I knew that the pricing of new EA games arriving on Steam seems off. EA used to have reasonable regional pricing before.

This is criminal. They increased the game up to 400% in some regions, then slap a discount so it matches the original price before discount previously.

So many games from the showcase are EGS exclusives grrrr. Jet, Bugsnax, Godfall, Kena, Solar Ash etc. And without a doubt more on PC Gaming show.

Feels bad. Only P4G and (if true) P3 is Steam for the PC Gaming show.
No need to worry too much, all they got were indies and 2 were already announced a long time ago such as Solar ash Kingdom, Godfall and Oddworld, so yeah, don't worry too much.

I wonder how well TLoU2 is going to perform with critics. The first game was a big hit in every department imaginable, but with the second game being as violent as it is I can see it getting a good amount of controversy. Add to that a possible poor execution of story and themes and it might end up more in line with UC4 than the first game. I don't expect anything less than 90+ MC tho, however, potential salt would've been interesting lol.

I have a different perspective. All of these are AA-level releases that no one will give a shit about until they hit Steam.
Exactly. Noone will be buying that stuff on EGS. No offense to the devs but with the EGS giving ‘bigger’ games away, what makes them think someone will buy theirs. Unless they only wanted the cash injection which is fair enough I guess.

If/when I buy the PS5, I’ll get the Digital Edition. Most PS4 games are worth jackshit anyway.
Yeah. Digital offers way too many benefits. I’m definitely getting that version.

-Midnight launch
-No taxes on psn (I pay 15% tax if I buy physical)
-I live in a rural area so outside of AAA titles its hard to find physical copies of games I want, even some Sony games are impossible to find.
-I have no space for physical games anyway.
-No impulse selling games then regretting it later like I do more than im willing to admit
- Cheaper console

Hah, Actually buying digital would be more expensive for me. But since I rarely buy games day1, it is a non issue.

I think I'm good with Demon's Souls on RPCS3
I hear ya. Demon's Soul remains the best Soul in my heart, in maybe no small part because of the setting. Incredibly barebone but super on point 'Evil has won in this land, we don't know what's behind the mist anymore. What manner of perversion has fallen upon those left behind ?'

With this remake we now have the answer :
Evil is fond of light spots.

It feels a little too much on the Silent Hill 2 remaster side of things.

Yeah, I just caught up with everything and this looks most interesting IMHO.

I mean, the S-E thing looks interesting as well. But it's S-E, has "Project" in the title, and is announced at a console announcement. The chance of that thing releasing in the next 4 years seems vanishingly small :p
Aye. They also didn't have much to show of it. I wouldn't be surprised if they FFXIII us and that's pretty much everything they've done on the game so far.

So usual Square Enix shenanigans, as you said.

I'm little worried about PC gaming show, I want to be hyped for it but every time I hear EGS on it will make me want to punch the screen.
Stop living your live in fear of EGS.
We now have over 1year experience with it and while it might suck that you can't get the game you wanto on steam the truth is there's no shortage of awesome and innovative games being released daily. Maybe some of them wouldn't have had the positive reception and sales if the moneyhatted games had overshadowed them.

You don't need to play anything day 1.
You don't need that specific game to survive.
When it comes, if it comes, after the abduction period is over, you can get it cheaper and possibly more polished after 1 year of patches and new content.
It's an hobby, start treating it like one.

After a good nights sleep: RE8 and DeS were the only things that really excited me. I want to learn more about both games, especially DeS: will gameplay be tweaked, how much tweaking is good/needed, will there be additional content.

The lol moment of the presentation for me: The Design. It doesn't fit any living room setup out there. It looks like something people in the 90s would design for the year 2020. And not like something that would actually be designed in the year 2020. I guess it is going full circle.

Not a fan of the PS5 design I have to say. I much prefer the Series X aesthetically.

Ultimately unimportant, I think Sony were chasing the "futuristic" look more than anything else.

