I started Steamworld Dig 2 and it looks like 1 did have a story after all.

If I were you I would play 2 and consider 1 a prequel, that way after finishing 2 you can try 1 if you are eager to keep playing in that universe
STWD2 is the real gem, enjoy it!
I'm just itchin' to create booster packs for it and hopefully sell them for $5 a piece :V
It was a decent experience to play for a few minutes at a time on a handheld, but I can't say that I'd ever want to sit down just to play SteamWorld, nor would I ever want to really return to it.
Dig 2 is way better, way more challenging and way more fun overall.
Atomic Heart sure it's something else, damn, looks amazing.

Trying to match games based on store descriptions with a more refined method. Results are not amazing but still kind of relevant.

Weird, is it me or Metro Exodus on PC isn't available to pre-order at the usual places?
I mean, it's up to pre-order on Steam, and Humble has the regular edition listed, without any discount (but not the gold edition).

Yeah, I tried it for a while last year and got bored fast. I really don't get all the praise for it, but to each their own, haha.
After an hour of Steamworld Dig 2 I can indeed confirm that it is way better.
This is all based on the description (text) of the games. A few similar games look relevant. I will see whether some parameters can help improve the results.
However, the results can be surprising due to the fact that the algorithm ignores the screenshots, tags, ratings, etc. Sometimes, the games only share a few concepts in their plots, but the graphics and gameplay are completely different. For instance, this is the closest game to Portal 2;

For Slay the Spire, the first result looks very similar.
For GRIS, the similar games feature a female protagonist and her journey in an adversary world.

I assume because it's pretty popular, it was the best selling Nep game and most played too, I get people that wanna try series all play it, not all play other games later.

Non of the NBA Jam games are available digitally on PC or Steam. as is you're best option is NBA Underground I guess.
