Absolutely not. I'm sorry, there is absolutely nothing about what you said that would make this not authoritarian. Imagine the thing to type was anything else, how would you feel about it?

So is this something objectively needed or something actually destructive and bad?

I’m cool with anything that dumbshits need to get through their heads. Stuff like “human caused climate change is real.” And “vaccinations save millions of times more lives than they end”.

Besides, it is by definition not “authoritarian”. So there’s that.

Besides, those "mandatory other actions" are the actual game, that you paid for. This bears no resemblance, no narrative cohesion with the rest of the game at all. It's forceful propaganda.

There is no ground, no possible way to make such a mandatory thing acceptable, especially if implemented after purchase, without the user's consent. Forcing the user to type their adherence to any kind of ideology, as benign as it is, during their hobby and private time is Orwellian to the extreme.

On top of that I would argue that forcing people to follow a cause is going to backfire big time, on account of it being as I said authoritarian. You are more likely to get more hate than any kind of positive consequence. What do you think the efficiency of such a measure would be on top of being morally wrong?

Ugh, yeah I’m sorry but “black lives matter” isn’t an ideology. It’s simple ethics. It’s factual. It’s not a belief.

and games already force you to subscribe to many ideologies innately. You can’t make death threats in a game, even against ethically terrible actors. You can’t even cheat in a MP game, games literally make you jump through hoops by design.

in the case of hate, simply permanently ban the bad actors.

We're obviously not going to agree on the moral aspect of the matter, so I won't argue in circles with you and belabor the point.

However from a practical standpoint, I don't feel like you realize how damaging to BLM itself such a move would be. This would paint and completely reframe them as being authoritarian, as being about forcing things on people. It would make people question whether they are in this because it's right, or because they are after power. This would contribute to discrediting an entire movement doing good work for the sake of sticking it to a few kids who will not give a damn and, at best, leave that specific game. Not to mention people's knee-jerk reaction to being forced to do something and have their free time invaded by something they had no say in.

That's a bad call on top of being morally indefensible in my opinion.

Based on his last comments I won’t be discussing anything with him again.
That's awfully unfriendly and uncalled for, but you do what you want.

Could you guys pls discuss that topic in Postmeta?
Sorry, it felt directly related to games at first, but I can see how the whole thing got pretty unrelated.

I think thehardtimes is a satire site like The Onion, but the official wording from Sony has still been confusing.

From what I understand, the game is basically Spider-Man: Lost Legacy.

Why not just call it a franchise spinoff?

googling

Standalone expansion, so spin off?

Nonono, it is the "next adventure in the Marvel's Spider-Man universe.", "an expansion and an enhancement to the previous game"

translation: We don't think that game with a black protagonist could stand on its own, so we shoehorn anything to the white Spider-Man game that customers know.

So.. is it spiderman2 or not? Miles is Spiderman in the Ultimate universe, why is it so hard to be clear.

God, it feels like Sony falling all over themselves trying not not to say the black spiderman game isn't a full Spiderman game while also trying to remain the company who put out that BLM message last week.

Ah yes marketing speak like "designed exclusively for PS5 [UWSL]also coming to PC day one[/UWSL]"

So my edit is correct. .. Why not just call it Ultimate Spiderman then and save yourself the PR quagmire they are walking into?

Just thought about something, How kong was Spider-Man? maybe the Miles Morales Game is significantly shorter and that's why they are very shy about calling it a spin-off or a numbered game and throw words like extension and expansion out.

Which, again is kind of icky and telling that they don't give a POC Spider-Man game a full AAA treatment.

Yeah it surprises me that the miles morales spiderman game isnt a full on sequel, considering that the comic book is very well regarded and sony just did that awesome animated movie, there no data that would show that a game based on the character wouldnt sell!

Its a little weird for sure. Hopefully it isn't shorter bc I want more Spider-Man damn it.

Like if it wasn't for the MCU, Miles would be THE Spider-Man, bc of Into the Spiderverse and the Bendis books. But the MCU happened and Spider-Man is still Peter Parker. I am not sure of Marvel's level of involvement either, so who knows who made this decision?

Who knows at the end of the day? Uncharted LL got the same treatment, so a Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead situation?

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy will give you approximately seven or eight hours of play time
While the main Uncharted games are 9 to 16 hours.

Spider-Man is 17 to 24 hours according to howlongtobeat.

When they are comparing it to LL, do they mean the 7 to 8 hour length or the difference to the main Uncharted games? It is the difference between Miles Spider-man being 7 hours long or 14 to 20 hours.

Gut feeling, but I'd imagine length wise we're talking a proportional cut down

Ok... this makes sense.

Welp, hopefully the ask in isn't $60 if the gameplay hours don't match up.

If its another UC LL, as in Spider-Man with less gameplay hours, its a missed opportunity have a big ticket Superhero game with a black protagonist. That would be launch title.

Played one mission Halo 3 insider. Looks and plays nice, finally Halo 3 on PC and the wait is over.

Please tell me it doesnt suffer from the annoying micro stutter that Reach does.
CE and 2 run perfectly, but there's something wrong with Reach

Hot take: PS4 Spiderman should have been a 10h game

I get the feeling that they wanted some kind of Spider-Man game for the PS5 launch, but couldn't do a full game in time for that so they went with the standalone/expansion route to introduce Miles as Spider-Man and then go on to have him and Peter Parker share the spotlight in the upcoming Spider-Man 2. Who knows, Spider-Man 2 could still be all about Miles too if they go the Ultimate direction. I also wouldn't be surprised to see Spider-Gwen join the fray in Spider-Man 2 as well!

Reorganised and added an even bigger Coal Powerplant to the grid. 3 gigawatts of pure power (from 1.2gw).
Not visible from high above, put it is an efficient and clean build now. Of course running at max efficiency.
Next I need to bring a couple resources from the coal plants area towards my main base and pick up a couple of nodes along the way. I also planned out a Forgery that will handle all my smelting and alloy mixing in the future. I hope it works out as I think it should.

Didn't play or watch it. Don't like Ubisoft radio-tower games. (and don't have a PS4 :> )
You’re not missing anything honestly. The swinging is fun but everything else is average.

I hate Ubisoft tower garbage more than either of you i am sure, but i still really enjoyed the Spiderman game, turns out if you have actually fun movement mechanics, even those can be enjoyable

Pretty much.

Spiderman PS4 does indeed fal into many of the traps/tropes of modern open world games, but it is nevertheless pretty darn good.

On other hand, with it's incoming PC releases, can anyone tell me that Horizon Zero Dawn isn't just another cookie cutter open world game?

The game was fun, but I didn't enjoy the combat for strange reasons. There are many synergies and ways to get rid of enemies, but it still felt a bit mechanical and like repeating the same button presses over and over again. Hard to describe, just wasn't fun.
Story and traversal was alright and what brought me through the game.

4 billion is a lot tbh. It will take a while to make that money back for whoever might buy them.

They will probably just do a firesale of the ip rights.

Would love to see someone like CDPR or Bethesda get rights to Game of Thrones ip 😏
