Honestly, my first thought when thinking about controller support in something like Deadfire is "Why would you play this game with a controller?". I mean, in terms of control scheme, it's basically an RTS.
That's the first mistake you're making there - not playing the game in the obviously vastly superior TB mode.

I usually don't watch big console conferences. They are unfortunately filled with disingenuous half-truths that make me shake my head more than anything. If you excellent people are on Discord though, that might make the experience tolerable, perhaps even enjoyable :).
I'm the opposite, I fucking love dissecting the bullshit and talking shit plus the occasional PR stunt like having a live band play.

Continuing into cheap stuff I've picked up from EGS

Afterparty - it was just ok. That really just about sums it up really. It's got a good concept behind it but that's about it; it doesn't do enough with it, and gameplay wise it's a very simple exploratory adventure title. Most of the quests are story driven fetch quests. It sadly loses steam before even the short length is over.

John Wick Hex - as I had mentioned briefly yesterday, this game is hard! Over the past couple of years XCOM has gotten me into small scale tactics games, and this kinda is that but were you just control the one unit. That said, I am not particularly good at tactics games so pinch of salt when I say this, but by the half way mark this game was kicking my ass every which way it could - limited health pick ups (special shout out to Chapter 5 for having none at all...), enemy rushes and plenty of "gotcha" surprise enemy spawns at designated points. Aside from the difficulty I found it fairly enjoyable, and ymmv on that point anyway

Starting The Sinking City now, only played an hour but it's got my attention so far.

I think this fits more into the EGS thread since this is a Steam thread and based around Steam. But that's just my opinion. Just feels weird to write about games in a Steam thread that are not on Steam (yet).

Given how much I enjoyed the game compared to people who complained about the combat I think it's pretty clear that I'm the one doing it right :p
I'm still playing through PF and I have to ask : really? Without sarcasm, I am wondering if a turn-based system actually plays better in RTwP. I find myself playing out most encounters in slow mode anyway and thinking about things in terms of turns. I still like RTwP's feeling but I can't help wonder if I'm not missing out here.

People talk about games only on console and mobile in this thread and its no issue, EGS games shouldn’t be either. The designated EGS thread is mostly just for drama and news anyway.

I wonder if there is a licensing issue that is preventing MS from putting Rare Replay on PC/Steam. Its been a while since the X1 release and still nothing.

Maybe the success of Sea of Thieves on Steam will pressure them to port it. I would really love to play a bunch of those titles. Come on Phil 😕

Really, absolutely, 100%. The thing is, I also never used slow mode. For me it's all about pausing whenever I need to (which might be very frequent in some phases of some battles, and not at all in others).

It's extremely satisfying for me to never have to wait for the game, while still having basically infinitely fine-grained control in the few moments where I want it. And RtwP also provides opportunities and situations that are simply not possible to accurately express in turn-based systems.

Rare Replay is using an X360 emulator to play the games, so that might be why.

But most of the games are much older than the 360. Or did they all natively exist on the 360? I don't even know. Either way it sucks if that is the case.

If I ever buy an Xbox in the future the first title I would probably play on it is RR.

I don't really know much about it, but last time I played Rare Replay, the X360 logo (emulator) that let's you play other X360 games on Xbone pops up when you play a Rare Replay game.

Very odd that Death Stranding is using DX12. The game is never going to ship on Xbox so why not use Vulkan instead ?

I wonder what will happen with Horizon.

Most of the old catalog is emulated one way or another, with the exception of Grabbed by the Ghoulies which they actually ported.

Because the devs felt like using DX 12? :p
Why is the question in my mind. Vulkan is not associated with Microsoft and has a good featureset. It's also a proven API with great games running on it.
To be clear DX12 in the right hands has demonstrated great things this is not me being worried about the PC version based on the API choice.

It's just weird to me. I would have not imagined the Decima having a DX12 backend.

Death Stranding was such a beauty. By far n away the best looking PS4 game that I played and that was on regular PS4 too.

