge.

TL;DR JSchreier is a narcissist who can't take disagreement, more news at 8

P.S. Spoiler culture is trash and if less people will buy the game because they can read the plot online, then your game was never deserving of their purchase to begin with.

Random musing: I feel like developers should consider improving their capsule artwork in the Steam store to make it more attractive. It's really easy these days to miss a gem or two because the artwork didn't immediately stand out.

The more people miss out on Tinymetal the better tho

For dragon marked, I know that there is timed early purchase DLC, what exactly is the DLC and does it have any significance if you have not played many Inti games? Since some devs have it where some DLC relates to some of their game stuff from the past that fans might like.
----
Hektor was Tiny metal bad?

I know that it did also get a sequel as well (which Unties did not publish, maybe because the first game didn't sell well?)

I don't know if it's bad, but the developer is a scamartist who still doesn't have anything to show for their Kickstarter project after 7 years, despite somehow managing to make not one, but two Tiny Metal games in the meantime.

Totally forgot about that Project Phoenix thing. That's how long it has been since they put out an update it might as well didn't exist. :dana_distress:

I really do think it's time for the $120 billion USD gaming industry (largest entertainment industry in the world) to unionize. It's been fun and games so far but that disgusting amount of wealth was built on the sweat, blood and tears of the over-time and crunch-time employees who toil day to day. Big devs and publishers have had it too good for too long, it's unrealistic and unsustainable.
A little game leakage is really not that bad in the grand scheme of things, at least the dude didn't torch the offices or shoot up management.

INTI CREATES usually has some bonuses for early buyers of their games, to reward the people who buy the game at full price.
Sometimes, it's getting certain DLC for free (and later buyers have to pay for that DLC). But, for two of their games, Dragon Marked For Death, and Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX, there is a DLC for each on Steam that is supposed to be exclusive for early buyers.
I say supposed, because for Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX, they messed up, and the early buyer DLC is still on the Steam store (not listed on the game's page, but you can add to your account here):

If you want to get it, I recommend you get that DLC soon, while they don't fix it. ;)

Anyway, for Dragon Marked For Death, the DLC (that will be available until the 4th of May; it was a pre-order bonus on the Switch version) consists of 4 weapons, one for each of the 4 main playable characters (there's 2 more playable characters, but they need to be unlocked).
These 4 weapons are references to another one of their series, Gunvolt. There are better weapons in the game, so after a while you'll probably be using other weapons. So, this is mostly of interest to fans of their games, and the Gunvolt series, so that early buyers get something extra, while "late" buyers don't miss out on anything of importance.

The Steam store page for the DLC shows the 4 weapons included:

Unionisation will not prevent capitalism. It will just help prevent some things like crunch culture which the game industry uses as a tool of capitalism. There's lots of other tools for capitalists to use, as all unionised industries around the world already know.

Jason doesn’t stand being called out on anything. He blocked me ages ago too. I always thought he was terrible, but maybe now others will see it,
I started having big doubts about him when I read his piece on Star Citizen. It was fishing for outrage, the facts and interviews quotes had no explanation to help put them in context.

For instance, things being redone which is normal in an iterative process, or memory budgets for character assets not being known in advance while the game is still in character rendering R&D exploration phase. At the very least this made me doubt his goodwill and desire to do a good and fair job of showing how things work.

I have no doubt there's value to some of his work but this piece left a bad taste in my mouth and showed he wasn't interested in fair reporting, merely in clicks and human drama.

Also, Vanguard is a piece of software that's never getting on my machine but Riot's posts and attitude certainly is quite the thing. The sheer hubris in believing they deserve to sit at ring-0 and interfere with what's going on a user's machine goes against every tenet of kernel programming. I don't like abusive language but there's a part of me that would enjoy seeing Torvald tear into them. Schadenfreude is bad :(.

P.S. Spoiler culture is trash and if less people will buy the game because they can read the plot online, then your game was never deserving of their purchase to begin with.
That's extremely unfair. A journey's experience relies in a large part on not knowing the destination. I think people are completely justified to decide against purchasing, and I personally hate spoilers. I think that reaction has little to do with a game's quality and in the reverse It could be argued that if a game can survive being spoiled, then its story was never that good in the first place. There's a lot that hinges on execution and how you get there but I think it's unfair to say what you did.

What is spoiler culture by the way? Because if it's being caring and considerate of others by trying not to spoil anything, I don't see anything wrong with it :).

I'm not informed on the Bloomberg thing but as for the leak, I stand by my opinion that this isn't the right way to handle it.

You are misunderstanding what i meant. People are entitled to make whatever purchasing decision they want to make.
I am saying it is ND/Sony who are not deserving of purchases that are reliant on a mix of marketing and mystery boxes that vanish the moment people read the leaks. If your story is good, then it will sell on its merits, such as themes, execution, presentation. And if it doesn't, then the story isn't good and fails because of its absence of merits.

Anyways, a good journey will remain good regardless of knowing where it ends. It isn't just that a lot hinges on execution, execution is the point.
A good story makes you think, opens your mind to new ideas, makes you more empathic to something, triggers you emotionally, challenges your beliefs, teaches you things.
A bad story is reliant on mystery boxes that lead to disappointing thoughtless answer like the recent Star Wars movies or Game of Thrones.

What is spoiler culture by the way? Because if it's being caring and considerate of others by trying not to spoil anything, I don't see anything wrong with it :).
Spoiler culture is people calling everything a spoiler and then getting upset at others for spoiling by saying literally anything at all about a Videogame or something videogame tangent.

Getting upset that a korean rating board leaked the names of the upcoming pokemon games being 'Sun' and 'Moon'
Getting upset that a YouTube channel about sword smithing made a Sword from Dark Souls by somehow assuming that would be a spoiler for Dark Souls 3 for no reason (and even then, it's a fucking Sword)
Getting upset at someone mentioning that there is a desert world in Mario Odyssey
Getting upset at Videogame announcements getting leaked
Getting upset that the Xenoblade 2 developer announced a little crossover with Xenosaga
Getting upset at someone mentioning that there is no parachute in Zelda: BOTW
And my most recent example galaxy brains getting upset at people mentioning the existence of a meteor in FF7, something that was shown in Remake trailers and is literally on the fucking cover of the game

That's a little worst-of spoilerculture.
And just to be clear, those are all real examples.
And i am tired of that nonsense.

It's fair to say that you don't want to know the identity of the murdere in a murder-mystery novel, but it's that people increasingly start to label everything a spoiler.

Hell, at the end of the day it's a criminal act.
Who gives a shit about the law tho.
