Have you checked the input device options?
If I remember it correctly, it doesn't automatically detect you using a controller, you have to explicitly tell the game you want to use a controller. Maybe the setting got reverted or something.
I managed to make it work by starting a new game and choosing gamepad, then load my main save. Seems like there's indeed a controller setting in the preference and it got reverted to the default mouse and keyboard lol.

I'm kinda surprised why this game got such bad reviews?
Lots of running through the same areas and grinding. Companion AI was bad. The interactions between both sisters get tiresome and rely on what I'd describe as "bro culture jokes".
But the core shooting is good, graphics nice, performance excellent.

I dunno, I find the sisters talking like dude-bros to be kinda endearing, and they are the daughters of BJ. so I'll cut them some slack.
Worried about repeated areas and grinding you mention, let's see how bad that gets.

EdwardTivrusky We talked about Death Stranding at release, you played it on PS4 IIRC. Can you confirm me I will have weird bits in my ladder simulator ?
I'm in for the weird, the busywork I can overlook, but if there is no carrot on the stick, this dog won't hunt monsignor.

edit - question open to everyone who already played the game obvs, no spoiler please.

mmmh, on the Epic Games Store, Horizon is 12 bucks, Epic can get the regional pricing correct, but Valve can't. I'm going to email Gabe Newell again to ask when I'm getting regional pricing.

So I have been playing the first mission of Wolfenstein Youngblood, and I'm kinda surprised why this game got such bad reviews? Were people expecting this to be Wolfenstein 3? Because, seen as a "side" game, the way Wolfenstein: Old Blood was, it seems pretty nice. I also like how it advances the plot from Wolfenstein 2, showing a liberated America, but how Europe (and the rest of the world, presumably) is still occupied by the Nazis. The co-op mechanic seems interesting too, though I'm playing it on my own.

Really liked the idea of the Nazi party zepellin, with its own 80 arcade game area, casino and "sauna-karaoke" bar. And the game feels quite a step up from Wolfenstein 2 visually, with DLSS and Raytracing.
It's very nice visually, and the core gameplay is fine (if not very innovative). It does get somewhat repetitive though, especially if you do the optional missions.

Our biggest issue in our playthroug hwas how buggy it is. Multiple crashes, and several repeatable showstopper progress bugs in coop (which we could only circumvent by playing those sections in singleplayer).
That's really not what you expect from a game like this from an "AAA" publisher months after release.

(I have no idea how much of any of this was due to playing the Winstore version FWIW -- but I am happy I didn't pay more than 4€ or so to play it)

Where are you?

But yeah, EGS covers way more countries with regional pricing. While the prices are still in US$, it's still better for a lot of countries that have yet received regional pricing on Steam. It's probably the reason why games are still selling on EGS despite all the odds, because they manage to convert a considerable chunk of Steam users with regional pricing.

I didn't make it too far and had to stop playing it as my PS4 sounds like a hovercraft but now i have some rubber feets, cooling pads and TIM paste i'm planning to take it apart this weekend and try to sort it out.

As far as i had played of it though, yes, yes there is the usual Kojima weirdness that mostly, gradually makes sense. there are times you're watching a movie with famous actors, times when you are walking through a beautiful maudlin landscape, times when you are in the action, times when you are hiding with heart pounding and times where you're screaming at the screen because you slipped and a fucking box fell off. The gameplay loop is repetitive but there's something there i like.

If it doesn't click you'll hate it but if it clicks you'll love it and given your fondness for Cosmic Horror there's a good chance you'll get hooked but i can't recommend it directly as it's £55 which is a lot of cash for something you're not sure about especially when it's so wierdly paced.

edit: Make sure you fit the filters on that case, Premium Heat means it'll be a Premium Cat Magnet in winter. :wd_cat:

The one thing I will say about Death Stranding is that its a very therapeutic game. There aren't that many of them. Minecraft is another one off the top of my head. Not to say DS and Minecraft are similar games..but both just provide that relaxing comfort zone for you to enjoy while taking your mind off things. Both games can be very addicting in a good way. If you constantly feel bored and feel like shit playing your typical AAA big budget game then DS might just be what you need. Its does a lot of weird and crazy things. A lot more than any previous Kojima game.

Talking about therapeutic game, I can't recommend Hardspace Shipbreaker enough. By dismantling spaceships piece-by-piece, it provides similar satisfaction like tidying up your home. The gameplay is a zen-like experience overall. On the other hand, if you accidentally cut the wrong place, it is also satisfying to see a spaceship blown into smithereens.

thats interesting , you must be fro one of those rare countries where the epic's $ conversion thing (its not really regional pricing per se ) gets better prices . Most people i asked around the world have usually still better prices on Steam ... iirc Brazil (dont remember any other) is the one that gets better deals with $ conversion

Also GabeN wont help youw ith it , publisher sets the prices in steam themselves in the backend . Afaik in epic its done by SergeySpy's team

The prices on EGS are better in countries that don't have regional pricing from Steam yet. Getting official currency support is so much more involved than Epics patchwork Dollar conversion thing. On Steam you can officially pay with your own currency, buy cash cards, and get support from local credit cards and payment systems.