If KojiPro does a good port with unlocked framerate n everything its gonna be one of the best looking PC games for sure. Especially for those with high end rigs its gonna melt your face.

Horizon was a looker too but there was way too much weird color in that game. Kind of like Kingdoms of Amalur iirc. It just felt uneven and not as good as Death Stranding imo.

It serves me right for opening my big fucking mouth. It really, really does.

So I finally get an upgrade due to an assist from where I work. Mobo, I7 3770, additional 8gb of memory. Nice. So I go out and buy a used but good shape RX 470 and I've got a replacement HDD coming. So I'm in $150 on this. I gave my brother my old GTX 660ti and I'm officially all in on this new (to me) system.

Run it Sat, Sunday, Monday, update BIOs Monday night, run it on Tuesday. Some gaming was done with the system on Sat, Sunday, Monday and just tooling around on Tuesday.

Hot AF where I live, so I get home and just read more Megg Moog and Owl on my cellphone while sitting in a dark room with a fan, staying cool. Night comes, finally, and I fire up the window fan and play a bit of PS4. I'm winding down for the night and I decide to turn on the pc and see if my XBGP version of The Outer Worlds finished downloading.

Computer powers on, CPU, case and GPU fans are spinning. No beep. No activity from keyboard. Huh. Restart it again. Hard reboot. Clear CMOS. Nope.

Houston, we have a fucking problem.

Remove all add in PCIe cards, disconnect all drives, start in on playing with all four sticks of memory in every memory slot. Nothing. See if the motherboard can figure out if it has no memory installed. Nope. Pull the BIOs SPI chip. Constant reboots, as expected. No change in behavior after CMOS is cleared, again, which leads me to believe that the board is booting to the point where it checks for the presence of a firmware chip but doesn't load shit.

I've seen worse. When the power supply turns on but none of the system fans spin up, you're at no hope. So I've seen worse. Just not with a personal system and not one that I'm $150 into.

I've got a newly flashed BIOs chip, I've got a stick of known good memory to test that I had lying around the house, I have my old system available to test function of PCIe cards and memory. Don't have another Q77 or Z77 motherboard lying around. I can always pull the CPU to test elsewhere but at that point, it aint worth it. I'll return what I can, zero out the old failing HDD, install the backup GPU and just live with it. I could always spend additional on a Z77 or Q77 board but again, they are not as cheap as the price I am willing to pay.

So, if you all are interested/curious about an in depth report of PC gaming in 2020 with a GTX 460 768mb, Amd Kaveri APU and 8gb of ram, I may have the thread series for you next week!!!!

JK, this computer dies, I think I'm out for good. Got my PS4, PS3 and I'll try to get a laptop with an mx350 at some point in the future. Fuck it, I'll go cellphone web access only.

Just played Gears of War 4 for five hours straight with my older brother. We have been playing many games together since childhood but did not have much opportunity playing together in recent years.

Man, this feeling is great. The feeling of gaming with someone you beloved is incredible.

As someone who is big into hiking, I think the only thing that may deter me from enjoying Death Stranding might be the plot :p.

Thank you for the reply! I guess I'll do what I should have done from the start and just try. But never using slow mode? In a game that sometimes kills your character in one round? I have no idea how you have the nerves to do that :).

Im 99% sure someone will make a trainer or cheat table with easy kill and/or unlimited hp that can help you out.
And fix the auto-rotating camera with kb&m. And remove tedious mechanics :p.

My dream is a quick save/load implementation.

From the Satisfactory Patch Notes:

  • We are also adding two start-up arguments that can be set as a launch option manually on Epic or Steam. One of them disables all multiplayer related connections, so no connections between accounts and EOS are attempted while playing Singleplayer.
  • Blocking EOS metrics when playing through Steam
-NoMultiplayer it is than.

They put Mass Effect 3 on steam. Damn!

That probably means Mass Effect trilogy remaster was never a thing. So Dead Space remaster it is I guess. Or wth else could it be.
