Well I just finished Concrete Genie on my PS4P. Fantastic game, 8/10 from me, loved it. Wish it was on PC so more people can enjoy it.

Now to play Outer Wilds.

Satisfactory glitched out for me. Every time I log in, I respawn at my hub, ALL my items are gone and there is a second version of me somewhere in the world. Just standing around doing nothing. Makes the game unplayable.

Does anyone have any tips on how to win on Slay the Spire? I just started playing it, but I suck :(
Act 1 - Take direct damage cards. The elites and bosses in act 1 are all, to some extent, damage races. Most of them reward you for being able to burst out a bunch of damage here and there, like getting a good split on slime boss, killing one of the outer sentries in the sentries fight, or just pushing the guardian back into defense mode.

Act 2 - Try to pick up cards that will enable you to scale up. The act 2 bosses have a lot of health, and you're not getting past them if you don't have a way to boost up your damage. Act 2 is generally really hard. Don't feel bad if you die a lot there. It's just a bad time.

Act 3 - Hopefully at this point you're strong enough to just kind of roll through things. As long as your deck isn't super linear, you can probably handle whichever boss is thrown at you.

Some more general tips:
-Don't force synergies, try to let them come naturally. Try to take cards that are going to help you right away, instead of cards that might help if you find other cards to go with them.
-You shouldn't be aiming for incredibly thin decks, or stuffing your deck full of every card you see. 30ish cards is fine at the end of the game. Be judicious about what you take and don't be afraid to skip cards.
-Early on, try to avoid taking 0-cost cards and prioritize strong 2-cost cards (especially attacks, since those are best in Act 1). There is an absurdly powerful boss relic called Snecko Eye that gives you tons of card draw in exchange for randomizing the cost of your cards. If you've been taking 2-cost stuff and avoiding 0-cost stuff, it can just win games for you.
-If you get relics that have counters on them, try to keep those in mind. If you've got Nunchaku (extra energy after 10 attacks) at 3 and you can play 2 attacks to finish the fight or do it with just one card, always play the two! You typically want to be really close to activating special abilities once you get into the next fight. If you start tackling Act 4, this becomes even more critical. Having incense burner on the right count going into Act 4 can be the difference between winning and losing the run.
-Try to take a moment to make sure a move is correct instead of making a snap judgement. StS is complex, and there is a LOT of room for misplays if you play quickly.

That wound up being a lot. I hope some if it helps.

That's the worst. No valid autosaves? Or did it somehow glitch all of them?

Also, thinking about my world now... :sweaty-blob:

Did you enter MP in any way?

EA removed the Titanfall franchise tag for Titanfall 2. Maybe they were planning on bringing Titanfall 1 to Steam but scrapped the idea?

Isn't Titanfall 1 pretty much dead and buried?

Unfortunately, no. Doesn't matter what save game I load. It's like I'm being spawned as a cooperative partner in my own world.

Never.
But I reinstalled the game because I had to reinstall windows today.

Hot damn the new C&C Music Factory Collection is ace.

I never even played them back in the day so I've got no nostalgia glasses to wear.

Not big on RTS in general but got the itch out of nowhere and I read that the collection could be an interesting starting square as the mechanics are so simple & straightforward due to its age and foundational roots. After a couple hours I tend to agree. I haven't felt overwhelmed like I might imagine myself playing SC2 or something.

Plus those big, dumb CGI & live cut scenes. They're sooo STUPID! It's just incredible.

Great package that looks meaty as hell with all the trimmings (special feature vids, jukebox, 100+ missions, Workshop, old/new presentation on the fly).

Can't believe this thing is $20.

Maybe I should look into AoE2: DE sometime down the road.

probably .... especially since their pricing (and ESPECIALLY regional pricing) is downright criminal ... and people are buying them anyway
I don't. :)

Haven't bought a single EA game yet, I am considering getting Crysis 3, Dead Space 3, DA 2 and Inquisition though, but the pricing keeps pushing me away from the purchase button.

But you and other people on my friends list are buying them, so of course they will continue with their regional pricing.

I will cave in at some point, seeing all my friends buying EA games on Steam is not making it easy, some sort of fomo.

I mean I don't know about regional pricing for outside the US but as someone who has been trying to get dragon age inquisition for less than 20$ the only times it has been available was on Origin and Amazon for 12.50$ USD with the GOTY edition and that was like 7-8 months ago and I almost bought it then because at that point it was sitll just a rumour about EA coming back and I was wavering on Refusing to buy EA stuff since"Well Amazon isn't technically EA and I got a giftcard for Amazon"

So I some of them I guess aren't horrible?

