That is exactly the feeling I got when watching the trailer. The monsters feel derivative. I also like that they tried injecting color into it but they overdid it, it's too vibrant, too saturated.

It feels like a hollywood remake. More money thrown at it, with prettier and shinier effects, but the actual soul (hehe) is missing.

Remake and Original is definetly tonally different and I don't think I like that

I wasn't convinced by the other comparisons posted (as in, convinced that it's an actual issue), but yeah, to me this one is straight up a stylistic downgrade, and far worse at capturing the spirit of the (original) game.

Durante what's up with those eyes. PC version of Demons Souls Remake?
No, that was just me rolling my eyes at the change. I didn't want to "like" it ;P

I'm in the same boat. The decision not to purchase, to boycott is not an emotional one. It's the logical path to follow to fix a demonstrated problem.

The thing that gets me is when developers who should know better, who were helped by the community, who were PC darlings turn their back on the platform and their users, take the moneyhats while telling us it's raining. I hate having to boycott them, to make that choice. And I will, every time, but I wish it didn't appear that gamedevs were so easily corruptible.

So few of them seem to care about what's right for the PC and the users that it's really disheartening.

Holy shit, where was this taken from? Those clouds are absolutely incredible. The only thing that comes close to that is SC's nebula tech and it's baked geo.
What's SC?

In regards to bluepoint. I sort of felt like that with SotC. It felt like at certain points in the game the atmosphere just was not the same. It was still a good remake though but it did feel a bit off.

The SotC remake went for a more photo-realistic look and lost the original's style in doing so. The original felt so aggressively washed-out, and it made the forbidden land feel like it wasn't really a place meant for people.

The DeS remake looks like it's going to have the same problem of losing some of the bleakness of the original with its slightly more cartoony visuals and less aggressive bloom.

Honestly, I don't get why they do remakes like this. Either remaster, or do a remake with a ton of changes. "Faithful" remakes feel utterly pointless. Apart from the English remake of Funny Games, has there ever been a good one?

Star Citizen, here's the bit I was thinking of.

I just realized there was nothing from Rocksteady or Warner yesterday. Same with Call of Duty which doesn't make sense.

Maybe COD switched back to Xbox for this gen.

Also nothing from Kojima's new game and all the Silent Hill bs turned out to be fake?

I guess there is still plenty of time for more events. Gamescom and TGS both cancelled so maybe MS/Sony will have another digital digital stream for stuff in August/Sept.

We still have some good events this month. PC gaming show tomorrow and then EA play next week. Ubi and Xbox next month.

With the new consoles revealed, Nvidia taking their sweet time revealing their cards is beginning to feel like negligence.
I mean Nvidia released GPUs with a matching featureset and better performance in 2018. Why hurry? ;)

More seriously, NV seems to be on the same cadence of GPU releases as they have been for the past decade or so, with a new series on track for later this year (pretty much exactly 2 years after Turing, and likely still before the consoles).

Journey is at overwhelmengly positive on Steam and on 4th on global best sellers.

Im somewhat suprised. Feels like it's been out for ages on multiple other platforms. I have it digitally on PS3, physical and digital on PS4 and will get it on Steam sometime before the sale ends.

Journey is a masterpiece. Masterpiece games always age well.

The closest anyone has gotten to reproducing the feels I experienced with it is Fe, which died on Origin an unknown game.

Now it looks like an Ori and the Blind Forest/Will of the Wisps in 3D.

I'll say the same to that as I've said to people on gaming forums for over a decade: those who actually game on both PC and consoles are a minority (and furthermore, that minority is actually the same minority which is more likely to buy the same game more than once).

Because of the price decrease, which to us poor mortals matters a hell of a lot :p.

Edit : also because matching feature set and merely better performance have proven to be not always sufficient when PC will always lag behind in optimization. It comes down to the same price/perf point I was making : lower is always better, especially now that those cards are so disproportionately expensive.

Yeah, think MS saw that too. Question is if Sony will ever see that with more than Horizon 1 and if so, when?

👀
Since when does DeS run so well on RPCS3? Did the emulator go from, hey it can boot games to actually very playable and I've missed it?
Last time I checked it out the tutorial was 30fps (or 60 with fan patch), and problems started once reaching the boletorian palace. But now it runs smoothly (30fps smoothly) and even better than on PS3.