Yea not big on the PS5 design as well. By the time I pick up the console...they should have a different slim version out there and they don't overdesign the eventual PS5Pro either. Also I don't want white console or white controller so hopefully they offer black/blue options down the line.

The Series X looks better imo but not by much. It just looks like one of those fat refrigerators you see in some school cafeteria or deli.

Both MS and Sony are gonna need better design for the refreshes and slim versions.

TLoU2 at 96 MC and 95 Opencritic. I think we still might expect about 25-30 more reviews to come, but even if it has one or two outliers like quarter to three I doubt it'll impact the score for more than 2 points.

With that being said, some of the criticism I've read was pretty harsh. The gameplay not being a big step up from the first game (which wasn't all that great mechanically) is a bummer and some reviews mention bloat which can be potentially a big deal too. Other than that it seems to be a standard ND affair.

But that's exactly the appeal for me.

Their games get cheaper in no time, I can get a second hand copy for cheap. After I'm done, I can resell so it's basically a free game.

#TeamPhysical
Same here. PS games get cheap really fast so in the long run it'll be more beneficial to just get second hand copies than digital.

That BD drive is really ugly though ugh.

TLoU is a type of game that will review really well with game journalists. It getting a high review score is not surprising. When you read the review though, I found a lot that said that the gameplay is bad but the story is good, so another Death Stranding.

FOMO is a big problem I had, and probably fuelled a large part of my negative reaction to EGS. But it also taught me that I can wait for this shit and I don't need to play every great-looking game on the first day. It's a ridiculous feeling to have when you put it into perspective.

As you said, it's a hobby. The best way to enjoy it is to just play what's available to you now on your own terms. The good EGS exclusives will still be good games a year later.

I admit I'm not thrilled about reading that they haven't much improved the gameplay in The Last of Us 2, as I didn't like it in 1.
I'm so playing it on easy this time.

And the Skill Up review comparing the story elements to the recent Game of Thrones season 8 or the new Star Wars trilogy is... worrying.
But I'll see for myself in a couple of weeks.

Shitty things will happen no matter what. Don't need to be worried by them, but also do not grow used to them happening. Just vote with your wallet and if we all do it, we can send our messages to the developers that EGS exclusivity is not a good practice.

Demon's Souls looks so good based on the screenshots they've released. Thanksfully already played the shit out of the game a few years ago on my PS3 so I don't need to get the PS5 on launch, will get it later.

Other than that Im most excited about RE8 and Pragmata.

I think I played the first one on Easy ...because aiming with a controller is bad to begin with, but it was somehow even worse in TLOU.

Isn't Skill Up a contrarian site which basically lives off hot takes? I'm more worried about stuff in reviews from Polygon and Kotaku. ND having a subpar gameplay isn't news tho, I wish they take that aspect more seriously, they're still making games after all.

I'm not saying you shouldn't care but at least wait for the reveal and confirmation it'll be an exclusive. There's nothing to gain by worrying ahead of time of what might happen to X or Y game.

Not sure in general, but he shared most of my thoughts on The Last of Us 1.
The Kotaku review is also worrying, yes. I haven't read the Polygon one.

I guess I'll need to be in the right state of mind to play this game.

for a supposedly "gameplay trailer" it sure leaves us to fill in the blanks ourselves.

It's because he is a co-host in his brother's channel Laymen Gaming. His brother said something rather controversial and because SkillUp is a co-host, his channel also got banned.

Personally I agree with most of his reviews.

Read the tlou 2 kotaku review. Need to see/read more before making up my mind.
edit: On the other side, I don't really care about reviews anymore. I'll wait for impressions and gameplay videos.

Thought a bit about chances of HZD showing up during the PC Gaming Show. I think it is possible, the game is bundled with AMD CPUs now and AMDs presence at the PC gaming show was always strong.
For Bloodborne: Not sure it will be announced this month tbh.