Heard you wanted a Mass Effect and a Dead Space remasters. Have this instead:

Watch it somehow not be a remaster either. Heads will roll.
Hell yeah NFS Underground Remake! Now if they'd only make Skate 4 a reality.
I kinda wanna stay up to watch the show but EA play has been so godamn boring I'll probably fall asleep watching it anyways.

18hrs into P4G and this game is so fucking good. Beat the first 2 dungeons in the game so far. Didn't know just how much I needed a fun turn based JRPG in my life at the moment. Loving the story, art, music and characters.

Also there is something really satisfying about fusing personas together. Its like the opposite of opening up lootboxes. Its feels good and its guilt free.

what a time to be alive, lol
I could be wrong but I think that they did broad cast something earlier this year on Steam.

MS makes regular use of it and uses it as a marketing tool, which in turn also potentially helps mixer since I think that is where the dude is streaming from.

Can you please explain more of this?
Sure.
Basic attack cards are just doing linear damage. Each pass through your deck, you do the same amount of damage, and that's not enough for late game threats (act 2 boss being the first real test of this). So to scale, you want cards and synergies that allow you to boost your damage output (or possibly your block) as the fight continues.

The most straightforward example of this is the Silent's poison. Noxious Fumes, Catalyst, or even just playing a few Deadly Poisons so that poison increases faster than it naturally ticks down, are all scaling. They aren't scaling equally though. Catalyst is obscenely fast scaling, while Noxious Fumes is much slower (but also continues to scale for free). Depending on how many Deadly Poisons you have and how big your deck is, Deadly Poison's speed is variable, but it also consumes more resources than the other options, since you have to spend energy on them each time they come around.

There are a bunch of other ways to scale though. Power cards usually let you scale, since most of them enable effects that can trigger over and over throughout the fight for free. Boosting Strength with the Ironclad with cards like Spot Weakness or Limit Break. Boosting focus with the Defect using cards like Defragment, Consume, or Biased Cognition (in short fights, this is great rapid scaling, in long fights, it's a lot rougher. It helps a lot if you can get artifact charges or Orange Pellets to negate the bias). In addition to poison, Silent can also scale with stuff like Accuracy to boost shiv damage (though it's not as good as poison).

The Watcher is a bit unusual compared to the others. Her Divinity stance is a strong source of scaling if you can get it going, but if you can't, Wrath is sufficient. If you can't turn on Divinity, you want to reliably switch between Wrath and Calm so that you can spend most of the fight dealing double damage, but not receiving it. So you're not really scaling, so much as trying to consistently use the scaling you have from the start.

There are also some scaling cards that are newbie traps. For example, I mentioned Accuracy before. While it looks nice, since it's the only card that lets your shivs scale up, and it's uncommon, it's pretty difficult to actually get it working. There just won't be enough cards that power up shivs, so you need a ton of luck to find enough Accuracies. There's also things like the Defect's Claw. It looks impressive, doing more damage each time you play one, but in practice, it just scales way too slowly to justify.

i havent played WoW in 11 years but im being an idiot and downloading it as a free trail to level 20 or whatever to see if that scratches my itch to not want to come back to it.
I did this a few years ago and realized the game held no appeal for me anymore despite putting over 5000 hours into it in the early years. I would recommend starting a new character in the Pandaren starting zone. That place was gorgeous.

Do you think there is a bunch of EA executives sitting in a Zoom meeting right now going 'hmmm, people really like buying games on Steam huh'.
Their games are all in the top sellers list but the peak CCU numbers for all of them are quite awful. My friend and I were joking that Persona 4G probably has a higher peak CCU than all the EA games that have come back to Steam combined. So it seems people are buying the games just to have them on Steam but not actually playing them. EA probably doesn't care because they get paid either way but man it must be slightly embarrassing to see some games fail to cross triple digit CCU numbers.

On the subject of EA, I'm sitting here listening to the Mirror's Edge soundtrack and it occurs to me that this was the last game they put out (that I can remember) which showed any sort of ambition. I've sort of drifted away from EA games in the last few years because virtually none of their output appealed to me so maybe I'm wrong about this. Can anyone think of anything newer? I suppose you could say the Titanfall franchise counts but I sort of think of that as an external publishing agreement with Respawn and not a 'proper' EA game even though they eventually acquired the studio.

I can't say that I'm particularly hyped for Squadron, but we saw very little. No aiming reticle, which I don't really agree with but okay. Flight model that seems able to turn on a dime from the few decoupled passes we saw... This really seems arcade, but it could also be more subtle and nuanced.

Guess we'll see in four months!
