I prefer reviews of a middle ground. Not as short as bullet points, but also not as long and detailed like this. But hey, everyone prefers different styles, and thats cool :)
I find the long reviews keep me from wasting money. That simple.

A lot of people have a lot more money than I do and spending $60 per game is less of a worry than spending time reading an overly long review....

The "middle ground" reviews for Doom Eternal failed me. I spent $60 on it only to find that the controller implementation of its new systems suck and the game is just this side of "a chore" to play when it gets too busy. These are manageable on PC but deal killing for me on the PS4. Now its a $60 fucking blu ray coaster.

I'm still really fucking pissed that I wasted $60 on Doom Eternal for the PS4. Kotaku's review was my experience and worse.

Reviews are only great when they get deep into the experience and the stages of becoming familiar with a game, its controls, the story and finally what impression, feeling, any regrets that it left the reviewer with, IN DEPTH, after finishing.

Long story short, any review but long form is shit to me.

(Ignore the tone of the post as it is not directed at you, been reading too much US news today and I'm just angry in general)

oh no worries, I didnt think your anger was targeted at me. I get what you mean! and as I said, I feel like everyone should have the reviews that suit them :) It does suck a lot if something vital is missing from a review leading to a mislead purchase and a waste of money.
I used to really like TotalBiscuits "WTF is" first look not-reviews, they were quite in-depth most of the time.

and yeah..I avoid news (as much as is possible) for that reason!

Poor TotalBiscuit.....

There was a guy who wasn't perfect but he was good and got vilified in certain places. A disgusting show by a not small amount of people someplace else.

Would be a shame if Squadrons is not trying to be like X-Wing & TIE Fighter games (even that fabled series faltered when it went PVP focused with X-Wing vs TIE Fighter) with a focus on varied campaigns and missions. PVP dogfighting gets old fast if they don't do something in depth & strategic like Allegiance.

I loved TotalBiscuits WTF is videos. I disagree with him a lot when it came to his political views, but his "WTF is" series was great.
maybe it wasnt always very obvious because when he disagreed with someone, he didnt hold back at critizing them, regardless of their political alignment, but he was left-wing.
"I've been a left-wing labour voter my entire life mate. You are very misinformed if you think I've ever been anything else " - his words
also -

he posted this after an interview with Laura Kate Dale that she got flak for (this one: TotalBiscuit on Dealing with the Hate )

Aren't the other EA games on Steam already like this?
I tried Unravel and it pretty much just uses a lite version of Origin, not the full launcher (the best thing when compared to Uplay is that this Origin lite closes itself automatically when closing the game).
Or does that game not use even the lite Origin and just handles the login in-game?
It doesnt even use Origin Thin (actual name lol). I assume it'll work like MS's recent titles do where you just log in ingame and thats it.

I feel like the game will be more in line with Star Wars: Rogue Squadron I/II than X-Wing series. From the mid-low price tag I also assume it will be heavily multiplayer based (e.g 5vs 5 pvp mode) so I guess the game might take an arcade approach.

That's the thing that boggles my mind. Making a fun singleplayer space-sim is hard enough, ask Mike Tipul. But multiplayer? This is where they go to die, between trying to get flight feeling good wile being balanced and deep enough for people to enjoy. Not to mention, people's view of how flight should be spans an enormous spectrum, from WWII in space that has no regard for consistent physics to Honor Harrington-like respect of physics and control systems.

It's a damn quagmire, one that I very much enjoy seeing various developers try to figure out because that's where the dream is in the end, but what a hard pick for their first space game.

At least this game isn't trying to tackle non-consensual PvP across ship classes ranging from interceptors to capitals with a living economy on top like SC is.

Hmm, they did one strange change from the Vita to the PC Version in P4G. The Sun symbol in the weather forecast at day changes and on the right upper side is completely different.

The P4G port being handled in Japan with direct Atlus oversight is a hell of a twist. That's the end of all the "Atlus hates PC" memes, I guess lol.

Personally, I choose to interpret this as a very good sign for the P3 port. If they're directly involved, then hopefully they'll take the opportunity to get that whole mess sorted out. Ideally, a new version bringing the Portable content over to FES. But honestly, I'd settle for FES with a small update to allow direct control of party members, which should be fairly trivial to implement. As long as they don't port P3P, I'll be happy.

Has anyone bought Torchlight 3 and played it with a pad per chance? Eyeing it because I really liked Torchlight 1 and after Diablo 3 on PS4 I've been looking for something similar to play with a pad but haven't found it yet Though I much rather wait until a sale.

Do we know what Playground is doing lately? Is a new Forza even announced or are they doing something new?

2 days since being stealth dropped P4G is still global top seller on steam.

The game killed metacouncil servers too.

:blobyesanime:

I wonder how long Atlus will take to port P3 and P5 now.

SEGA took about 6 months to bring Kiwami after Zero. So maybe P3 in December?

Horizon game and an RPG (probably a Fable reboot), maybe something else, they are a big studio and have at least 2 teams.

I think this is the first time I've seen Steam Wallet funds as part of a hardware bundle:

Seems region locked, as the Canadian site doesn't offer the promo :(

Is that what brought this place to a stuttering halt?

I must say that I'm really surprised for good with Scarlet Nexus, I really liked the gameplay clips they have shown on IGN's event right now, looks really interesting. :triggerblob:

Yeah, it looks sooooooooo much better than the initial reveal with proper camera angles and 60fps. It also seems like you play as a fixed protag instead of a custom one? Maybe it'll have a decent story like that.

Ugh, It is majorly draining when people piss on the yearly dudebro games (COD, Fifa, Madden, etc.) and simultaneously shitting on indie games, thinking THEIR gaming choice is superior, while they mindlessly flock to TLOUII, God of War, Gears, Forza, etc.

The AUDACITY of indie games to appear on gaming shows and stink up that pure place.

The discussion of who has the superior taste is as old as the internet. I sympathize with your plight.

You’re right, Forza Horizon is the superior choice 😂