I cannot possibly give this enough likes!!
You can if you make multiple accounts.....

Also I was pretty excited for that show since there was a rumor that SEGA would be showing off Yakuza and Persona 5 at that event. They did show off Yakuza at least.

I was watching the live stream with some people from Gematsu and it was pretty cool when the announcement did happen since that made us pretty happy.

If yea own Griftlands on EGS, you can get it on steam..no charge.

We have our account merge and granting system in place, but we could use some additional testing for those that own Griftlands on the Epic Store right now.
It's very important to make sure you are merging the proper accounts, so take it slow and make sure you are connecting the right accounts together.
This process will allow players that own Griftlands on Epic to get the game on steam. You will not be able to play yet, but you will be able to play at 10am PST June 15th.
If you run into any issues or require any additional information, reply to this post and we will do what we can to help out.
Please follow the instructions on this page: If I purchased Griftlands on Epic Games Store, how do I get my Steam copy?
Thanks!

Honestly it looked like things were moved around (pros of having it prerecorded), It looked like Demon Souls was meant to end the presentation originally, and rumour was final fantasy 16 was going to be shown and a game from the dead space lead (he deleted his tweet). I have a feeling things like ff and silent hill will be saved for another event like TGS.

Kojimas game is too early I thought? sure he said he was still working on concepts?

Yea the Demon Souls trailer felt out of place. And it ended kinda weird with no gameplay shown.

If Dead Space lead was teasing something its probably gonna be at the EA play next week. And its probably Dead Space trilogy remaster/remake. Maybe just the first game. I'm kind of excited for EAs event next week now that they returned to Steam and Respawn is pretty much in charge of everything. They are making most of the money for EA outside of FIFA lol. It should be good and BioWare should have something too.

With all due respect, that is quite a bullshit reason. Token statements from companies are meaningless and in my opinion disingenuous, especially in light of how routinely they actively harm and censor themselves. Looking at you, Blizzard.

I don't know how to phrase it right. Every time a company has shown support for a cause, it was more often than not to score PR points. I find it a little more significant that they choose to remain silent rather than try to score brownie points by exploiting a movement.

This guy feels more than a little disingenuous to me.

Edit : also, his statement about Valve's hypothetical desire to cater to a boogieman of "angry white male gamer" says more about his intent there than anything else.

But that's exactly the appeal for me.

Their games get cheaper in no time, I can get a second hand copy for cheap. After I'm done, I can resell so it's basically a free game.

#TeamPhysical
Used physical games here are usually restricted to FIFA here :(

I got my hands dirty. I created an EGS account just to get the SamSho collection 💩
And I also received a 95 SEK coupon

wtf i've never seen this before

that's what you get for posting filthy animu porn

and then there's this:

That's a good reply indeed. I only hope that person will remain within the limits of decency and not make the EGS/Steam matter about BLM because that would indeed be shameless, thinly-veiled exploitation of their actions.

you mean Julian? yeah, hopefully

Imagien caring this much about pointless corporate virtue signaling
I know what you mean about the tedious pointless corporate statements, but it isn't "virtue signaling" if they're donating money. If Steam did something like itch.io is doing, it would be a pretty good look for them. But I don't remember Valve ever making a social statement like that -- didn't they do stuff for Pride, though? I don't really remember. Valve doesn't come to mind when I think about companies that make political statements lol.

Most companies don't donate money tho and even if they do it's usually small sums.

Regardless, the point is that i can't take people seriously who demand corporate entities to make moral statements and to "support" or struggles because not only is it against these corporates own interest - meaning they will never do when push comes to shove - but also because i find it distopican as fuck to imagine a world where we look to brands for moral guidance.

It's not bands that should tell us that Black Lives Matters, it Is us, telling them while we slowly work on dismantling them entirely.

Would be interested to know if this is an in isolation reaction or if he got rebuffed by Valve when he contacted them or if he tried to start something himself and got turned down. Either way, nuclear reaction for something that you do to try and make a living and most likely a cynical PR stunt because your games didn't sell well.

Staying silent is better most of the time anyway as far as large corporations are concerned. Better to be working behind the scenes and being quiet.

Also, I hope this guy does not turn up on EGS and make a meaningless noise.
