I mean "universal ownership" sounds like a game should not be tied to a service, but that's not what they've done ... (and I doubt big publishers would like that idea).
In theory, this would be ideal. A universal licence. But what Sweeney really means is that he wants to sell the game and he wants others to take charge of the service and distribution bit. Purchase on EGS, then exploit the other's platforms and make them handle all the distribution and service fees.

He really doesn't want to implement a shopping cart. That's my takeaway.

Exactly. He wants the money without providing the service.

Also he is such a hypocrite. Saying games shouldn't be locked to a store and then bringing moneyhat exclusives to PC which.....lock games to his store. Twat.

I think Epic's big problem isn't just to drive more people to use their store, but actually have them pay for content. I think due to the giveaways, which are awesome, I have no problems with Epic freebies, but due to the amount they have done, I don't see many on social media who are actually willing to buy stuff from the store. It's always the question if a game or dlc will be free or they demand the dlc/game to be free.

People are using Epic for free stuff, I am using EGS for free stuff. I think it's a minority who is paying for stuff.

Epic has learned people to wait for Epic to give away games, not to pay for stuff. Rocket League being f2p makes me think that Epic is a F2p and freebie store.

I think the games that have sold best on EGS are Borderlands 3, Metro Exodus, Satisfactory, WWZ and to a smaller extent, Snowrunner and Control. And if that is the games that have sold best EGS, then the EGS had success at the start, but sales have slowed down a lot. I mean, Satisfacotry sold 500k in 3 months, but it took 9 more months to reach 958k. if Playtracker is correct, the Steam version has sold a bit over 600k in 1.5 months.

By sold best, it means the games that have sold most copies and that doesn't mean the pub/dev think they are sales successes on EGS, just that they have sold most on EGS compared to other EGS exclusives.

So I will be able to play my Steam copy without an Epic account? If so, good, I don't want nothing to do with EGS.
I don't think that's the case. It will migrate over to EGS, leave steam and your Steam-version profile will be there in the new f2p setup, but it will require EGS at that point.

I also played the beta on EGS, so Im part of the 350k+ people, but I will buy it when it hits Steam. Already have too many untouched and unfinished Soulslike games, so waiting won't be a problem.

According to Rock Paper Shotgun, the summer sale won't give out new coupons.

Which is odd considering the main reason Ive seen people talking about buying stuff on EGS on social media platforms is because of the coupons.

I mean, coupons are without a doubt a big incentive to use EGS, regardless if you like EGS or not, so not giving out more coupons will hurt EGS big time, I think.

Maybe they want people to burn through their left over coupons before the big Fall releases, which is why they're not giving out more.

It's possible they didn't get the results that they expected.

So what's the deal with Tetris Effect? As far as I understand Xbox now has exlusivity for the new Connected version and thus delaying the Steam version indefinitely?

That is some bs.

I'm so confused by it. I don't know what anyone gets out of a delayed vanilla Steam release. Microsoft doesn't win any points there, unless they agreed to let them release the MP version on Steam for added fuckery.

So, EGS Summer Sale is going on, and I'm barely seeing anyone talking about it, there's some articles about it, and the people with Creator Codes are doing their thing, but besides that, apparently, and this is just anecdotal, no one cares.

EGS has trained people to expect free games, not deals.
Anyway, imagine spending your coin on EGS. Gamepass is a better deal if for some reason you dont wanna use Steam.

The sticker prices are pretty much the same as they were in the last sale, except this time there's no extreme couponing to lure people in with some absurd discounts.

It's no surprise people are not talking about it because there's literally nothing to say. If you wanted a cheap EGS game the time was a couple of months back during the Mega Sale.

Is there a way to change to another currency?
Yes, you can change the region/currency on your account, but the second you attempt to purchase something, regardless if the purchase goes through or not, you are locked to that region/currency until you ask customer support to move you to another country.

I know because I tried it when the store launched. You also need VPN though to purchase anything.

Doesn't most overlays (Steam, Discord, Windows, etc) just work with a game without the game developers having to integrate support?
Yes.

The Xbox overlay also works on all your Steam games. I actually find the Xbox overlay to be pretty good, gives you some stats over how your hardware is doing while playing the game. So I have Xbox overlay and Steam overlay enabled.

Hmm.. that kinda sucks. I am asking because Griftlands costs 139 SEK and to use the 95 SEK off coupon the game needs to be over 149 SEK. Which translate to 15 dollars to get 10 dollars off. The game costs 20 dollars in USA

Keep the coupon for a later use (it is valid till early November if I remember right), and purchase the game on Steam instead.