It sucks for people who live in countries who are not yet officially supported, but all of that takes time and Valve has to talk and negotiate with local payment processors and retail chains.

makes me kinda curious how prices would look if they added CZK :-D ,,,, loking at PLN it would probably be even worse than current EUR german-level prices

not true everywhere though (as i said above i only know about brazil and some asian counties that get better prices with $conv) ... here the $ conversion makes it worse by +- 5€ (compared to standard € prices on steam)

I finished Persona 4 Golden today. Took me nearly 80 hours, which the fastest I've ever beat that game by at least 10 hours. But I guess I just know it inside out now.

I managed to max nearly every S.Link. About the only ones I neglected were Adachi's (never done it), Margaret's (couldn't be bothered spending the cash to summon), Eri's and Ai Ebihara's. I got the Fox up to rank 9, but I never bothered with the fishing minigame in this run so I couldn't take it past that.

I also maxed all social stats really early on. I feel like avoiding reading books until I got the speed reading really sped up how I built those stats up. That made the S.Links easier as I had very few roadblocks to rank up certain S Links like Nanako's and Dojima's, while letting me get access to some of the job-related ones before the summer.

Overall, though, it's still an amazing game that holds up in 2020. I've replayed some games from back in the day that feel really old-hat, and despite its low-end graphics and some bits that feel old compared to its sequel, P4G managed to hook me and keep me engaged for the whole ride. Obviously I've recommended it many-a-time, but having played the PC port from start to finish, I really feel this is a great port of an exceptional game and heartily recommend it.

If Microsoft put Forza on Steam the screaming from the fanboys would be drowned out by the screaming of the tortured metal of their money safes bursting at the seams. Conclusion? Microsoft don't want to damage their hearing so Forza isn't coming to Steam.

It would also make people realise just how busted the Windows Store is for games and they don't want to have to deal with that.
Also, licensing nightmare probably.

Forza games are a weird thing, probably due to licensing issues. None of the Motorsport games and none of the Horizon games except 4 are on game pass. Horizon 4 is on game pass and the reason (I assume) is because it released after game pass became a thing.

I suspect all upcoming Forza games will be releases on Steam though and will be available via game pass.

I guess Animal Crossing really helped me in the beginning of Covid, and these last few days, even if it can surely become harder than where I'm at and therefore not really appeasing, I guess I would say Deep Rock Galactic. The threat is not overwhelming with the solo bot and I quickly enter a sort of appeasing trance. Find the vein, understand how I can get there and back etc.

I should buy Hardspace but I can't :loudly-crying-face:

New forza games will release on both Steam and MS store but don't expect the old ones to come, at all, if anything I'm surprised they didn't upload Gears 1 and 4 on Steam, that's it.

Why not give Forza Horizon 4 a try, he said.
It's on GamePass, he said.
Won't be that bad, he said.

Three f* reboots before the GamePass APP was okay with me wanting the game to install on something else than C drive.
I changed the default download location to that drive some time ago. The app never told me what the problem was. The install button was greyed out, until it wasn't.
But changing the default download location will be a problem should I ever need to update or reinstall DTS or the HEVEC Codec.

Microsoft in 2020, caught unprepared by users wanting to use more than one drive in their systems.
Can't blame them, more than one drive is an innovative technology. Has never been done before. Consoles will catch up and invent multiple drives one day too. Sony will take all the credit and market it with "double the amount of games installed", "you can even use two drives simultaneously". Then epic will announce that using two drives simultaneously is unheard off, and decades better than anything the PC scene has to offer. While Microsoft will buy Iomega and reinvent the zipdisc.

Hmmmmm, for me a therapeutic game is one where i just lose myself so they tend to be easy/not-challenging, exploration heavy or have a "repetitive" gameplay loop and nice audio so it's easy to get into a flow or just pootle about for an hour or two. I'll usually listen to podcasts or audiobooks while playing too. So with that in mind, off the top of my head i'd say in no particular order:

Gris
Birthdays - The beginning
Cube World Alpha/Beta
No Man's Sky
Lego Worlds
Hidden Object Games
My Time at Portia - would be on the list but it kept crashing randomly for me so i haven't tried it in months.
Solitaire - Any variant Spider/Fairy/Zombie/Whatever
Reigns - Any variant that takes your fancy.
Just Cause 2 - Put it on easy, stick in some mods and just mess about.
Skyrim - Just go out into the wilderness exploring and clear some dungeons avoiding any questlines like the plague.

Bought the Castlevania SotN and Rondo collection on PS4 for 5€ a week ago. Kinda surprised that it didn't immediatly shadowdrop on PC since
Didn't Konami say a second Castlevania collection was coming eventually? It feels like it's been a while since the first collection maybe the second will be out soon.

The way the game is designed is that any encounter can be won with whichever upgrades that you chose.
Be it upgrading and duplicating magic spells
or simply upgrading your units. The one thing I have to recommend is to never settle for just one strategy, try out different things and sometimes risky stuff you never thought to do MIGHT help ;P
