I don't normally wish bad on anything, but I would find it hilarious to see this game crash and burn.
After all the crap they pulled (platform exclusive character, content locked unless you acquire some beverages and similar crap, ...), they don't deserve anything else.

If the game flops, it's the developer Eidos Montreal that will suffer. Square will in the worst case just cut their losses and disband them. Best case someone buys them off for cheap.

started playing ab it of Spelunky 2. It feels like a great refresh on a timeless classic. Same Spelunky at its heart, same controls, but it feels a lot more complex. Levels have small caves inside them, there's a lot more variety of things, and best overall, new challenges and areas you don't know by heart.
If you loved the first game, then the second one is an instant-buy. If you didn't, well, don't expect Spelunky 2 to change your mind about this series.
That's a pretty good summary of my experience so far. Exciting times ahead of us :)

Square Enix sent this to die everywhere by making the PS4 the Complete Edition before release. I've been having lots of fun playing with BlindRhythm anyway.
Yep, it certainly seems so given how little they marketed the game despite all of its strange brand partnerships. Not to mention all of the bugs that exist, though thankfully they're mostly funny at best or a little frustrating at worst.

Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal are pretty good devs so I suspect it will get sorted out in time but probably not soon enough to save the overall player base. The Spider-Man stuff certainly doesn't help as you said.

But also as you said, it's been an absolute blast playing together. The Hulk and Thor combo is too strong! :smiling-face-with-smiling-eyes:

Spelunky 2 is so amazing. Plays and controls so well.

I can definitely feel that old rage returning with this one and all the bs deaths again lol.

Its very hard but there is some rust too. Having a hard time whipping arrows at high success rates. Need to get used to this madness once again :anguished-face:

Speaking of Eastern European devs/games, in the IndieCup on Steam there was this game clearly inspired by The Last of Us and Life is strange, but god, is the demo janky... I hope they fix this up until the release, because it shows some promise in my opinion:

Sure! I'm a fan of the genre, and the game looks like a good time. :)

It would be great if the game sold well, and would result in a bit of a revival of the genre (yeah, I know there are several indie games in the genre in recent years, but it's great to see a big company like E.A. throw its weight and a bit of a budget into making this game).

yeah kinda. won't get it at launch cause i rarely do for anything these days but i'm looking forward to playing it in vr eventually. i really enjoyed flying around in no mans sky in vr but there really isn't much to do in that game so this will be much more exciting.

Yes in the broad sense. I want it to do well so more space sims are made with a decent budget, but currently my budget and lack of a stick means it's going to get put on the back-burner for a while
I'll buy a month of EA Play Pro just to play that and FIFA and Madden and...

What's the feeling on Mafia Definitive? I've only played Mafia II and I really enjoyed it - am I getting a similar or better thing with the remake of the original?
tbh i am quite conflicted about this remake , especially the more i play
- it looks and runs great
  • as i expected the move to covershooting annoys the hell out of me but plays much better than M3 did
  • the driving system is casualized to the max ... in og Mafia , the simulation driving was well ...the simulation , in DE even the "classic mode" is childs play and simulates jackshit and nonclassic is boatriding
  • but what dissapoints and frustrates me the most are some of the story and character changes

    Especially with the main character of Tommy
    - in the original he was a good guy who found himself dealing with the mob by accident, just random civilian to be in touch with the mob and thus was in over his head most of the time
    -in DE he from the start acts like wannabe mobster and DE makes his personality a lot aggressive and much less hesitant during most of the story

its just frustrating as hell 😭 (fucking hangars)

Finished my second playthrough of Factorio last night (first one was nearly 2 years ago, so it was pretty neat to see all the changes going into 1.0). I'm also feeling pretty pumped about the achievements I got from this run:



Ever since the game first hit Steam, I've wanted to get Lazy Bastard, but only just now managed it. Since I'm terrible at Factorio, it wound up being a 24 hour long campaign despite being on peaceful mode with no cliffs.

It's still an amazing game, but I really wish it had a better way of communicating to you what materials are going to be important later in the game. Since it's been so long since I last played, I had forgotten just how many green circuits you need in the lategame, and wound up horribly bottlenecked. Trying to expand your factory to account for stuff like that can feel like a real hassle, and it's a bear to reach endgame and feel like the best choice is to sit around, since it would take just as long to expand production as it would to watch vtubers on another monitor until your rocket is done. In a way, it feels like the game would be better if it just didn't acknowledge the rocket as a win-state, so the thrill of expanding your factory could be the primary motivator. The reward of launching the rocket supersedes the more intrinsic motivation once you get close to achieving it.

I think if I play through again, I'll go for a bigger base to get some of the production achievements, and hopefully that (plus no LB achievement to get) will encourage me to just keep optimizing well past the initial launch.
